Just a quick update on how I'm getting on ! I started going to the gym winter 2012, well I say I went to the gym, I skipped a lot, but didn't change my diet (being at Uni : lots of beers / crisps / macdonalds / etc....). In April I moved back home (finished Uni) and started focusing on my diet more : weighing shizzle, working out 4 times a week and doing cardio on the off days ! My brother who has also been overweight for a while has been doing it with me ! So it helps working out with someone ! Also this thread motivates like mad, so many amazing changes....
Anyway here are a few pictures (I know I still have a long way to go !).
First 2 : Day 1
3rd : 7th April
5,6,7 : Today
N.B : If anyone could estimate my bf% it would be greatly appreciated ! :)
Keep going buddy. estimating about 20% body fat there mate maybe 18.... No lower.... Good progress with weight loss though.

LOL... Thanks. I'm coming to grips with the fact that I'm almost 40. However, I'm trying to defy nature and look as if I'm still in my 20's.

Good job everyone...as soon as I get 50 post I'll be back to share my never ending transformation..

Really inspiring thread. Good Job guys! It really motivates me to keep on going. It's been 9 months since I started to get serious with my journey. It took me a while to get used to prepare my meal to get the right nutrition and get serious in going to the gym.
I'm attaching my "sort of" before (aug 2012) and after (jan 2013 & mar 2013) pic. I know there's not much of a change but I can see some muscles forming already. =) My metabolism is so slow that I feel the need to do extra effort on cardio otherwise I'll get fat. But I know I need to bulk up and do less boxing. Hoping my next update will be better.

still a long way to go
It started in december 2011, I was 290 on a good day ;) and I was sick of it, so I decided to loss it, I dont know my actual fat loss, but on the scale its been anywhere from 60 to 70 pounds. I feel great and Im not slowing down now, I want to hit 200, so Im about 20lbs away now.
edit: the picture is inaccurate, my start weight was 290

how about loose skin? - have aany?
-
I have them also.. no loose skin (luckily) due to slow weight loss but insides of my legs up around the groin area are deep purple rainbow like stretch marks and a few small on my stomach.... They are tattoos of a previous fat life we used to lead....
we call them battlewounds :-)
-
Well, I personally HATE my battle wounds and loose skin. I hope it is going to tighten up some more. It's done amazingly well considering, but I want it... GONE. My battle wounds are epic. I am a red-head and so every stretch mark shows because of my pale skin. And I got stretch marks literally from my armpits, down to MID CALF!!!! I didn't even know that could HAPPEN!
And thanks for the comments everyone! We are all kicking the ass out of our previous fat selves.

This thread really is inspiring. I started out 325 and am now sitting at about 205 with the battlewounds to prove it. Still a long way to go but i didnt put all the weight on overnight. Here's my diet:
Diet plan is based on eating a protein and carb balance every 3 hours. The olive oil or flax seed oil is important due to the high protein low fat aspects of this plan. You can also substitute 8oz of lean sirloin or skirt steak every now and then to add some variety, but not too often.
Meal 1 (7 AM)
1 cup of dry oats mixed with water
1 cup of egg beaters or 1 cup egg whites and one whole egg
Meal 2 (10AM)
Protein Shake
a protein powder (with around 50 grams of protein) mixed with ¾ cup or 40 grams of carbs from cream of rice, grits, or oatmeal if tired of oatmeal use apple, banana
1 Tablespoon of Flaxseed Oil (Spectrum brand is best) or olive oil
Meal 3 (1PM)
1 cup of brown rice, or medium sized baked potato, or 1 cup of oatmeal
2 cups of green beans, broccoli or any other desired vegetable
8 ounces of chicken, turkey, or lean fish
Meal 4 (4 PM) Protein Shake
a protein powder (with around 50 grams of protein) mixed with ¾ cup or 40 grams of carbs from cream of rice, grits, or oatmeal if tired of oatmeal use apple, banana
1 Tablespoon of Flaxseed Oil (Spectrum brand is best) or olive oil
Meal 5 (7 PM)
1 cup of brown rice, or medium sized baked potato, or 1 cup of oatmeal
2 cups of green beans, broccoli or any other desired vegetable
8 ounces of chicken, turkey, or lean fish
Meal 6 (9 PM) Protein Shake
a protein powder (with around 50 grams of protein) mixed with ¾ cup or 40 grams of carbs from cream of rice, grits, or oatmeal if tired of oatmeal use apple, banana
1 Tablespoon of Flaxseed Oil (Spectrum brand is best) or olive oil
I'm still losing fat...but here's the pics I have:

