I've lost 30#s in 4 months with an end goal of 10%bf then a clean bulk. I feel puny and weak. I had estimated my 10% bf weight around 170# I'm currently 175# 6' tall 31yo 33.2" waist. Not sure how much further I can go to reach that 10%. I estimate current bf% around 13-14??? Still no abs though. What y'all think?
Pics on bodyspace
I'm eating 2000-2300 cals daily and lifting heavy compound hst program every other day with minimal lisst cardio yet almost half the weight I lose seems to be muscle mass. Could be my measuring methods(navy, JP 3pt caliper, and bf scale)????
@Tucane,
I'd also love to know your thoughts on how to get a shredded look after bulking a little from a cut-first approach. Right now, I'm pretty lean as you saw but have a little left. It's tough to tell whether I can get leaner and really get that super shredded look, or whether that look is actually too difficult to get without having built any additional mass, and I should start bulking some to get the shredded look. Do you think just pushing for the 8-10% super shredded look into a bulk first is optimal, or accept that maybe that shredded look might not come given I haven't bulked, and bulk some now to "fill out" and get that look?
You can obviously get really shredded, just diet down further. It's a rough road down to 8%BF and only you can decide if it's worth the trouble. It depends on your preferences regarding LBM amounts and if you're ok with feeling small (I currently do myself) If not, you should bulk to add mass.

Hi all, just had my third monthly weigh in in my cut. Now down to 88.8kg at 192cm tall. Target is single digits then start another bulk. Can anyone give me an estimate as to where i'm at? Thank you
If it matters, picture is tensed but had only just woken up so no pump at all.

If someone could please estimate my bodyfat, My pic is up in body space, username Ryan8501, make sure it says 5/3 on it as I have a few others from back last year. I'd appreciate it.
EDIT- Stats are 6'3 200lbs-let me know if you need anything else.

Hello guys!
I need your help with my estimate please.
Weight: 165lb of water and fat
Height: 5'9
I would say I'm at 20% BF? Should I continue my cut before gaining some muscle or is it a bad idea?
Thanks!

18/20%. Also, I advocate cutting for aesthetics first. Feels better, looks better, is harder but gets easier.

Any and all advice appreciated also appreciate a BF estimate. Trying to cut HARD next 3 months, probably can afford to lose some muscle.
So around 4 years ago i was 5' 9" and 175-180 LBS coming in around a legit 10% BF.
4 years later, I stopped hitting the gym and really packed on the pounds getting up to 236.
Started Keto and lifting seriously again 2 weeks ago, pics have a lot of water weight but much more fat. Lifting routine is 6 X a week and hit them gym twice a day for 90 minutes of cardio (one round of LIST and one of HIIT), calorie intake of roughly 1500 while I have a BMR of 2000. I assume that working out that much with a calorie intake is OK because of my relatively high BF ?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I currently have time to focus on my physique and hit the gym twice a day. I also lift 1 muscle group a day, 3-5 lifts and try to double up on legs during the week. I will be rotating from 8-12 reps as training progresses.
Trying to get a BF estimate from one of you guys on here. Clearly my fat is around the butt and gut area and plentiful .
For better reference, 5' 9" roughly 215 LBS 36" waist. Again, just back in the gym for first time in years but here are stats, proper form for everything.
3s 10reps: Leg Press 3S 10R 450 (no platform) Squat 270, 225 Deadlift. Seated row 140, Lat pull down 120lbs, pretty bad shoulders so go light on Bench Press but 70 DBs etc etc

Well, actually if you just lift weights your body will reform a bit ("noob gains") and you'll still look really good. This is if you take in the right macros.

The reason why you're not seeing the results you want mostly has to do with your diet then.

A while back somebody else suggested I was 20%+
Can I ask how quickly is it possible to lose body fat %?
Thanks so much for the response :)

It takes effort over time. Just make sure you lose weight at your desired pace for now, while progressing within your lifting routine.

When you're asking body fat while just starting out it's kind of a vanity metric and estimation. it's more once you've already gotten started and are really pushing for a goal that where you stand is more important. Your priority shouldn't be fixated on the number but more on the deficit / your routine.

I've been at it for 3 months so I'm hoping to get to 15% and then see if I want to cut more or start bulking.

Start bulking once you're satisfied with how lean you are. If you're intent on getting to 15% then just keep cutting.

Hello all, I am new. Can I get an estimate please.
Height: 5'9
Weight: 147lb
I have lost 13+ pounds (while lifting + monitoring calories and macronutrients) in the past 2 months in an attempt to get to 10% bf before bulking but I'm afraid that my weight is going to just get lower and lower...(without losing my belly, that is). At this point I'm not sure if I should start bulking or not and then just cutting later..
Advice appreciated and apologies for pic quality :) (Pic 4 is under different lighting)

Yes, but only 2 times weekly. I can feel them under there, they just haven't peeked out yet.

Yes, looks about 13%BF.
You need to have more faith in your routine and your diet, also accept that your end weight @10% will be lower than you think (hydration goes down). BF% measuring tools are more for fun and than actual usable data, looks will decide anyway.
Also, work your abs more frequently... even flexing them often helps a lot.

Some people have abs showing at 20%, the estimate is based on overall body fat distribution.

Hi everyone.
5'10, 153lbs
Looking for an estimate and a little advice. I'm brand new to lifting, etc., have been on my first cut for 17 weeks now and have lost ~20lbs. Over this time I've been able to make significant gains in my lifting, but I was starting form a very low base.
I would love to push my calorie intake back up, to eat again like a normal adult, but I feel like it might be easiest to squeeze out any of the last stubborn fat now (if necessary/advisable) while I'm used to the diet, and then be able to slow bulk for as long a time as possible.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
As I am new, starting and current pics are on body space.

23 percent bodyfat. Which might seen high but Woman have more essential fat than men.
You look perfectly fine and healthy. Just exercise and workout hard in the gym. Eat 1300 calories -1400 calories.
Again you look good. So even if you have 1500 calories as long as your getting stronger and you keep active it means your building muscle and not putting on fat.

I’ve never posted up photos like this before but I’d like to get an estimate of my bodyfat please.
I’ve been trying cut to and weigh several Kg less than 6 months ago but unfortunately if the bodyfat % on the machine at the gym is accurate then that loss is 75-100% muscle which is the opposite of what I want. I’m feeling disheartened but trying to better track calculate my TDEE for going forward.
5’9” 35 year old male, 66Kg, 29” waist.

Around 15%BF.
You shouldn't trust machines for BF% readings, they are inaccurate at their best. As long as you lift, muscle loss on a deficit is a minor factor and mostly bound to intramuscular hydration.
-
No sure if I am doing this wrong, or my earlier request just got missed, but would someone be able to help with an estimate?
Thanks

Excellent! The machine reckoned 25% bodyfat (much higher than the 20% estimate from a different machine 6 months ago) and I spent the rest of yesterday really depressed about it. I have strong abs muscles and hints of a six pack emerging if I tense them so 15%ish does sound more right than 25%.
I have definitely lost some strength all over my body in the last few months but I'm happier with that and I'm going to track and adjust my calories with a TDEE spreadsheet in future to get more accurate a picture.

Looks to be around 11%BF.
You certainly don't need to cut further, unless you have a specific goal in mind. Feel free to start your slow bulk anytime you prefer:-)
