Notes from today:
Patio had some icy puddles and I felt a little hesitant to get at it, mainly didn't want to fail a squat. But it might have worked to my advantage because I hit my scheduled DLs in the morning. I have some foam floor pads, think light duty stall mats that I'll have to break out because I foresee snow melt being an issue over coming weeks. I'd rather deal with sub zero temps if it were up to me.

I don't have DOMs but I do feel like abs are sufficiently trained with front squats. The only direct ab work I do is at times during team conditioning. I definitely have an easier time than some of the more athletic guys on the team. Anecdotal but worth noting.

Guessing you play in an 18+ league right? I had to take the past 2 years off of Rugby because I had to focus on my studies, however now I am planning to join my local club again. I'm pretty sure I'll be playing in the 18+ league. Not looking forward to tackling guys weighing 250+ a 6ft+ :/. I got rocked horribly back when I was a junior in highschool. Dude was like 3x my weight. I could barely walk off the field after he tackled me.

Going to try a different grip on front squats tomorrow. I can clean grip just fine but feel like upper back is more prone to rounding without raised heel. Going to try something in between cross and clean. Arms won't actually cross but hands will provide a little stabilization on the bar around the neck. Will report with results.

New grip will need some getting used to. Failed 285 because I might have been too upright. At least until I get comfortable this way. I feel like I'll have less frequent forward leaning grinders but when I do it will be harder to salvage than regular clean grip. ATG was easy to hit.

Thanks man. Truth is I'm not very athletic in real life, and I was pretty lazy in my 20s. But I've found a role with my rugby club and I'm trying to constantly take it to the next level. Keep it real, man.
