Been out of thr gym for circa 3 years due to shoulder issues. Had surgery last August and now ready to go back to the gym, can't wait! Love handles are embarrassing.... Been doing pull ups and push ups the past month to build a little strength up where I can...
As I typed this I realised I can't attach pictures, I have added them to my gallary. Thanks for the help :)
Been cutting since the start of the year, wondering where my bf% is. I have no "before" photos, but my before weight was the same as pre-covid, so I'm including one from last February.
I don't know why it insists on uploading photos sideways.
Posted my pics here before, down 1kg on the scale on keto. Wondering how much my bf percentage changed.

I'm estimating in the low 20s. At 138lbs, you need to put some muscle on.
Been cutting for almost 6 months now. Figured i'm not built enough to continue cutting and starving myself lol.
23, 6'4~ 175~lbs.
Feel like I'm at the point where I'm getting diminished returns since i dont have much muscle mass to cut on. Opinions on cut or bulk possibly? Currently eating at 2,100~ as an estimated maintenance.

Idk what %% but I'd go ahead and slow bulk. Plenty of time to cut again after adding 10-15 lbs of muscle. Plus added muscle makes one look better even at higher bf%
My weight is around 172lbs. I am around 5'7"
How much body fat do you think I am?

looks kind of similar to when i was 170-180 lbs and 25-28% bf

thanks man. I still feel so chubby. The body dysmorphia has been real ever since I started this cut.. but if I look lean enough to start slow bulking after eating at maintenance for a bit then I will. Realistically, I wanted to get to like 12% atleast so I had a little bit of room to grow but im guessing im like 15% right now probably? so thats not too bad.

You’re looking good - specially with that pump.
I’d get more muscle and then cut but each to their own. I don’t like being too skinny - prefer skinny fat/muscular in shirt look than be a skinny ass dude like a teenager

Should I cut to like 15% before bulking? I feel a lot smaller when I cut.

Clearly I'm not in the same place right now..??

Muscle mass doesn't have anything to do with it: you can be fatter with more muscle.
Feel free to wait for other's opinions... it's an open forum.
You still look around 20% to me... could even be 21-22.
For reference... here are some examples of my BF intervals:

A appreciate you chiming in, despite how I think, but- no offense- I think you got this one wrong.
Badly.
And I think you made your guess higher just to try and trigger me, after I asked for a second opinion.
The 19-20 dude looks way fatter than me today, not athletic at all, plus he's much taller. Which creates an illusion of leanness relative to smaller folks, if you're not watching closely.
I think you'd have to be borderline crazy to say he's in my bf class. I mean, it's not abs- obviously I'm not 15%, but you can even see my side rib cuts now.
Crush the 19-20 dude into my 5 foot 5 frame and see if you don't call him 25 percent.

Well, i'm sticking to what I said... you asked, I'm answering. It doesn't matter what your height is or how much muscle you have... it comes down to how much TOTAL fat and TOTAL muscle is on your body. Crushing someone down doesn't change anything; he'd just weigh less.
If you have more muscle but have the same level of definition, it just means you weigh more overall and the fat spreads more broadly over more area.
Again, you can be 200lb at 20% BF with a low of muscle, or you can be 150lb and 20% BF with less muscle... it's irrelevant.

I would have guessed about 19% now coming down from 25%+ in the "before" pic. But I would add that I would personally trust Adam more than me on this. It is generally a good thing to try to go by the higher BF% estimate as most people underestimate how much fat they carry, so you are probably going to drop more than you think to see your abs anyway.
And why come asking for an estimate if you are just going to argue with it? A second opinion is useful as we are often not good at judging our own body composition.
Also I find it really unnecessary to comment negatively on the other guy's appearance like you are doing here.

Yeah, im not sure why he's acting like I insulted him. I didn't say anything about his appearance being 'good' or 'bad'.
It's a number, it's not an emotional thing. Why would I lie or be dishonest?
I mean this isn't a doctor's office, why would I care if he wanted a 'second opinion'. LOL... this opinion is free... it means nothing to me at all.

I'm just going to drop it now and carry on. I mean no one any harm- I just got badly triggered. It's not the higher than we think principle, it's that last time I checked in I think I was assessed much lower than 20-22 and I carried more fat at that check in and being told I was much higher despite in my heart feeling I made so much progress, I did take personally, and I couldn't believe was genuine or accurate. Pick one. Anyways, water under the bridge. I'm human, like anyone else.

I didn't say you didn't make progress. You're MUCH leaner now. I said you lost 10% BF... thats huge.
But also that math doesn’t make sense at all, because if you used to be 20-22% and then lost 20 ponds, you’d be shredded to the bone... like stage-ready body builder.
I think there's some confusion on both sides, and its okay. I mean, for my part, I lost 20 pounds at 153 original weight. That would be 15 pounds of fat, 5 pounds of muscle lost for a 10 percent cut.
That's a really high ratio of muscle loss, considering how much protein I took in and six days a week of quality lifts. That's why I figured, and based off a check in a month ago or so, I figured I was closer to 18 percent. I really want to get to 15 by summers end at latest, but that's neither here nor there. I figure 8 more pounds of fat loss would do it. Muscle constant- 125 I think is my magic number.
I carry most of my remaining fat in my arms and my abs/lower back. I am absolutely solid in the legs and upper back now. I've overcome so much in the past year. But this is a mountain top I want to reach. To ring that bell, even if I can't stay.

it’s fat + muscle + water + glycogen + food volume that you lost... it’s fat mass + all non-fat mass which is more than just pure muscle tissue

"side rib cuts" can be a big genetic factor, too. If you look at the two photos I posted, you can see the visibility on them is almost the same despite being atleast a 5% bodyfat difference. Even when I was somewhere between 20-25 those serratus cuts you're referencing were still pretty prevalent.
I don't think Adam is trying to trigger you. I've had some dudes here give me flak because they thought I was lying regarding a dieting question a while back and if anything Adam was one of the more patient fellas with an approachable outlook amidst those individuals.
You have to realize too people hold weight differently. I'd offer some outlook but I don't see the photos anywhere.

Didnt see the rest of the replies, mb. Just keep at it man. I empathize with you wholeheartedly. Most guys really struggle with those lower abs and back as a holding point for fat.. I know I sure do lol. Just stay consistent and keep grinding. You'll get those results.

I was in size 30, now size 28.
I transferred the weight to the phone.

Keep in mind, and no offense, but you didn't have much muscle to work with when you first started your "cut". Hence the reason you'll just end up looking like a smaller version of yourself vs "ripped". And this is speaking from personal experience, I'm was in the same boat as you : /
