Id like to have a nice standing preacher curl so I can do spider curls and regular preacher curls. I rarely ever see those pop up.
Believe Body Master's Standing one is the best of all due to rounded padding if you can find one.
I have Atlantis standing one but the padding is not completely rounded.
One good use (about the only one I can think of) of a preacher bench is that it is a good place to hold your curl bar while you load it. :D
I had a Hammer Strength preacher curl for a while, sold it, bought a rackable curl bar and do curls off the reverse safeties.

haha I guess? It's not like I threw them down. The Ivanko overhead drops were with not just 25kg plates alone there were also 20kg plates and change plates on the bar. If you google cracked ivanko bumpers, it's a common issue for them

Craigslist and thrift stores are seriously the best places to find old weight equipment. I've bought a total of 1,400 lbs for only about $500 (granted, it wasn't all at once. I've just been buying deals when I see them over the past 4 years)
Can't complain one bit

I've outfitted my entire gym with commercial equipment and about 4000lbs of vintage plates and dumbells over the past 5 - 6 years and used other peoples money to pay for all of it. You gotta love Craigslist.

I'd like to buy a concept 2 rowing ergometer, there are a few concept 2 model ds in my area that go for around $650 with PM4. A seller is selling a Model C with a PM5 retrofit for around same price. Rest of the C appears to be original C equipment (seat, handle etc). Thing about the C is the photos show it in a garage, so might have some rust but I haven't looked at it in person yet as location is about an hour drive. Also the C is older, obviously. It looks fine in the photos, don't see any signs of issues. I'd like to pay no more than $500 for a C but maybe the PM5 is worth it? As far as ease of disassembly with model D I have mixed feelings as the C also seems to disassemble similarly but with more effort and I was planning on either leaving it on the floor or tilting it 90 degrees regardless. Is there a difference in sturdiness with the D, looks to be more modular. Can the quicker releasing mono rail fitting wear out on the D? I like how smooth the model Ds (as opposed to the Cs) operate but that might be more due to the amount of use the various gyms I have been to have put them through.
What are some things to look for? I was planning on checking the drag factor at various damper levels.
What would be the better option? New from Rogue for a Model D with PM5 would be $900 + $50 shipping.

What area do you live in? I have been watching concept 2 rowers for a long time now (and finally made the purchase yesterday) I have found that 700-750 for nice condition, black rower with PM5 is a good price, but can be had fairly often for 800. Model D with pm3-4 can be had for 500 - 650 at a good price, but can often be found for around 700-750.
I was very patient and got a model D (pm5) for $500, but that is not normal
For me, I was not that concerned with the upgraded monitor, since I just row for exercise. I do not row in the water, and really am not concerned with being an efficient rower. I could really care less about bluetooth, rowing apps, games, or whatever else the benefits of the newest monitor.. I just want to row for the exercise! I would get a model D over the C..

Maryland area. I have seen in this area, Model A $200, B is $250, C is $400-600, D is $600-700. I might buy a new one from Rogue. I want it to be smooth. I had T4 and T5 laminectomy to remove a spinal cord tumor in 2016 and rowing feels so damn good, gets that area moving again.

I never understood the love affair with the PM5 - I mean it's nice, but I don't think it's worth the retrofit cost they charge for it.
Personally the PM2 was my favorite

Did the PM2 have the fish game on it? That alone causes my kids to ask to row a couple times a day :)

It is pretty fun, fish scrolls left to right, when you row it causes the fish to go upwards to dodge obstacles and other fish. I haven't played it in about 9 years though. I remember it being difficult. I just checked and fish game is PM3+.

IMO, that huge horseshoe-shaped front foot is more of a hindrance than anything else unless you're going to use the leg extension attachment. It's one of my biggest complaints about the 70/71, along with the height.
So much potential, but those two flaws just ruin an extremely solid bench.

I'm thinking about offering this guy $200-$240 for these 5-70 lb PowerBlock dumbbells. It looks like they are $497 after shipping on the website.

http://www.powerblock.com/prod_homeuse_elite5-70.php
Thoughts on how much they are probably worth? They are only a few months old.
I can get used dumbbells locally for $0.59/lb so it would cost me $614 in dumbbells for the same weight. The expansion kit to take them from 70's to 90's is $129 +$29 shipping. The additional dumbbells to go from 70 to 90 would cost $390. It seems like a pretty good deal if he comes down into the mid 200's or something with them.
Thanks,
Danny

good luck getting the guy to take half his asking price. It may not be worth it to you but i'd be curious to see if the guy would take that hit. not saying his asking price is fair...for that much i'd just pony up the extra $50 and buy new.
also you should delete the ad unless you want someone to poach your find.

A bench comes with it at his asking price, so I was hoping to get him down to that level for just the dumbbells. They have been for sale for 23 days, so he might bite.
I'm not sure what they are worth used, but I figure half of new is reasonable for used gym equipment, but then he just bought them so might want more.

half is usually true - but Powerblocks seems to be one of the exceptions. But you never know unless you ask.

powerblocks seem to age well and they reportedly have excellent customer service. the only thing you risk by lowballing is for the seller to ignore you. then again they might already be sold and the seller just hasn't pulled the listing. call him up and see

Didn't mean for it to come off that way. Just figured a bottom line up front makes it easier, especially for mobile uses.
My last couple posts have been CL ads, mainly because I feel it's one way I can contribute to the group, and because I'm overseas for work and buying is out of the option for me.

just my opinion, but id stay away from those elite powerblocks. they are the clunkiest thing PB ever made...look at the big gaps on those. wait and/or save for the urethane models or even the older pro models. around here id have to go down to $325-$350 to sell 5-70 elites. if the bench they are sitting on is the included bench, it has no real value, so i doubt its exclusion would entice him to lower his price much.
