I knew that feel back in HS for sure. I actually don't look too bad in a swim suit right now long as I tuck my pooch lol.

After garnering some life experience in school and breaking up with a whale high school sweetheart, I decided it was time to make some healthy changes and reinvent myself. It happened in steps...I cut my hair a bit. Lost 10-20 lbs. (See bodyspace progress pics for full timeline) I had to build some type of momentum for myself. When I first started losing weight I did it extremely unhealthy with no concept of macronutrients or proper dieting.

(270 lbs in 2006-2007 ish, about 60 lbs lost)

I spent hundreds of hours reading articles and forums on BB.com when I started lurking and eventually joined. My best friend got a personal trainer and really inspired me after seeing him lose about 50 lbs from 250 - 200. I decided I could do this.

I got down to 235 in Feb 2009 after an 8 week fitness challenge at a local gym. I lost about 25 lbs in 8 weeks.

I started to notice my skin on my abs was hanging pretty badly. After trying to find out more I read through a bunch of articles stating that "loose skin was a myth". I believed those articles, thinking I just had to lose more fat.

Though you cant see the skin directly in this below pic, you can see my attempt to get my body fat down as much as possible. This is the skinniest I ever was, about 188 in that picture. I didn't look very good, even though I was actively lifting at this point, I had been cutting for so long losing that 140 lbs. I decided to go on my first real bulk. ~188 - 208 is the difference between this from June, 2010.

You can see from the former fatty pics that I carried most of my weight in my belly. I actually consider myself pretty lucky. My ass, chest, face, and other features all came back quite nicely after losing the weight, but I couldn't shake the loose abdominal skin. This is what it looks like.

I'm almost happy with the way I look. I'd like to be a little leaner, but this freakin stomach skin (which still looks like the above pic) is killing me.

So I went and saw this plastic surgeon. His name is Dr. Steven Morris. He is doing the surgery to remove the skin on 12/28/12.

The total cost for me is $5900 out of pocket for the surgeons fee up front. My insurance should cover 90% of the hospital and anesthesia fees, which leaves me with about $500 to cover. Insurance may cover 30-60% of the surgeons fee as well but wont know until its been billed. I'm hoping my final cost when said and done is $4000-$4500.

Words of advice: Never get fat. Wish my parents would have guided me in a direction away from obesity. Took a lot of life experience to completely re-engineer my ethic and way of life. I usually hover between 205-215 now which is a weight I'm pretty happy with, although I may try to cut to 185-190 after the surgery. We'll see.

Wow, so many amazing transformations. It's truly inspiring!!! Here's my progress to date. I've lost 165 pounds so far. Down from 426 pounds at my highest in February. Still a work in progress, but determined to reach my goals!

Advance apologies! I've used several types of cameras while documenting this so lighting might be off and poses were all over the place. Wish I had done a better job for sure. Warning, I've also thrown some of the mandatory "lighting-enhanced" photos while flexing for fun haha.

These pictures are from Week 1 and Week 16. I have been cutting for 4 months now. I started at 182 lbs and now I'm at 156 lbs. What do you guys think ??

I love this thread. So inspirational. Everyone has done so well!

My transformation isn't the most impressive but I went from 203lb to 158lb over a few years. I also put on a fair amount of muscle in that time.

Thanks bro. My mom is impressed every time I visit her. I've tried to help her lose some weight, she might lose 10 lbs but falls off and gains it back. I've given her a flak a few times for not helping me more as a child to make healthy decisions but I can't really blame her for her own culture and lifestyle choices.

Wow good on you! Your transformation is very inspirational :) I wasn't physically big, but my parents haven't raised me with the best lifestyle when it comes to diet..my mum's family loves the pastas, lasagnas,- anything with heavy carbs and cheese! ..and Dad was genetically blessed so didn't care much for giving me leftover pizza for breakfast or dessert as my dinner. Did you find the change in your diet difficult or was the motivation to trim down too powerful and killed the cravings? I'm lucky in that I have my dad's genetics but decided to change my lifestyle before my mum's kicked in - she was overweight for over 15 years.
Goodluck with the surgery, they can do amazing things these days and I hope you feel even more proud of yourself once you see the results :)

These are all amazing, every time I feel down and not be able to do it, I come here and all you guys give me so much inspiration. I look up too all of you. Well the reason I am posting is for an update. I am coming up on almost a year of training and dieting, and so far I have lost a total of 110lbs. From 350 to 240lbs. I have 40lbs left to lose for my goal, doing so I hope to lose most of the remaining fat on my body and tone up as much as possible. I'm also having trouble with skin but that will come in time. My journey is far from done but I'm pushing none the less. Proud of everyone one here, you guys are all my heroes. And now the pics lol:

I have done some comparison pics side and front on. I am now trying to put on more muscle, and have probably put on a kilo or two, but I am paranoid about putting on fat.

