I always pick up their annual releases and I am always disappointed. Their best beer is Official which is crazy considering it’s one of the most commercially available. I grabbed HopSlam yesterday which I haven’t enjoyed the last few years. We will see if it’s the same malty mess they seem to produce.
Will say their BA expedition is legit.
Haven't had a Bell's in a while tbh. I've been drinking mostly bourbon and scotch lately along with Botonist gin martini's. Best beer I've had in a while was the box Fugi sent to me. And Ghost in the Machine is a staple.
Every single one of those beers are overrated. Horny toppler in particular.
Where do you live? I can probably name you 3000 beers better than all of those within a 1 hour radius.
Agreed on Heady Topper, Hop Ju Ju shat all over it.
-
Maybe it’s just me but all the OG brews I’ve tried are mediocre at best minus anything from Treehouse or Modern Times. Heady Topper was malty af, Hop Juju I was able to try both cans and a growler and it’s also malty af. The can was surprisingly better. Now Haze, Green, Julius etc all were very good and tons of hops.

Modern Times just moved in to Houston recently and I've had some good brew from them. IPA's in general have come a long way from the West Coast Pine bombs and the East Coast malt heavy brews. I'm enjoying the more citrusy hazy IPA's. And for what it's worth, Maine Brewing is really over rated. I didn't enjoy Lunch as much as I was expecting to from all the hype.

Agree on Maine. I have had almost all of them and only Dinner was exceptional.
I love the haze but I also enjoy a good west coast. A good west coast should be clean, hoppy and crisp with some bite.

I have never had a good treehouse can. I was lucky enough to try A LOT of stuff pre-canning days and none of their canned beers come close to what I ever drank out of growlers.
Moved to NC in 2019. Most Burial IPAs have this insanely awful hop burn on the finish of the beer. I hate it. I was lucky enough to find a brewery in the GHETTO of the state called Hopfly. Their IPAs are soft and subtle but still juicy and hazy. Absolutely no hop burn and can be had at the grocery store, bottle, shop, and virtually everywhere else. Makes me think of some Toppling Goliath IPAs honestly, albeit at a much higher price.

Hopfly sucks compared to Burial. But, if you like lighter beers with plenty of hops then Hopfly has that. Burial is a thicker, intense hoppy brewer. You still need to get some New Anthem, best ipa brewery in the state,

I wonder how long they will be in business. I don't think my grocery store (a Kroger owned company) even carries them anymore.

They'll be around for a while although, I don't see many six packs flying off the shelf or Stone taps at beer pubs.

Ghost in the Machine on tap is the bee's fooking knee's!

I hated my job in Illinois but my company was/is huge, sites all over the world. If I couldn't get to Sweden/Finland/Denmark/Netherlands, I wanted to go somewhere with warmer weather but leverage the internal network. Came to NC. BUT that site was run far far worse than the Illinois site, so I left and moved to a huge pharma company just outside Raleigh. Things are a little better so far, but we'll see how she goes. I'm loving being about 30 mins from Burial and Barrel Culture, maybe an hour from Casita Brewing, and like 1.5-2 hrs from Charlotte.

You’re in haze heaven if you know where to go.
Bottle Revs or Tasty Beverage for New Anthem drops. And drops from other big names. Try Resident Culture, Heist, Bearded Iris etc which distribute their. The best brewery in Raleigh is Funguys (excluding Burial because they are technically Asheville). Try their ipas or smoothie sours. Casita is good, glad he opened his own place finally.
But seriously, get New Anthem. They are probably the best haze brewer in the country.

Had a nice little goat island porter last night. This thread is still alive?

After I looked at their shyt, I've definitely seen them but never tried them. People at the store (obviously boners) never say they're a good ipa. Been to Burial a zillion times and already know everyone that works there lol. Get the hookup on free shortfilled bottles of stout  But Burial IPAs have horrible hop burn in the finish; if they could find a way to smooth out that finish, they'd be at Veil/EQ level of IPA IMO. Been wanting to go to Funguys for awhile; been disappointed with Barrel Culture IPAs and most sours but some of their stouts have been solid. I know Casita very well too ;) I think I've had Heist but I can't recall now and I really don't use Untapperd anymore or I'd probably be up a few more thousand lol.

Not a big fan of Barrel Culture especially ipas. Maybe 1 or 2 have been decent. Burial stouts are killer. I still have a dozen or so from my time there. They nail the imperials. I like their ipas better than you do but they are not NA level. For NA, see if they have Shade, Neon God, Ba’al, Amen Break, Kill The Headlights or Songs Unsung (any version). Those are their most distributed and all are delicious. Above Veil, Eq level. At Treehouse level imo, maybe even better.
I was kind of pissed when Casita opened. We were moving around that time and I lived in Clayton. 30m drive through the back roads to get to his place. Fuk I was pissed. I still have a bottle of Southward. Great stout.

Word. Where are you now? Ya that sucks that Casita opened practically right down the road.
I don't think Treehouse is any good man, so maybe I'll hate NA, lol.

West Palm. Some good breweries here like Civil Society, 3 Sons, JWakefield etc.
But srs, get New Anthem. You won’t find better haze.
