I would say if I had stayed on the same path I would be about 500 pounds by now... I come from a middle eastern background where we live to eat. Food is very important and people always keep stuffing more on your plate, combine that with not so great genetics and a huge appetite and you have the triple threat right there. I was heading towards a very dangerous path, fitness changed my life. i started losing weight around 18-19 years old, I would read up on bodybuilding.com trying to research the best way to achieve my dream body. i wish i had found this thread earlier, it is very inspirational. So i lost some weight and by the time i was 20 i was around 280. then i got into lifting, and that's when i saw great results, i went to about 240, 10-12 body fat % so i wasn't bad but i wasn't where i dreamed of being. i alwyas wanted that ripped 6 pack, and i was willing to work harder than ever to get it. it wasn't until this year where i really understood the science behind nutritional approaches, and it really took me to that next level. below is a pic of me in jan of this year. so i made huge gains this year alone, and it's all because i understood training and nutrition better and i also understood my body a lot better. that is the main thing, understanding your body and needs and what works best for you. once you have that figured the sky is the limit!
Amazing transformation! I did not know such a drastic change was physically possible.
I look similar to you in the picture you posted in this comment.
How long did it take to go from the picture posted here and to your profile picture? What was your routine and diet like?
Congratz again!

Wasn't really keeping up with calories or macros back then I just ate a clean white meat maybe 2-3 onces per meal for breakfast lunch and dinner along with a veggie to make me feel full an sometimes whole wheat bread brown rice or unenriched oatmeal and I ate either another protein sorce or a fruit in between meals depending on what was available. I drank only water and protein shakes after with and before and after workouts. I later learned this obviously was not the best nutrition which was why even though I toned up I didn't have a whole lot of muscle.

Hey everybody, just wanted to congrutulate these AWESOME transformantions posted here, this thread is really inspirational to me.
I've been cutting since june, started at 230lbs, now I'm at 187lbs, although my transformation is not over yet. I'm looking foward to end my diet at around March, and I'm surely posting full body pictures when i get there, for now i just have a face transformation picture. Oh, and sorry for my grammar, I'm brazilian.
1st picture: April 2012
2st picture: November 27th, at my "high school" graduation, which motivated me a lot to hit the gym.
Thanks.

About time I do this!
At my heaviest I was at 270+. I don't have any pictures from this time due to the fact looking at myself when I realized I was actually that big killed me. I loved beer and I loved food and it wrecked the body I once had.
My diet when dropping all the weight consisted of asparagus, broccoli and leafy greens for breakfast. Lunch was LEAN meat up to an allowance of 5 ounces with cottage cheese and more asparagus, broccoli, watercress, horseradish and about a 1/4lb of jalapenos. Dinner was multivitamins, carrots, more jalapenos and whatever other veggies I had in the fridge. Fruit would consist of apples and bananas.
Exercise was a backpack with a couple gallons of water in it and hiking through the hills everyday. THICK brush where you had to crawl and climb, pull and push your way through it. Push-ups, pull up and curls
I dropped down to 185 at my lowest but dont have any pictures of that. I'm sitting around 190-200 right now. Trying to start up again on a plan to cut my fat down further and stop losing muscle mass. As of lately I've been losing my weight cycling everywhere. Going to start hitting the weights and introduce more protein into my diet like I should have had in the first place. Here's my before and afters.
Motivation: Watching others fail and telling myself - I can do it

