Hey guys, been cutting awhile and down to roughly 230lbs at 6'3". Just wondering if anyone can estimate where my bf is at. I was thinking maybe 5-10 more lbs to go. One day I'll be able to go for a DEXA but until then just gotta make do. Thanks for your time.

Hi
I started off on April 20th at 110 kg (242) pounds and i now weigh 87 kg ( 192) pounds.. so about 50 pounds lost in 5 months
Looking for a BF estimate and guidance on how to get down to 11-12% BF by the end of the year, if possible.
I maintain a strict caloric deficit of 1000 kcal/day. Eat low carbs low fats and high protein.
Workout: 4 days weight training ( Back+ Bi, Chest+Tri, Legs, Shoulders+core)
2 days HIIT circuits and Cardio
Supplementation (started about 2 months back): Fish oil, Whey, Vitamin D and Vitamin B ONLY
any guidance will be much appreciated

25-27% body fat. You have another 30lbs to go before you're 11-12% bf.
25-27% body fat. You have another 30lbs to go before you're 11-12% bf.
Thank you for the prompt reply.. That is fairly close to what i was estimating.. I was thinking 23-25% and maybe 27 lbs to go
ive lost 10 pounds a month uptil now.. is that something i can maintain by being fastidious about my diet and exercise?
any tips on how to maintain the maximum lean mass while continuing this cut?
-
As you get lighter, your TDEE will go down. This means your weight of rate loss will go down as well unless you continue to drop calories.
For retaining LBM:
Make sure you're eating enough protein (at least .7g/lb) and fat (.4g/lb)
Keep lifting
Aim to lose about 1% body weight a week- slower is fine.

Yep im aware of the decrease in TDEE and so far i have been able to account for it and keep it in check by increasing intensity of workouts and decreasing calories incrementally.
Im hitting the numbers on the protein intake as well, though not nearly on the fat intake.
Lifting is going on and i change my routine whenever progress on the lifts stalls.
"1% or slower" so ideally u would advise against trying to drop the 30 odd pounds by 31st dec? or is that on okay-ish target?
i am really really greatful to u for the input btw.. it helps a lot!

If you keep your weight loss at 1% per week, you can lose about 26lbs by the end of the year.
You can lose weight faster if you like, but the chance of losing muscle will increase a bit.

Makes sense.. i guess ill try and go for 26-28.. and will keep increasing the lifts as i go by, while keeping an eye on protein intake...
i just hope i can get down to 160-165 pounds and then do a clean bulk, cos i imagine ill be quite scrawny at the end of this cut
thanks for all your help
also, assuming i manage to do well till the end of the year will i have abs at say 162?
thanks once again! u have been great!

This is after cutting for 4 months, I thought I could get abs at 60 kg..I guess not. My daily calories is already down to 1300. Can I get a roguh bf% estimate? I think it's time to eat normal again.
Any advice on working out 2 days/week ? Right now I workout on weekends due to uncertain work schedules. Lately I'm in the office for 10+ hours. I'm thinking of a 3x8 routine, with the reps increasing every week, until I can get 3x12 with the same weight

Only time will tell. You should be lean enough at 162, but your ab muscles may not be developed well enough yet.

Looks like 18-20% from the front. Pics from the side and back would also be helpful If can only train twice a week, I'd look at Dan John's Workout for the Busy Working Guy.

18 percent huh...still pretty high. I will try to build muscle while maintaning my bodyfat for a while.
Probably i still could cut another 3 or 5 percent bodyfat but losing weight for 4+ months is starting to take a toll mentally

Im already at like 1600 cals, and cardio every day. I'm not sure If I can cut much further with my current muscle mass. Are there any other options? Do re-feed days work?

I'd take a 2 week diet break (eat at maintenance) and then finish off the cut. It will help.

Refeed days don't help with fat loss. They may help mentally or in terms of athletic performance, but no one loses more weight by eating more calories.

I'm guessing low-mid 20s if I'm being realistic. Using max LBM formulas and knowing I'm 6'1 221 here. Unlikely that LBM is more than 170, which might be optimistic itself.

Looks around 18% to me. It could be 20%, but I don't think it's higher than that.
