I went from 140lbs LBM to 180lbs LBM in 1.5 years. I dont know how.
Puberty would be my guess! Looking solid though bro. And only 20. You'll be huge in a few years.
I’ve been a member of this site (under a different name) for about 3 years.
18 months ago I finally stopped making excuses. Using this site and other people transformations as inspiration I have improved my life.
I can now look in the mirror and not feel sorry for myself, I can now buy better fitting clothes and not be limited to specific shops catering for the type of person I was.
I still have a long way to go and to be frank will never be 100% satisfied. What I can be sure of is that without the help of this site and gym I train at, I would be an even bigger guy.
Thank you.

You are RIPPED! You lost 20lbs in 3 weeks? How many calories were you eating? How much cardio?
I am VERY curious also as to what your diet was like. Please elaborate!!!
This is my progress for a little over 4 months. I didn't get serious with my macros until about the last month. Loving every minute of this journey and still have a long way to go. I started at 274 and am down to 231 currently. Now to get rid of the alcohol and continue on to a healthier lifestyle!
Very nice!! You looked pregnant in the first pic!
Great Job Everyone
I am VERY curious also as to what your diet was like. Please elaborate!!!
No kidding! Lets get details!
damn nice job. Did you cut first? or straight bulk? Just wondering since I am one year younger... maybe I should use this age to bulk bulk bulk :D
It totally depends on your bodyfat percentage. If you are still at a high bodyfat, i would definitely cut down to 10-13% before starting a bulk. When you are a lower bodyfat you will be able to see the gains you make more clearly, so that will be a huge motivator in the gym. If you bulk when you are already pretty fat (like i did) you may develop gyno, and you wont be able to see if your bulk is working properly or not. Thanks to my dreamer bulk and extremely high estrogen sensitivity, i developed gyno when i got fat. Thank god insurance is paying for the surgery though.
I went on a dirty dirty bulk after the "before" photo was taken and thought i was building a ton of mass because i was gaining weight. Nope. I got fat. I was forced to stop working out in the summer, but i was eating next to nothing and moving around alot at an autoparts store, so i lost 30lbs and dropped to 11%BF. After that i was hit with mono for a few months, so i lost even more weight. I was down to 165. I guess you could call this the ultimate prep for a year long lean bulking period. Since the end of last summer i have been on a strict lean bulking diet with great results.
The most important part of getting big is the diet, no doubt. But the training is where you make it or break it. For example, the transition (noob gains) from the 50lb dumbells to the 80lb dumbells were easy for me on incline bench. I was easily climbing up in weight with minimal effort in the gym. But getting to the 90's and 100's required me to really push myself in there. 110's are even worse. It has gotten to the point where i look at the weights and i dont want to do it, but i force myself to. Moving up in weight is so hard and daunting when compared to before that most people give up when they start plateauing. The most important thing is to give it everything you have, and push yourself through these barriers. Everyone complains about natural potential and plateauing, but im willing to bet most of those guys dont give it 100%. I almost passed out on incline yesterday.

good progress mate
The before was vacation in 2009, 45 years old and 235 lbs. Not much changed until January. At the time I had lost a little weight but was still 223 lbs. Then a bet with some friends prompted me to actually get serious. Currently I'm at 195-ish and working on getting some much needed muscle. I have another bet going now. 10% body fat by October 1, but my wife says I'm not allowed to get skinnier. So that can only mean one thing, more muscle.
He's before (3/1/2013) and current (6/7/2013) pics of me, lost 32 pounds.

Hey, just PM me if you're interested in the details.
I already wrote the whole thing out for someone else from this thread who PM'd me, although I didn't hear anything back lol, a thank you would have been nice at least, but whatever.
Anyway just PM me, I don't want to clutter up this thread.

PM sent. But if you edit your post with your pics in with the stuff you wrote out for that person, you certainly wont be cluttering the thread up - i think most people who read this thread will be interested in what you did to get those results so quickly!

been dieting for 12-13weeks. one more to go and then i will build for a year
Wow...
Just went through almost this whole thread and it really has motivated me to change..
I am 20yo 5'10 290 and I don't want to be just that "funny fat guy" anymore.
I would love to change, but how?
I don't even know the first thing about working out, getting in shape, or dieting...
Where do I start?
What would realistic expectations be?
I have a gym membership already (comes with university tuition)
Do I start running and dieting first? gym later?
Any links to any threads or stickied ones would be a great help..
It IS Time To CHANGE.
Cool!
------------------------->>>>>>>>>>>>
Over that way for begginer workouts... Also for nutrition advice .... Also just post a pic and ask for advice on what to do.....
Go for it.. Good luck

You will have to go to 'Nutrition --> Fat loss section and read the sticky threads on how to diet and work out. In short you have to lift 3-4 days a week and eat a healthy low calorie (below your maintenance) high protein diet for better results. Also, keep in mind that most of us here didn't know anything when we started first..
Top row 215lbs 22% bf. Bottom row 170lbs 12% bodyfat.7 months time. 3 months of Army basic training and 4 months of combat medic training. This is all from Feb-Sep 2009. Maintained 170 for 3 years and started lifting April 2012. Me today is the second pic.
I made a thread chronicling my transformation in depth titled "Neckbearded 4channer to ARMY Strong. Complete Transformation"
Still not fit, but possibly not fat anymore (14 weeks, -34pounds and -6.3" from the waist)

Nice work...
NOW GO FIX THAT BLOODY WALL ALREADY....
Thanks Doughnut and George for the kind words.
DEXA scan this afternoon, then I'll know my actual body fat %. Never been into fitness before, so all this is really new to me, and I'm looking at 50 years old very soon. I can tell you that this exercise stuff hurts an old guy. In order to win my bet in October, I'll be leaning on you guys for cutting advice about 6 weeks out. In the mean time, I'm trying hard to build muscle without gaining any gut. Wish me luck!

But... But... What about all the ads that say I can build 20 pounds of muscle while melting away fat in only 8 weeks? :)
I guess what I should have said was that I'm going to try to build some muscle while gaining MINIMAL gut.
Officially in :-). The 165 was a quick measure (though I'm officially not to measure till I finish my cut this Sat) but I figure not much will change in 3 days.
6 month journey to get from 225 to 165lbs now. Started off with P90 (not X) with a clean diet and after 90 days, added in lots of running and cardio. Went heavy on the lifts this cut (2 weeks ago).
Figure still got about 5 lbs to lose so I'll do one more cut before end summer. But very happy with the outcome. Last time I was at 165lbs was when I got married some 15 years ago.
Yay for EC Stack that helped me greatly.