great work everyone, gotta say I skimmed through this thread for about an hour or so for inspiration.
Growing up I was always the fat kid struggling with weight and eating problems throughout my life. I reached over 300 pounds (130 kg, 28% body fat) by the age of 16, and I was heading towards a very dangerous path. I once ate 34 slices of pizza at an eating contest (winning of course); to be that overweight and able eat that much as a teenager was very risky. If I had stayed on that path I would not expect to live a very long or healthy life. My body is still covered in stretch marks from just how over weight I was. I always hated them, trying to find out ways to get rid of them. Now, I love them! They are my “tattoo’s”, they are scars that I will have for life constantly reminding me every day of where I have been, what I have done to be where I am today. Growing up I was teased and made fun of at school, I was terrified to ever take my shirt off in public. I would fake being sick whenever we had to go swimming for class, and wouldn’t enjoy going to the beach because I could never take my shirt off like my friends and class mates. I didn’t enjoy a lot of things growing up because of the fact that I was overweight. I knew I was different, and I knew that people looked at me differently. One day I just had enough, promising myself that I will make a change. I had a dream, a dream that one day I will have one of the most amazing bodies people have ever seen. I saw the people on the cover of fitness and bodybuilding magazines and pictured myself looking like that. I wanted a body that looked like it was sculpted out of stone. The body of my dreams! After being so self-conscious of my image all those years, it made me want something that was exceptional, not normal. I never was normal, so why start now I figured. I wanted to change my body, and I was willing to work as hard as I possibly could to make it happen. No one ever believed I could do though. How can a fat kid that can’t stop eating have an impressive body? No one believed I could even lose any weight, yet alone have a sculpted 6 pack. This doubt, this “hate” just made me want it even more. I wasn’t just doing this for myself anymore; I was doing to prove everyone wrong. I had faith in myself, that I could achieve anything I put my mind to. I had a dream, and I wasn’t going to let anyone or anything stand in my way! I'm now an aspiring fitness model/bodybuilder, and I want to continue to prove others wrong on the path to all my dreams!
Below are some of my pictures. It is great to be on here and see everyone else's transformations, it is really inspiring as I know exactly what they went through! Keep training hard, eating smart and may all your dreams come true!

Dude that's awesome progress. Care to share your diet and routine?
Drastically lowered my cals until the fat was gone (maybe 1500 a day). Lost the weight in about 4 months, then just steady bulked on 3000 cals a day until october, and I've just finished a mini-cut for the summer, so will be bulking again soon.
I aim for at least 180-200g of protein a day, 50g of fat a day, and just change my carbs around whether im cutting or bulking.
my main Protein sources are- Chicken, Red meat (lean beef mince..hnnnnnng), whey shakes, eggs.
Carbs - Brown rice, pasta, rice milk, juice, bread wraps
fats - red meat, eggs, nuts
My mum always cooks a meal every night which is normally high protein, high carb and high fat so I never have trouble hitting my macros, I just need to control my portion sizes lol.
I basically follow IIFYM, except ive stopped counting calories and just estimate.
I aware you on my meal for when I'm too lazy to cook. Rice milk + flavoured whey protein + a few raw eggs = omg so fckin good if you blend it
As for my routine, lately ive been following a push/pull/legs/rest routine, and Im seeing some good gains.
Just focus on lifting more weight/more reps every time you enter the gym.. EVEN IF YOU'RE CUTTING (it gets impossible, but try to keep your lifts as high as possible) - its all about the power of the mind brah, Ive been gaining strength all throughout my most recent cut. PM me if you want me to go into more detail about anything.
Well I gotta say man, you are one of my biggest inspirations right now. I have the same background sort of Latino we eat big, and crappy genetics. I was always fit, but recently gained alot of weight all at once. Well over the course of four years I gained about 80lbs. I never had a ripped mid section and now I want to get there. You seem so humble to about it, thank you for being considerate and just laying it out there. I feel individuals like me, need inspirations to look at and go 'I can do that.' So whats the biggest food takeaway you go. I think my workouts are pretty good, my diet though I dont know. Sometimes I feel like Im doing great, and sometimes I think Im not eating enough. I recently gave up drinking completely so that should help my overall goals. I run marathons though so I need to take in calories. I dont know its just all so confusing right now. Thanks man overall and good job G-D Bless brother.
Thank you so much brother! I really appreciate your words. I know it can be hard and confusing sometimes but just stick with it. Try out different things and see what works best for you as w are all different. I have eliminated all proccessed foods from my diet, and i have seen amazing results not only on my body but my over all health and performance. Once you get your diet on track you will see amazing results! If you ever need anything please just let me know, I'm always willing to help! Keep working hard and all your dreams will come true! Goal: 65-67 kg then clean bulk

