As for all these choices its down to you. You could lose some but I wouldn't bother going to 10% maybe aim to get to 12-13% (you should see some abs) and then bulk. I would guess you would probably be around 70kg bracket if you aimed for 12%.
Or you are able to bulk just find your maintenance TDEE then add a couple 100 calories and only increase them when your strength completely stalls and/or you fail to gain about 2lbs per month.
The choice is yours depends on your overall goal as you will need to do both and neither are a glaring problem for you. (you have some lean body mass and you aren't overweight)
Thank you!
Hey.
I have recently reached 162lbs, and my scale says that I am around 15% bf, which looks pretty accurate to me but I'd be happy for an estimate.
I still can't post links or images as I have less than 50 posts... Pics are on my profile.
Should I continue to cut or begin the bulk already? Thanks
I'd appreciate an estimate of my BF%, I'm 6ft 2 and 199 lbs. Been cutting since January and have lost 18 lbs so far.
I've broken the link below as I cant post links yet, change the XX to tt:

15-16% would be a good guess. You could probably cut a bit more maybe around 150lbs would be the lowest weight I would go for then bulk. The choice is yours really either would be fine.

Before:- 24%
After:- 17% about
I would carry on cutting down to about 165lbs about then think about bulking you should be around 13-14% then.
Hello everyone, I would love some opinions on what my body fat is currently. These 3 pictures are all flexed. My scale currently says 12.7% Body fat. I have a 4 pack right now, and i can see the out line of my bottom two abs but they aren't showing yet. Thanks in advance for everyone's opinions.
Please estimate my bf% before and after.
6ft 2, weight before pictures 293lb, current weight 251lb. Feel as if I have made a lot of gains in strength.
Thank you

I really want to look lean but I don't think I have enough lean body mass. Should I cut or bulk?
Thinking to cut down till 165 (maybe even 160 lbs) for this summer, then bulk at least 6 months.
Thank you kind sir. I shall keep going. Will I look like a holocaust survivor or think I will have decent enough muscle mass?
You won't look too skinny IMHO you should just look lean with some core definition present. I wouldn't personally go lower then 13% as then you may start looking too small. But by going for about 13-14% you will be in a solid place to do a slow lean bulk.
Can you give me a body fat % please..?

As per last time you though i should cut down to around 175 lbs before bulking... do you think i will need to cut further down than 175 lbs?

Very Similar to me to be honest!! Even down the same boxers (Primani if I remember correctly lol) lol but started at 242.4lb and currently at183.6lb, keep up the good work man!! as for me I have scales that say I am 26% body fat currently but they said I was 32% at 242lb so I don't see how that's accurate at all.
Hi all,
Would love a rough estimate.
All unflexed.

I've never followed a proper weight plan before and would like to start something like starting strength / stronglifts.
Do you think it's advisable to a.) do a plan on a slight surplus b.) do a plan on a defecit and cut or c.) something else entirely.
Very new to organised weight training so looking forward to hearing from you!

Noted. I got you. Piece of cake. I'm snacking on protein shakes, eating biltong, going to gym 3 nights a week and doing long 3 hour walks twice a week.
I haven't properly bulked since 2013 when I put on most of my mass....a slow lean bulk would be say 200 above maintenance?

200 above maintenance sounds right. Aim to gain about 1.5-2lbs a month. Just make sure you work out your new maintenance TDEE when adding the surplus to it as it will be lower then when you started your cut.
This link has more info (don't have to follow everything in it this is designed for individuals you are very low bf% and walking on stage but has some good advice)

I have you are 15-16%. You should have a small surplus and train on a progressive workout.
Read these for nutrition help:-
https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=173439001
As for training I would stick to a beginner program and aim to increase weight/ volume it generally is easier following one:-
Pick one of these workouts that suit your individual lifestyle, remember that the link between strength and size is generally that the stronger you are the bigger you are.
https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=175493881
That said some people respond better to different rep range and workout methods however increasing in strength with the right nutrition will cause size increase in most if not all beginners and are the foundations of all training programs. All these programs will work whether you are cutting or bulking, calories control whether you are losing weight or gaining it.
Training programs:-
Starting Strength
https://startingstrength.com/get-started/programs – Very well-known program which is simple to understand and easy to execute, a barbell is required and progression is quick. A highly recommended starting point for all beginners and is still effective for intermediates and advanced alike depending on their needs.
StrongLifts
https://stronglifts.com/5x5/ – Another solid starting point for all beginner weight trainers, doesn't generally have the renowned backing off Starting Strength however personally I find a real solid program to start off with (I personally used this program in the beginning and still do from time to time). Progression is quick and the exercises are the key lifts, as well as this very easy to add supplementary exercises once you progress.
Jim Welder 5/3/1
https://www.t-nation.com/workouts/531-how-to-build-pure-strength – One of the best programs around for strength gains and can easily be adapted and added to in order increase muscular size. His programs are fantastic and in-depth with a vast amount of information available online and especially in his books (I highly recommended buying them if possible).
For beginners it is best to start with this program of 5/3/1:-
https://jimwendler.com/blogs/jimwendler-com/101065094-5-3-1-for-a-beginner
Fierce 5
https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=162916931&page=1 – One of most solid programs designed on this forum and is basically the complete package this has programs that start off with beginners all the way to advanced. I personally have found this to be both enjoyable yet challenging and have added solid amount of muscle doing it.
AllPro
https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=169172473 – A simple but effective method to build solid muscle, does lack some of the elements of strength, however with the basics comes the ability to add strength elements. That said very good at building muscle mass. I have not personally used this one but has a very strong follow here and comes very highly recommended.
After all that remember the best training program is the one you stick to. Muscle development takes time and no training program will cause instant results and require dedication. Therefore stick with the program and only change when you truly feel you have got all you can out of the program.

