I have to agree with you guys, I'm at a point that 150 miles each way, 2-2.5 hrs is generally maximum for me. Unless it was an unbelievable, large deal, lol. My wife wouldn't be happy if I couldn't get the drive done in a normal 8-4 day.
Man, you guys must be getting old! Those road trips often pass close to scrap yards and PIAS stores.....
Gas, time, and the chance that a random seller on CL might renege on the deal when I get there are all things that I consider before I drive more than an hour or two for something. The math rarely works out.
This.
2 hours one way for the seller to decide he wants $100 more than we agreed on the phone.

If it's a tough to find piece, different. But a Cybex bench? There will be another much closer for not much more.
If it were within a 3-4 hour drive I would already be in the car, even matches the color scheme of my gym :(
heck, i drove 5 hrs from sw michigan to columbus for my powerlift bench. I think it will be the last bench i ever need so i guess it was worth it. BUT, unless someone is giving away something woth $500+ it isnt going to happen again.
its only 1 1/2-2 hrs for me but my 5435 itch was scratched last year.

Just lucky. Persistence is key though, alot of areas have quality equipment but most people are not dedicated enough to check CL, Facebook, Gov Deals, and eBay several times a day to snag them. Using the right keywords helps too, some people don't really know what they have so you have to get creative to find stuff. A Powertec really shouldn't be that hard to find, given they were sold at DSG for a long time.
Case in point: Posted 12 days ago, Health and Beauty section, NAUTILUS equipment, and I personally would want to have a closer look at this stuff. First Gen Pullover?
https://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/hab/d/nautilis-gym-equipment-cybex/6588803065.html
Another.....Posted 6 hours ago, LOTS to look at (weights $0.60lb, pulldown for $350 is likely the SLM300G based on description ($1,600 machine)

You really do have to keep an eye on health and beauty section, I've seen a lot of stuff there that you would think would be in sporting goods

Good tips!
Managed a little score of my own today. Pairs of 2.5 through 45 of the Rubos with a crappy bar for 50. Should be net 30 after the bar sells.

Here you go, but you need to be savvy to pull it off. Comes with 400lbs, bench and leg extension. Let's say you offer $600 cash (or $500 if your ballsy), flip the weights for $0.50/$0/75lb, dump the bench for $200-$250 with the leg extension, and what do you have leftover? A $200-$300 Powertec that you can use with your existing bench, dats how it's done mayne ;)

reading the ad, i think the guy is selling an older model thats not made to be free standing with ones own bench. Ive no idea if those older machines are designed in such a way that using your own bench wouldnt work????? or is either machine the same regardless?

Its possible, might even be better if it's older like mine because you can more easily convert it to work as belt squat and still use a bench for incline / flat work.

Is an old Nautilus hip and back machine worth looking at?

The older ones I've seen look like they have a stack. Can't find much on this model.

Not sure how the resistance was created. I think that may be the abdominal beside the hip and back. Those are pretty common on craigslist or FB marketplace.

Thanks. That makes sense. I couldn't figure out any more resistance than my legs pushing on it, and the shop knew nothing about it. It was the ab unit next to it. Both were very inexpensive, but I am not sure where I'd find the room anyway.

Scored a set of Pro-Rexan Powerblocks 5-85lb with the stand for $250.
Two of the selections stick a bit on one. Gotta grease them up and maybe tweak the plate angle a touch. All in all, I'm happy.

Sweet pickup, you got an awesome deal! I love my Pro-Rexan set, they have replaced the original 'The Block' as my favorite adjustable dumbbell. You should be able to square them up pretty easy (put one corner on the ground, then drop a knee on the opposite corner), I have done this with numerous smaller sets that I bought damaged to resell. Quick fix and they will work like new when you are done. Enjoy the DB's, they are keepers!

THIS is NOT a CLASSIFIED SECTION!!!
THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO POST STUFF YOU HAVE FOR SALE!!!
I'm seeing a lot of people and (some not noobs!) posting items they have for sale in this section. That is not what it is for and is against board rules. There is a craigslist sticky for posting great deals you see but if it isn't a great deal expect it to be commented on negatively.
From this point forward any "for sale" threads in this section will result in the threads deletion and a moderator neg.
A second offense will result in a ban.
Third offenses will result in your permanent removal as a spammer.

I have used one before, they are REALLY nice for shrugs and DL's. Would have picked it up if I didn't already have my Powertec, which essentially allows me to do the same thing with my elevated platform. I was more tempted by the leverage squat, looks like a nice unit (similar looking to the Bear Squat), but again thanks to the Powertec I have that already. Someone should buy that Hammer and flip, that's easy profit right there.

Nice! Appears to be the same model as mine, which should easily convert to a belt squat if you ever had the desire. Up to you, if you offered $500 for everything and dumped the weights for $0.50lb you would be around $300 before even considering selling off the bench.
Here is another one in my backyard (Body Solid), full sized model with plates (at least from the pictures) for $200
