I've had this same issue with like 3 girls since me and my girlfriend broke up...
I have to end up just telling them I just got out of a relationship or some bull**** that makes them understand I really mean pls stop.

Well .. Met another girl at school, went on a trip to a college with her. Cuddled and made out afterwards (12 hours straight..). And the other day we went to the movies and I almost smashed ... It happens to everyone to get the butterflies, it helps more not to think of having them at all which is what I have learned. It takes time to not go full retard with girls you have just met, I still go full retard when I am with girls I actually like or start to date (because I actually care). There is no permanent solution to this, just have the right mind set next time you are in this situation. Don't worry about all the things that could go wrong, just get those out of your head completely. Be confident in yourself, try projecting your voice next time (don't scream) so this confidence will be known (without coming of as a total D-bag). I find that it shows that you aren't as nervous as you may think you are. But then again everyone has their own opinions.
But the main point I am trying to get across is just believe in yourself and be confident. If you are not confident it's going to happen (most of the time). That's what I think.

The bold part is really really true. He is also right about "not giving a ****" if you actually like a girl, never go in with that mind set if you truly like the girl. You'll tend to screw up more by not thinking about your decisions and what not.