These after pics were from a couple of months ago. My profile pic (hopefully) shows a bit of progress in putting on muscle.

I am worried about falling back into bad habits, so I am still really careful about my calorie intake.

I'd say there was a couple different phases of the diet. In the beginning it was about making small changes, cutting out pop and simple sugars. It was definitely the most difficult at first because really, it was like breaking an addiction.

I find the most important thing for me is generating momentum and the hardest thing is having that momentum broken. If I am eating cleanly for 3 or 4 days straight at that point I've gained enough momentum where I say to myself, "There is no way in hell I'm going to undo what I've just worked the past 3 days for." I feed off that momentum to push me into continuous dieting.

When I break down to go drink with some friends and eat a pizza, it shatters my momentum pretty harshly. I'll generally eat poorly for the next 2-4 days where I have to psychologically retrain myself again and start the momentum from 0. It's never easy really but I'm at a point now where I allow myself to have those times occasionally. I've really been trying to build muscle more this past year ad have been eating an above average amount of calories and I'm definitely not as lean as I would like to be. After this surgery is over I'm going to continue dieting hard into 2013 and see how things shake down for me.

One other point I want to make however is that it's important to take periods of time off of hard dieting and try to work on muscle building. I definitely got to a point in my weight loss progress where I became borderline obsessive with calorie restricton and it was extremely prohibitive to my overall physique and muscle maintaining capability. The other side of that coin is that I think it's important for people to really consider the quality and healthful nature of their calorie sources, I generally try to make 80%+ of my calorie intake even when not dieting from non packaged whole foods, whey or casein protein, and fresh produce.

Just finished up a mini cut. In 10 weeks went from 238 lbs at 15% body fat (based on my caliper) to 220 lbs at 6-6.5% body fat (based on same caliper). Here is a before and a few after pics.

Dont have any good pics of me when I was really heavy bc I avoided taking pictures lol but in the first pic I am the one who still has a face with the beard. I actually was 30 lbs heavier then that at one point! The next two are me now, and the third one is the little bit of lose skin I have which is bothering me : / I am hoping there is some fat in there and that it will recover over time! Hopefully age and genetics on my side. Do any of you guys have experiences like this? Do you think it will tighten back up? or will i need surgeory

I was just really unhappy with the way I looked as well as some photos that I looked absolutely despicable in
This was the jump start to my journey and I am happier and much healthier then what I was.
My next part of my journey is to continue to lose body fat and gain some lean muscle mass so this is a new exciting challenge for me.

I read this thread all the time for motivation. Awesome work, everybody.
In the last seven months, and for some reason mostly in the last TWO, I've dropped close to 50 pounds. Slowly, yes. But I wasn't strict on diet other than keeping a deficit and I didn't want to burn myself out exercising 6/7 days a week and end up quitting. I'm happy with what I've done.

I'm not exactly "fit" yet, and I haven't reached my newest set of goals, but I figured I'd post my progress so far to see what everyone thinks. I don't know about you guys, but I see a difference, and I definitely FEEL a difference. I'm excited to push forward with this.

I did not. I do have flacid skin and it looks some what loose on the bottom of my belly when I'm sitted. However, loose skin is mostly genetic and honestly, there is little to nothing you can do to avoid it. Reducing body fat usually helps to give it a better look, though.

How did you get ur abs like that im just starting and I have a similar build to your starting look please help!!!

I still have lots of fat in front of my abs to lose and when they are visible are mostly because of the abs itself instead of low bodyfat, I believe.

That said, the usual is if you decrease your bodyfat, the abs will come.

As for me in particular, I do not do, and almost never did, any direct ab workout. However, my training has squats, deadlifts and other exercises that demands the abs for balance (even standing barbell biceps curls does it) what I believe contributed to its development.

Firstly sorry, I really didn't know where else to put this picture up.

First pic was 3/4 the way through my 75+ lb weight loss journey. The second picture is several months of hitting the back hard (especially the traps) while maintaining around 190 lbs. I have a bunch more pictures of my year-long transformation but am going to wait until January to throw those up.