I lift heavy and hard for almost two hours a day...we use a block workout to keep up the cardio...and also do a crossfit style workout twice a week...I still have about 25lbs of fat I want to lose.

I also managed to lose fat, build muscle. Have a good muscle base under that fat helped, but I KNOW I have made gains as well. For the people who are new to heavy lifting, it is easier for us.

I think I can finally post here :)

-Got an office job, stopped playing sports but kept same sh!t diet (got fat fast)
-“Lifted” on and off for a few years but never stuck to it
-Son was born late 2010 and I got motivated
Far left here. Weight around 235lbs

thanks, it wasn't easy and I had a few set backs but i'm happy now and I can concentrate on building muscle, with a good diet and good workout regime. which is no where near as strict as it was at the beginning, but if i fall back into my old ways of drinking and eating it will come back very quickly, so i need to keep my discipline. I'm fantastic at loosing weight but even better at putting it back on lol

Even though Im not where I want to be as far as fat goes...I'm tired of being on a cut...so decided to try to put on some more muscle......well this last weekend I decided to have my first cheat weekend in 4 months.....I ate anything and I'd been craving that whole time...I went to bed sick as a dog on sumday and woke up Monday morning 7lbs heavier than that previous Saturday morning....here it is Friday and after eating perfect all week I'm still up 4 pounds...I don't know how it's possible...but the scale doesn't lie...lol (I'm blaming water weight!)

I always blame water weight and then stop taking creatine lol hahaha!!
I'm exactly like that when I have my cheat day on a sunday, I look and feel fatter on the Monday, this is probably in my head, but it still feels this way.
If I go away with the mrs. over the weekend or go for a few nights out on the spin (in a row - sorry I'm from London) I also feel fatter and guilty. As I know my body puts weight on very quickly, I only have to smell a pie or doughnut or chocolate bar for me to put on weight.
I just make sure the next opportunity in the gym is more intense to get me in that fat burning zone, I usually try and super set everything after a cheat day to keep my heart rate up. but its whatever works best for you I suppose.

Ok, Ok, I admit, It is not difficult if you incorporate your nutrition and training schedule into your NATURAL way of life. It could not be more easier.
But if you cant handle (Good, quality, great tasting, proper food) then this forum aint really for you.

Not sure which topic I should be posting in. I'm much leaner after having lost almost 20lb, but at the same time I'm much bigger. So I guess fat to fit is still more accurate technically. :)
3 years worth of progress:

Hello All. Just decided to join the board. I thought I'd post a before and after pic of my progress to this point.
I'm 41, 6'4" and currently 242lbs. I started off last August at 330 lbs. I have no idea what BF% I was but is was very high I'm sure as I was not very active. I've been moderately fit a few times in my life such when I played sports in high school and again in my early thirties. The last few year it just got out of hand and the sudden death of my 42 yr old brother in law really lit a fire under my ass to get in shape. I started off just walking around my neighborhood then eventually progressed back in to the gym to lifting weights. My goal is to reach around 10-12% BF. Once there I'll reevaluate and decide what's next.
Anyway, here's the before and after pic.

Thanks Man. I hear you about the legs. The pictures are a bit deceiving since I 6'4". I have really long legs. My calves aren't as wide as I'd like but my quads are pretty damn big. I work them real hard every week until it's hard to walk the next few days. Genetics I suppose :). Picture below.