Most likely but I does depend how lean you want to go. You have lost about 14lbs and I would say about 5% bf. So you are around 22% so dropping another 15lbs would have you at 17-18% then from generally you can assess if you have enough muscle mass to cut lower or maybe consider bulking.
Hi all. I am a 19 yo male. 5’11”, 144 lbs. I have almost no muscle despite weight training for about 6 months. Not sure if I should get my bf% down or continue bulking. Please can somebody see my post #5578, will be continuing to cut regardless but just wondered about bf%, thank you.
I have been trying to cut down to to abs so around 10% BF, I have been doing this for a while, around 6 months and started off around 85KG, now I am 70kg ish, I have been training intense for 2 months however I have hit a stage where I am seeing no progress, I was wondering if you could tell me my BF,
I am 175-177CM
19 Year Old

I have use the boditrax today and suggested to me 14.1%,
What would you recommend for me to do, I am often a skinner however this week I have been on a bad week, not focusing on eating etc, What would you recommend for me to do in order to achieve abs or decrease BF to 10-11% BF

Your scales must be half decent as I would say 13% around about.

Certainly carry on bulking. You are around 14% but you do need to build more lean body mass. Make sure you are following a structured program and aim to add about 2lbs a month. It takes time but if you are doing a decent program you will gain muscle if you are gaining weight, getting enough protein, getting stronger/ increasing work volume.

Tad higher I have you at around 17-18%. I wouldn't bother going to 10% as you most likely will lack lean body mass to have noticeable abs however you should probably lose a bit more then lean bulk for a solid amount of time. If your question is how to lose weight its is simply a case of lower calories and increasing activity. If you have not lost any weight for 2/3 weeks drop calories by 300.
I would aim to drop about 10-15lbs max then lean bulk. Make sure you follow a structured weight training program makes it easier then making your own.
Hello i'm 19yrs old, 5 11 177 pounds and was wondering what my body fat percentage is. Also do you guys think I should bulk up more or cut?
Im 25, 5'9", 176 pounds (been on a fat loss journey through weightlifting/bodybuilding workouts for 8 months now, down from 265 pounds) currently (for the last month) doing full body twice a week and 1 upper and 1 lower hypertrophy day (4 day split) and have seen the most change in my physique since i started.
Pics from today (morning weight was 175.4 pounds) pics are in my bodyspace (cant post links)
Scales put me at between 16-18%
Calliper test on myself puts me between 12-13%
I still hold some loose skin / flab on my undertits, my lower abs and my back.
Any feedback is welcomed. Scared to come out of a deficit and to stop seeing the numbers go down but my ribs are starting to stick out so i think its time.....just want to be as lean as possible first.
Thanks!

16-17%. You could go either way but as you are 19 and already bulking stick with it a bit longer. You still look lean so no worries.

13-14%. No way of knowing I am afraid on how long really. I would guess your weight would be around 150-155lbs bracket depending on water weight loss. If you are losing a pound a week (no certainty 500 calories drop a day will do that) around 12 weeks.

Considering those places are where most of my fat is, and that's where I lose size in every week. It's safe to expect that will continue.

IF you are concerned about gyno please see a doctor as gyno is a medical condition and only a professional can diagnose it. That said I always believe in 90% of cases if you build more muscle and/or lose more fat it will decrease as most cases aren't true gyno. In your case you should build more muscle especially on the chest that will stretch the fat out more. Bf% = 14-15%

Ok update, I had double jaw surgery and couldn’t move and was on a liquid diet of purée chicken/veggies and high protein shakes. I can’t lift weights again until middle of May but lost 10lbs in almost 2 weeks(from the purée) I’m 6’2” ,32 years and 183lbs, what’s my bf%? Thanks.

After you have recovered I would advise start bulking soon after once you have worked out your TDEE maintenance. Then aim to add about 2lbs a month and a good program (see workout stickies for ideas)

Around 18%. You have a bit of loose skin which makes it a tad difficult but I would say in that range based on you can see some outline of your core structure.
Hi guys, long time lurker first time poster.
Just wondering would anyone have a rough idea of my body fat percentage?
I'm roughly around 12 stone 1lbs/2lbs and 5 ft 10.
I've a long way to go before I can even think about being ripped, but hoping to start my new diet to shred some fat around the hips, chest and waist etc and hopefully some day I'll get down to under 10 percent
Thanks in advance!
