Raleigh, NC - BackYard Bistro; the Backyard Binge Challenge.
2 pound beef patty with a pound of shredded BBQ and a pile of cole slaw (welcome to NC), 1 pound of fries, and a gallon of iced tea. The tea overwhelmed me and I fell short by half a pound of fries.
Now I couldn't do it if I tried as even a buffet is just too much for me. My appetite has gone with my age.

Did I read that right? A gallon of ice tea?
Interesting.

That's where they get ya, because you lose out on the hour time limit because you're constantly using the restroom.

That's why you use the bathroom, beforehand. lol
I was planning on doing my first "real" eating challenge soon (from a restaurant, not just something with friends). I notice a lot of the competitive eaters don't drink water when they are doing their challenges and instead opt for a diet drink, kool-aid, or something else. I am sure there is some science behind this instead of just preference when you get to that high of a level. Anyone have the explanation?
I think they opt for a diet drink for a flavor change, as well some like soda that the carbonation can help you burp up some space in your stomach from the air trapped.

Not sure how true that is but seems to work for him.

Check this out:

ost-match meal for Ronda Rousey which reportedly consists of 80 chicken wings. On her Instagram, the UFC champion posted a picture of her feast and the wing-themed sweater she wore.
14 second tap out = 80 chicken wings FTW

^Powered by chicken!
Would have gone for steak personally haha, that is impressive though, both parts.
im planning to do my first food challenge and since I havent eaten a pizza in very very long time im planning to eat the whole pizza hut by myself ...big size thin cheese on the side chicken with extra cheese too...idk how many calories but FK IT!
Come on, that's just a meal, though, surely. I mean, I haven't had pizza in a long time, but when I was younger I'd routinely go out with friends on a Friday night, eating normally throughout the day, and then going for a large pizza in the evening.
But if you actually meant you want to eat a pizza hut by yourself, then kudos to you. Depending on the hut, I don't know where I'd even start with all the wood and stuff.

Can you elaborate on your experience with this challenge?

I ate all of the food but half of the fries and had about 4 glasses of tea. I just kept having to use the restroom, and the caffeine gets me too. Now that we're talking about all of this I'm going to try again on my birthday in about 6 months.

Or, rather, how much tea did you have left? As far as I know, there have been people that have completed the challenge, though, right?

I guess about normal size restaurant glasses, so I got about 80 oz of tea down. Yes some people have completed it and I have not given up hope yet. I still have the appetite of a 17 year old.

Did you just run out of time or did you feel sick to the point of not being able to eat anymore?
By the way, for anyone interested, the challenge is a 2 lb Angus burger topped with one pound of pulled BBQ pork and a heap of slaw, served with a pound of fries and a gallon of sweet tea. So this is what we're talking about (not me nor jdrush in the picture, I assume):

Just got full. But it has been a while since I did it and have lost a substantial amount of weight since then. Which may or may not be good as I have lost the weight by not eating those that often but arguably I don't have fat pushing in on my stomach (may be wishful thinking though).
That guy actually looks like somebody that was recently fired from my work.

1. Helps break down the food a bit better
2. Flavor change from the typical challenge food(s).. sweetness helps counteract the fries/meat
3. Tastier than water, lol

Any good sources for how to maintain weight on a 10-20K "challenge"?
Challenge in quotes because all of these seem incredibly easy to me (not boasting) and I'd really like to see if they are actually as easy as they seem. The problem is I gain fat extremely quickly since I cut for about 8 months straight, and want to maintain the weight I'm at now, so I can only scientifically eat ~2,200 cal a day. when in reality I am hungry for 10 times as much lol.
So anyone know any good links to cardio routines or calorie restrictions etc. to prepare/ post-challenge?

Good luck doing any form of cardiovascular activity after a day of 20k.
Why not just have the day and move on?
-
I'd mostly likely do a challenge on a part of the week where I have 2 consecutive rest days (I train 4 days a week) so I'm talking about cardio before and afterwards that week, not directly afterwards, to avoid as much caloric surplus as possible.
I'd love to just have the high cal day and move on, but the thing is I'm not currently cutting and really do not want to for a while - that means the weight will "stay with me" since I'll rarely if ever be in a deficit.
Now that I've finally reverse dieted up to a 2200 maintainance (I'm actually gaining a bit on this, but I'm too hungry to go lower) so eating anything below 1900 in a day just sounds so bad to me right now after months of 1700.
Point is that any surplus I eat is going to stay with me, a 15k day would be several pounds of fat gained that would stay on me for the next year or so until I want to cut again. Unless - I eat less calories the day before/after/ do extra cardio to make up for it, so the impact isn't as extreme. Does that make sense (hopefully, idk)?

Wrong thread.
Given your post history and what I've seen from you, I'd strongly advise that you quit over thinking it. It really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
-
Ha I still want to eat as much as possible, just avoid as much unused calories as well. I am probably overthinking it, but I know I gain fat fast (somehow gained 4 pounds of fat over the holidays eating 2200~) My metabolism is a wreck, I just know the mental toll cutting takes on me and want to do as little excess as possible, especially for 1 day of eating.
Also my post history isn't as bad as you think, plus Ive learned a lot and become much more lenient. But I see where you're coming from, just looking around for sources/articles on people that stay lean while eating a ton!

To be fair, he posts old videos back to back. But then again when he travels he does challenges 12-16 hours apart (sometimes quicker, lol)

First OFFICIAL Eating "Contest" This weekend!
(Assuming my boss will approve of me taking an hour to ride a few miles from the shop on my lunch break, lol).
Unfortunately, it's hot dogs. But it's tomorrow and it should be fun! 50$ if I win #1. I have no prior experience with hot dogs, and I have 5 minutes to kill as much as I can. So it should be interesting!

^INB4 nonstop jokes involving the phallic nature of the food.
Going to use the 'pro' strategy of bun dunking, and eating the dog separately, or just going at it for fun?
