Thanks, man. Repped. I was thinking a couple of percentage points lower, but that's why I asked.

Hello wonderful people - I was wondering if you could estimate my body fat! I have been hitting the gym regularly for about a year now and about to go on my first cut to finally lean down before I continue adding more muscle. My pictures are in my 'progress' in my profile!

No problem it is mainly to do that you lack core definition which pushes you up. Although bf% are not determined by just one place such as stomach generally on most men this is last place to go therefore the lower the % less of a gut is present. Irrelevant of this you are reasonable lean as your 6ft 3 if you are interested I would suggest adding muscle as on bigger frames fat percentage is easier to hide then smaller frames when you have more muscle. When I have cut to around 11-12% (avatar) I'm touching 170lb at 6ft 2 and I believe I look too small, so I do recommend getting more muscle as us taller men need it.

Agreed that I could use some more muscle mass. You should have seen me 9 months ago before I started lifting! Got up to about 200 lbs on a fairly dirty bulk, so I've been cutting back the last 6 weeks or so. I think I'd like to lose a few more lbs just to give me some more time to bulk. Losing patience with the cut though as I've seen some strength losses.
Thanks again. I lurk around here quite a bit, and I'm always impressed with how helpful you are.

Hello, I'm very curious to know what you guys would guess my body fat percentage is! My Omron weight scale (BIA Method) gives me 16% BF and measuring tape formulas give me 7% to about 12%. I've never used calipers, so not sure what that would give me.. If my bf % is truly 10% (lets say that's results avg), am I considered too skinny at only 150lbs? Over the holidays I was visiting family and they thought I was too skinny and looked sick.. LOL (I recently cut from 200+ lbs (obese).

thanks for the guess. I f'd up and wasn't in the gym for 3 months and lost some mass. :\ Definitely getting on a new eating/weight lifting program soon! I wanna say your current body fat is probably near the same, but I really have no idea haha!

Hey all! Would love to know an estimate of my BF%. Cutting right now and assume it's almost time to do a lean bulk. Would waiting till 10% just be to much with my current muscle mass?

To start off with your description is a tad misleading those two pictures are not 10 weeks apart simple as that. Based on your images on your profile the first one was back in 2010 and the new one is present so 9 years. Just in case people read that and get confused and expect 10 week results to do this as they wont.
OK as for bf%, first 26% mark, second - 13% about (good lbm)

Say what you must but that is 10 weeks apart brother. The week 1 photo is not old, I have a motorcycle helmet in there and i got my bike license 1 year ago not to mention the giant tv in the background lol..I have it all documented on my phone with the dates listed on the details panel. And to be fair its 10 weeks and 3 days. Either way thank you for your input :) here is a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSCovfdMOtQ

OK I do have my doubts based on the world of technology these days but hey what do I know (I'm getting old). As for your progress you have made fantastic change in 10 weeks although from my standpoint when offering advice I still would be wary in implying that this is kind of body composition occurs in 10 weeks for everyone. Based on your previous images you had a good physique back in 2013 so the progress from muscle memory must have really helped..... (plus good lighting, relaxed vs flexed state).
Anyway back to bf% estimates on this thread however fantastic work does show what dedication can do (rep), although many people have to remember if you lack lean body mass to begin with make any transformation to lean is pointless you will just be skinny.

15% about. Personally I wouldn't bother going to 10% its nothing special and will take a while which eats into potential muscle building time maybe lose a little bit more then focus on building muscle.

Thank you brother.
Do you think I am big enough to justify a cut? In the year I have been working out I have gained about 1kg, so I have been essentially eating around maintenance. Should I continue that?

Yes you are big enough to cut. Its down to preference if you want summer aesthetics then cutting will be the route. If powerlifting is the plan then carry on with small surplus.

Thank you for that!
Out of interest - how did you know I was interested in powerlifting?
How long would you cut for / down to what %age? I have no experience in trying to lose fat!

You are 21 and built solid you don't get that from lifting small weights.... Not to mention your core is noticeable even at a higher bf% which indicates strong progress in the major lifts (generally).
I cut to I am about 15% then reassess depending on how much muscle I start noticing and if my lifts are taking a hit or not. If I have enough muscle for this year I cut down to about 11-13% before leaning bulking again, if not enough muscle I start lean bulking around 15%.
Read this sticky will start you in the right direction on how to lose fat.

That's very interesting - thank you for that. I was actually confused about why I can see my core (especially when I do the Valsalva maneuver) at my body fat - I did not realise that the major lifts would help to build it that much!
I guess I will aim for 15% for now. Thank you for the guides - I will have a look through them in a min :)!
