HIIT Cardio 3/week, lifting 3/week, and ate with a calorie deficit...albeit a very large one. No Cheating
Hi folks, first post here. Wanted to get some thoughts on my progress so far. First pic is from Sep when I decided to start working out again. Kind of went up and down with it and recently started up again after new years. :p Pic on the right is from last week. Started at 244, down to 233. I don't have a specific goal in mind, I'm just trying to not turn into a roll of cookie dough.
My routine is 4 days a week.
Mon/Thur - chest, biceps, back and shoulders
Tues/Fri - legs, abs, and triceps.
Today is my off-day but I'm thinking about doing some high intensity cardio instead.
p.s. Thanks to everyone who posts in this thread... it's really inspiring.
Here's my before and after. I don't feel like I'm were I want to be yet, still working on it.

update
Slow progress is still progress. It has certainly taken some time, but I have learned a lot about fitness, nutrition, and my body. I'm only getting better and learning more. Hopefully, this can help motivate someone.
I just started training 8 weeks ago. I've only cut 15 pounds but I'm getting major gains. My incline has went up 90lbs. My brother in law is a personal trainer and trains with me everyday.

It took me 6.5 years. first 2 years was diet and research. started lifting after that. cycles of bulking and cutting over the last 4 years. and here i am. goal is 190 this year. ultimate goal is 200lbs 10-14% bf
Here's my 2013 progress from (almost) heaviest during year (heaviest was 165 lb.) to 12/31/13. Crazy what a difference a few pounds makes. I added weightlifting to my regime in late November. The plan is to keep going into 2014 and finally have some definition to my abs!
Always good to go though here..\m/
Time before first and last picture?
Can't remember exactly. Must be a couple of years at least as I kept falling off the bandwagon. The past year I've gone from 105kg to what I am now. It has taken me awhile!
First time poster, long time reader. Almost a 2 year progress right here.
First photo is old one, second photo is the updated photo of me.
Now I plan on going on a long clean bulk. Maybe a full year bulk.

Awesome Job mate, got a quick tip for your lean bulk. It is normal that you feel like cutting again before the year is over, because you don't want end up fat again. But just keep going with the bulk.
Atleast that's how I felt and I gave in (to the cut). So I went on short bulk cut cycles, leaving me in limbo for 2years. Now I'm in a long clean bulk. And now there is progress again. Hope this information can be useful to you
This is where I am right now.... Lost abour 50 pounds so far.

Awesome bro, keep it up. If I may ask, what was your weight before and after, diet, stats and workout routine?
EDIT: repped you

Thanks mate. And I appreciate the tip, that is something I worried about as I started the bulk.

Thanks. Repped you back also.
Weight before: 218lbs was my highest ever
Lowest weight I reached: 140lbs
Weight now: was 148lbs last time I weight myself and that was a few weeks ago.
Honesty, the first 1.5 years out of 2, I feel like I wasted a lot of time even though I loss a lot of weight and was doing good. It was 100% Cardio, no lifting. 1 hour cardio a day. My diet was okay but nothing special - No soda, french fries, sweets, etc. I gave up all that. But I wish now that I was lifting and eating more protein during that time. I didn't even think of any of that.
The past .5 years I really taken it the next level. My diet is great. Lots of chicken, salads, cottage cheese, fruits, veg, etc. ALl the good stuff. That is what I eat 95% of the time. My workout routine. I workout 5 days a week in the morning(Monday Chest, Tuesday Back, Wednesday Arms, Thursday Legs, Friday Shoulders). I lift for about 40-45min, then get about 15-20min cardio to end the day.
2.5 years from 211lb to 143lb now 155lb
but here on the right side I was 196lb unfortunately I didn't took pics when I was 211lb.
left side was taken 12/25/13 almost a month ago :)
My little over a year transformation, went down over 40lbs, and gained a lot more muscle. I wish I would of had a picture of myself with my shirt off for my before.

I've been a silent member of this forum for a while now.. But after stumbling across this thread I decided to share my story. My journey began with a doctors visit in late 2009. Doc gave me the normal spiel, about how being overweight may increase chances of HBP/diabietes. However my blood test showed that my liver function had been affected.. A specialist visit was scheduled.. That scared me.. Everything lead back to the same thing... I needed to lose weight (I was around 280+ at my largest) .. It still took a little prodding by my wife (she sent me a very unflattering pix of me sitting on the bed. I looked horrible.) So February 2010 I started with P90X and a strict diet of no white carbs. I went one whole year no bread/pasta/sweets. 60lbs fell off quick. I relaxed and stopped working out with the intensity.. I guess all the compliments went to my head. Couple that with my mother dying in Dec 2011 and I picked up 30 lbs. Around April 2012 I snapped out of my funk and began to workout again.. The weight came off easier than the first time.. March 2013 I finally hit the 100lb mark. So my thoughts went to what next.. I'm in the best shape of my life.. Sleep apnea all but gone. But I felt I needed another goal to chase. A few of my Instagram followers are competitive bodybuilders and they suggested I do a show or two. So I agreed! I plan to do two shows in Alabama this summer.. Just to say I did it!
Any advice that anyone can offer a newbie I would surely appreciate! I'm a really good listener. And I'll always use the search function before asking a question to the forum.

Like everyone else has said before me, you guys are fantastic motivation. About 6-7 years ago, my friend and I were doing great in the gym and getting the results that we wanted. I was probably in better overall shape than i was in high school as a three sport athelete. Low and behold, we stopped going and in the time since I've ballooned up to my heaviest ever. I had the excuse that life was too busy to put in the effort what with being married and becoming a parent in Oct '13. I was unhappy with myself and reminded of it everytime i looked in the mirror or shopped for clothes. Just recently we decided to get after it again and we have been going hard for the last week. Obviously, no major physical changes as of yet but in just the five days I feel so much better and know that I'm improving myself. I will post back eventually and hopefully can share something to everyone that is as motivational as you all have been to me! Congrats again to everyone and the awesome changes!

Thanks. July 2012 I learned how to count calories and would just go walking every day. August 2012 I started doing starting strength. From July 12 to June 2013 I went from 320 to 228, then from July 13 to end of 2013 I bulked and went from 230 to 250. Plan on cutting now just have to get back used to being consistent. Been pretty much maintaining weight from dec 13 to now
My transformation from freshman year to senior year! (DIDNT LIFT ONCE FRESHMAN YEAR-BEGGING OF SENIOR YEAR) Just starting so basically all that weight lose and lean muscle growth was from joining the wrestling team. last two pictures are me currently. Hoping to make some gains from lifting ! currently bulking
