Bit bad to tell you from a side shot in a pic mate but the second pic i can give a rough estimate at about 15% bodyfat....

Don't hold me hostage or nuthin... just giving my estimate... if a seemingly slight show of abs was slightly visible i would of put you at 13.5-14% but i cant see in the pic bud....

Great progress man! Keep it up! Check the nutrition section and make sure you are eating right. As long as your diet is on point, then I'd say keep lifting! Definately make sure you are lifting properly to avoid injury and give your back a break until it feels better. If its bad then talk to a doctor before you keep lifting. Good luck bud!

Haha, thanks guy's I appreciate it. This forum is a great help for nutrition and training. I decided that when my backs a bit better I'll go back to Starting Strength and put up a workout log to track my progress. I wish I had reps to give you guy's but I'm a newb here.

I have read many motivational stories here. Great job to everyone on your hard work. I began this journey along with my wife a little over a year ago. After many years of doing "fad" diets, we made the biggest and best investment. We join the gym together and made a commitment to lead a healthier life for ourselves and two daughters. Yesterday someone texted the picture on the left that was about 2 years ago weighing in at over 320 lbs. Yesterday I realized how far we have come on a journey that is far from over. The picture on the right was a few months ago around 278 lbs. We are excited to see what the year has to bring us and happy to have our 10 year old joining us at the gym now. She is in her second week and enjoying it. Keep up the hard work everyone!!!

Couple Pictures here... 104, and 194 was during college about 3-4 years ago when I eclipsed 200 lbs, didn't even realize at the time how badly I let myself go, I was lifting weights 4-5 days a week but i did no cardio, and my diet was atrocious between fried campus food, midnight munchies, and drinking almost on a nightly basis. ... the before are from about a year ago, I was at about 179, lifting and improving my diet. and the after pics are where I was a couple weeks ago and progressing since then, currently at 156 lbs., looking to get to 150 over the next month or two and have abs for the first time since early high school by summer time. Still alot of work to do but at this point it doesn't even feel like work anymore. I work out 5-6 days a week and still working on getting my diet fine tuned some more. Have to say it is crazy to think that I can lift more now at 156 lbs. then I could lift at 200+.

This thread turned into a "slightly chubby into slight built" thread.

added some new pics on the scale of things compared to most of you not massive changes but for me i am very bloody happy so far.

Been following along here. Have read every post, every success story, all the progress. It's been incredibly motivating. Serious props to all.

I'm just starting on my journey, but figured my progress is sizeable enough (so far) to throw my pics up here. My little story: Was a fat kid all through high school (200-210lbs+ @ 5'6"-5'9"). Developed a couple eating disorders after graduation, and got down to around 140lbs in a very unhealthy way, very fast. I managed to keep a lot of the weight off, for about a year, by maintaining terribly unhealthy "eating" habits. Then a breakup happened about 3yrs ago. Gained every single lb back very fast. Spent the last 3 years depressed about my body, and socially challenged because the eating disorders fark with your head (ughh). Anyways, a couple months back, I hit a hard low, weighed over 205lbs, hated everything about my life. A friend simply told me "If you want change, you have to make change. Yourself. Now." and so.. I did.

I threw out all the unhealthy food in my house, and made a promise to myself to start eating only what I cook/prepare myself, from organic natural ingredients. I bought a scale, and started weighing myself daily, to keep a log (it's been a big help, because my head has a convincing way of telling me I'm failing. The scale lets me know I'm keeping on track). I checked into an outpatient eating disorder program, so I get therapy for that. Saw a nutritionist. etc. etc.

Since Jan 8th, I have cheated maybe twice. For the first time in my life, I can say that my weight loss is a result of healthy eating habits. I feel sooo much better, mentally and physically.

Hope my humble little story provides some motivation for someone out there. I've got a ways to go, and I need to start weights now (total NEWB).. but I'm feeling like the healthy/fit body I want is a possibility now, where it never felt like it was before.

I was one BMI point away from being "morbidly obese!" And now I can't find the stupid BMI scale that showed me the various levels of obesity in the obese range.