Used to be a former ~330 lb fatty from a small red neck ass town. Totally cultural, I was a fat child, obese by age 7. I was over 300 lbs at age 15. Dad was always in jail and Mom made 15k a year working at walmart, and lived in a trailer on a dirt road in a town of about 300 people.
HS Graduation in 2004:

....
After garnering some life experience in school and breaking up with a whale high school sweetheart, I decided it was time to make some healthy changes and reinvent myself. It happened in steps...I cut my hair a bit. Lost 10-20 lbs. (See bodyspace progress pics for full timeline) I had to build some type of momentum for myself. When I first started losing weight I did it extremely unhealthy with no concept of macronutrients or proper dieting.
(270 lbs in 2006-2007 ish, about 60 lbs lost)

I spent hundreds of hours reading articles and forums on BB.com when I started lurking and eventually joined. My best friend got a personal trainer and really inspired me after seeing him lose about 50 lbs from 250 - 200. I decided I could do this.
I got down to 235 in Feb 2009 after an 8 week fitness challenge at a local gym. I lost about 25 lbs in 8 weeks.
I started to notice my skin on my abs was hanging pretty badly. After trying to find out more I read through a bunch of articles stating that "loose skin was a myth". I believed those articles, thinking I just had to lose more fat.
Though you cant see the skin directly in this below pic, you can see my attempt to get my body fat down as much as possible. This is the skinniest I ever was, about 188 in that picture. I didn't look very good, even though I was actively lifting at this point, I had been cutting for so long losing that 140 lbs. I decided to go on my first real bulk. ~188 - 208 is the difference between this from June, 2010.

You can see from the former fatty pics that I carried most of my weight in my belly. I actually consider myself pretty lucky. My ass, chest, face, and other features all came back quite nicely after losing the weight, but I couldn't shake the loose abdominal skin. This is what it looks like.

I've grown a lot of parts pretty well this past 1.5 years and while I'm not at bodybuilder levels, I'm in pretty decent shape and all of my vitals and blood tests are radically different now when compared to 2005 (had high blood pressure, high triglycerides, terrible cholesterol, terrible blood glucose even at 18-19 years old).
Short collage from spring of 2011:

I'm almost happy with the way I look. I'd like to be a little leaner, but this freakin stomach skin (which still looks like the above pic) is killing me.
So I went and saw this plastic surgeon. His name is Dr. Steven Morris. He is doing the surgery to remove the skin on 12/28/12.
The total cost for me is $5900 out of pocket for the surgeons fee up front. My insurance should cover 90% of the hospital and anesthesia fees, which leaves me with about $500 to cover. Insurance may cover 30-60% of the surgeons fee as well but wont know until its been billed. I'm hoping my final cost when said and done is $4000-$4500.
Words of advice: Never get fat. Wish my parents would have guided me in a direction away from obesity. Took a lot of life experience to completely re-engineer my ethic and way of life. I usually hover between 205-215 now which is a weight I'm pretty happy with, although I may try to cut to 185-190 after the surgery. We'll see.
Any questions? Ask via PM. Will be posting pre-op and post-op pics in this thread when they are done.
...Used to be a former ~330 lb fatty from a small red neck ass town....
Small world lol. I was also ~330ib when I received my HS diploma ( my heaviest). Thankfully I've cut down to about 240ib give or take. But unlike you, im still too unfit to take my shirt off. Infact i've spent the whole summer of 2012 swimming with a shirt on. You know that feels brahh? But anyway You've got some amazing physique now mate, kinda jelly too. Heres a little before and after shot. I'll back though when i drop to about 190.
