New. Pics are on profile. Age:21 Height:5'10. Because I'm also asking some extra questions it's fine if you feel they are off topic and don't answer. But I would like to know considering I'm completely starting off with bar bell weight training (just beginning the 3 days a week workout that was on the beginner page) should I just eat around maintenance or try to lose weight or even eat in a surplus?I'm clearly skinny fat. I've got a pretty decent belly and love handles. While being decently slim still on the waistline (somewhere between 33-34) like I said you can ignore me for being so ignorant. I'm still trying to slowly get my nutrition more consistent (I've cut out the junk food I've always eaten but I haven't been able to be consistent with the macros yet) anyway I just want to say I'm ready to take my health and body seriously. Hopefully some of you on the community will become friends with me in the future. Anyway cheers.
20-22% I'd cut.

155lbs 20 y/o 5’7. I know I have a good bit of fat I need to lose but I’m new to lifting should I try and recomp or focus on cutting https://imgur.com/a/sNQ09cH ? Also how much weight should I lose before I try and bulk up?

Wow I had no idea I was that high. Does anyone else think I’m 27% body fat?? I thought at the absolute worst I was 23-25. Everywhere I’ve checked by taping and calipers says 21-22. Any thoughts? Reps for help thanks.

Those methods are unreliable as well as other methods. They are just numbers. Figure out what is your goal (i.e. see abs) and work to getting to that point. All this stuff is noise and excuses for not working.

I agree with you, I just wanted another opinion. What would you estimate at??
-
Thank you man. Yeah I picked 25% as it was the first to actually have the distinct line under the belly. I just wasn't entirely sure as I have a pretty slim frame overall. Some of my family tells me I need to eat more as I'm too skinny lol. Anyway yeah I'm starting up a program so hopefully over the next few months I can phase most of the skinny fat out.

20-22% I'd cut.
my maintenance is about 1800 calories so should I be eating around 1500 a day then?

1800 sounds low for your maintenance. Are you sedentary?
In any event, start with 1500 and see what happens. If you're not already, start lifting.

Could I get an estimate please? Bulked from 120 to 150 in the past 10 or so months, and I think I'm at the point where I'm unhappy with my BF and want to cut. Do you think this is a bad idea at my weight?

About 18% You're a bit stuck because you're not that heavy, but your bf% is a bit high to keep bulking. I would cut a bit, 5-8lbs, and then bulk again but go slower the second time around.

Hi guys,
I just wanted to post my weight loss results and get your opinion on my progress. I have been doing this since the end of February. Weight training 5 days a week (Monday - Friday) with weekends off. I have started to add running to my training (at least a 5k 3-4 times a week). Diet wise, I am intermittent fasting. I would just like opinions on my progress so far and possibly what you think my BF% could be right now. When I started I was 197lbs, and as of today I currently sit at 184lbs. Thanks!

DEXA is crap... My friends DEXA said he was 11% and he had a big belly still with no abs. 12-13% is about right for you.

Progress looks pretty good. Pics are a bit small though. I'd say you went from around 20% bf to around 15%

Last estimate I got was 23%. That was about a month ago... Goodcalculators. com said maintenance was 4000 so I've been eating 3300 for 4 weeks. Feel like I've made no progress. Im not too good at noticing small differences in bodyfat so I thought i would ask you guys to guess my bodyfat. Is it too early to re-evaluate? Or should I just drop cal intake now?

Based on your pic. You need to lift weights. 4000 is alot of calories for your size. You look like you should be somewhere in the 2000 range but I do not know what you exercise routine is. As far as BF goes, you still look around 23% to me.

Yea bro. I should be lifting. And I work in a cast iron factory, stuff we lift isnt really heavy as we always 2 man lift, but I do this 50 hours a week. I only do cardio. I know, its a lame execuse, but I'll start lifting once I've adapted to eating less... im going to drop cals by to 2800 and see how I go. BTW am 200 lb and 6'1.

Same advice as the other poster. Start lifting heavy ass weights and lower calorie around maintanence and then adjust. Bulking only will make you look fatter, dropping the fat and adding muscle is recomp.

Whats mine %?
Fat calipers read 16-17% bf with 3 point measurement
Stats are below:
5'6
156-157lbs
Thanks
PS:Pic in profile picture sorry for the lighting

The angle lighting and if you are sucking in your gut/flexing. Based on the profile pic, you look around 17% to me.

Height: 6 ' 0''
Weight: 185 lbs
Pictures in body space.
Quick Summary for those who would hear me out:
I started out anywhere from 250-280 lbs in March of 2017. I reached the 180 mark roughly a month or so ago and have been staying at 185-188 ish for the past couple of weeks for one main reason:
I am unsure of my BFP and have no idea where to go from here. Basically, I was wondering if anyone could recommend I should bulk now or continue to cut weight. In the end, I'd like to have an aesthetic yet somewhat bulky physique. Visible abs yet not too shredded. Mainly because I don't feel a shredded physique would be the best route to go due to my history of being overweight and the way loose skin works.
I've been doing the same thing for about 90% of the past year and three months. That being low carb, low sugar nutrition. In regard to working out, I had been doing some cardio combined with weightlifting. In this stage, I was separating muscle groups per day (chest, back, quads, hamstrings/calves, shoulders, and arms) with moderate weight and mid to high volume sets. As I slowly approached my goal weight (160-170) I wondered when should I stop and so I sought out some advice. I was told I should switch over to a a full body strength routine. In this case I chose Fierce 5 and I have been doing this for aboout a month now.
OVERALL QUESTION: What combination of nutrition and workout routine would best help me achieve my goals. All advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeremy P.