My diet was your basic calorie deficit, low on carbs but not so low that I was in ketosis. Basically ate IIFYM. Diet included Sunday homemade pizzas, ice cream sandwiches, and after dinner a couple of Hershey chocolate miniatures helped with sweet tooth cravings. Mostly beef, chicken and salmon, vegetables steamed, cottage cheese, protein smoothies, eggs, bacon, cheese and blackberries, strawberries, bananas. No breads, pasta or baked goods. No beer for a year and only had moderate wine or alcohol on 5 occasions. No restaurants for the whole year. I weighed, measured and cooked or prepared all my meals at home. Still have not eaten out any where for 14 months. Money saved is gravy! You can see my diet logs on myfitnesspal I am "pshaughn" over there.

Now that I have lost a great deal of fat, my body, I believe, is wanting to hang on to its remaining fat stores. Why do I say this? Stuff I just learned in my college nutrition class for one. For 2.5 months I have been up and down between 190-195 pounds. I recently added a Sunday carb re-feed day and was able to get down closer to the 190 mark more consistently. The past week I just kicked up my calories to maintenance level and stripped off 3.2 pounds in one week alone.

The additional calories are all coming from increased carb intake and I believe it is certainly helping with my strength levels. I made great gains in strength all year (noobie gains) but they have stalled out right inline with the weight loss plateau. My body is telling me it needs more energy (calorie increase) if I want to start building muscle. I would need to drop down to 181 pounds to be a triple digit weight loss guy but not sure my body will let me go that low? It might let me because I still have 8-12 pounds of body fat that could come off but my priority now is to continue to gain strength/muscle at this point while remaining as lean as possible.

My workouts for a solid 30 weeks or 6 cycles was All Pro's Beginner Routine and that is a sticky in the Workout Forum. Basically, I am still on mostly full body lifts 3 x week, LISS 3 x a week on non lifting days for 40 minutes. Now I also mix in sprints one day a week for 10 minutes plus twice a week I run the 4 exercises of Primal Fitness from Marks Daily Apple. On Primal Fitness I am @ Master Level (Level 4) on the Core and Squats but my upper body on Push ups and Pull ups have been at level two. Push ups are almost ready for level three but pull ups are still lagging behind on level 2. My current focus is on getting my upper body strength to catch up with my lower body and core.

So I used to be really fit, like Chippendale status but then I fell into a deep depression and started boozing and eating my pain away. I went from a super lean 195 to a fat ass 235 and lost all my athletic/gym ability. I found out I was going to be a Dad so I decided I had to change my life for my daughter. I have been going strong eating a clean diet, 2-a-days 5-6 times a week, and cut out 95% of my alcohol intake. The before and after pics that I posted were from Jan. 1 2013 to today March 6, 2013 I have lost 28 pounds of fat and bulked on a few pounds of muscle. I still have my hard days but each day I feel a little bet better about my life, for anyone out there in a bad place right now I know it is hard and sometimes you feel like there is no escape but trust me you can make it through the darkness and there is always light at the end of the tunnel! Be Well, Be happy, Love yourself and each other!!!!!

So I signed up to this site last year after reading this thread and the original, and posted my before pic on my page.

Problem is I was one of those guys who thought they could see results just by working out while still drinking beer every night and eating greasy crap every day. So I worked out on and off for a month or two, saw no changes, and quit for a few months. So even though my before pic isn't technically from one month ago I still looked the same and weighed the same.

Then 1 month ago I decided to get serious and started researching the diet side of bodybuilding to go with the exercise part. I fixed my diet, quit drinking beer (except the occasional drink with friends), and started working out again, this time with proper intensity and consistency.

I've lost 9kgs (20lbs) in the first month and I'm pretty happy with my progress so far. Still a long way to go but it's a start.

I was starting from an unfair 'advantage'. As you might be able to tell from my beer gut I used to drink at least 2 cartons of beer a week, so often I was drinking an entire day's worth of calories in beer on top of the crap food I was eating.

So even without working out I probably could have dropped 10lbs just from quitting beer and not changing anything else.

I don't really count calories, I just eat clean and keep an eye on the scales/mirror.

I also do a form of IF where I fast for 24-36 hours every week or so, and most of my fat loss has come in these fasting periods. I can't recommend it highly enough for anyone who thinks they can handle that long without food, it strips fat off like magic and you still get to eat like normal the rest of the time.

The first couple of times are hard, but it gets easier the more you do it and it teaches you fantastic discipline with food. I'm actually in the 20th hour of a 36 hour fast as we speak.
