Matt Stonie ate 182 slices of bacon in 5 minutes in his record attempt at the Daytona International Speedway today.
Breaking the record or 54 Pieces in 5 minutes
NOT BAD

On the bacon theme, Fro Hungry does 20 bacon wrapped Twinkies.

How in dafuq does Matt Stonie stay so thin?
How in dafuq does Matt Stonie stay so thin?
He only does 1 or so videos/challenges a week, seems to be a 'healthy' eater otherwise, probably exercises, and is active.

How many professional eaters go to extremes to compensate for their bouts of eating? Do they fast, purge, etc? It cannot be psychologically healthy for a majority of people.
*Disclaimer: I am not saying pro eaters = eating disorder. Just wonder how many go to extremes to do it.

^ This according to one of his Q&As. I think it was the first one?
^ This according to one of his Q&As. I think it was the first one?
Think so, can't recall off-hand but I think he does a lot of high volume/low cal food the day before like broccoli and stuff to stretch his stomach; that would limit calories too I suppose.

That would mean he'd have to compensate by eating, say, 1000 kcal below his maintenance for the entire week to maintain his weight. I don't know about you, but that is/would be a huge deficit and a terrible state of existence. And I'm not sure whether a lot of high volume and low calorie foods really limit his calories in and of their own. I mean, I eat 4 - 5 lbs of veggies daily, as well, but I still manage to pack in >3000 kcal. So I don't see how that would limit his calories, unless he, of course, wanted it to.

Video is up from Stonie, I am impressed haha.

that would explain alot, but damn I've gone and done some running after some 5-6k days and I typically felt like crap. all of us runners I know are bean-poles, even worse than me.

Could be completely wrong, but I recall him saying that in a Q&A video.
I'd be lucky to manage 10% of what Stonie pulled off... and I would probably never eat bacon by itself again after that.
The coolest part for me (as a huge NASCAR fan) was seeing Richard Petty there. It must've been an awesome feeling to meet him.

I've never before have had "soul food" but this challenge definitely sounds AWESOME! A local restaurant in San Diego called "Island Soul Bistro" is doing their first EVER food challenge, and called me up and made a fully customized food challenge for me! I've been talking with their owner for the past few days and they even made a flyer for it and are doing an event for me. I'm SO excited to take this one on and be the first to down this much food in their restaurant.
Basically the challenge itself consists of...
1. The "BOB" plate. (Called the "Best of Both Worlds).
"Includes Both Styles of Ribs. Beef and Pork. Both White and Dark Meat Chicken"
Also comes with red rice, "mac-n-chz"m greens, chicken kelaguen (wat)? and potato salad.
Estimated to be 5-6lbs (Feeds a family of 4-5)

2. And then the "Red Velvet Chicken and Sliders" plate.
Supposedly around 1-2lbs. I have multiple plates of these.

3. And then the final piece! The "Crunchy Bread Dessert". I honestly have no idea what this is, but it sounded good when she described it to me. lol
In total, this will be my BIGGEST challenge yet @ 10+lbs.
LET'S GO FOR IT!

Love Soul Food but rarely have it, good in small doses.

I don't know man.. If done right, could eat every day! So many good options down in the south: chicken (baked & fried), meat loaf, ox tail, fish, ham, hamburger steak, turkey, pork chops, ribs... not to even mention the sides: collards, peas, cabbage, lima beans, fried okra, potatoes, squash.. AND the best of all MAC & CHEESE!!! This will hands down be the best for his challenge I bet! Can't wait for the video..

FUuauaaaa that food challenge would absolutely destroy me. I just recently did the 3 pound pork shank challenge (which was literally just fat with a little meat) with a 1 pound liver dumpling and all the German sides and I will say that, while the volume isn't as much, the high fat content is killer when it comes to feeling full. The satiety hits way harder. So I would advise (like im the expert here lmao) to eat this as fast as you can before the fat glob makes you wanna throw up all the food haha
Erik, how do you eat and train leading into a contest? Do a lot of biking? Eat low calories but very high volume foods?
I talked to a guy who does professional eating on FaceBook and he says he would pound liters of SF Jello homemade with diet soda to expand his stomach... Maybe you should give this a try?
And for anyone who gives a fuaa... Have you all noticed how Randy (that pro eater dude) has looked way bigger and leaner in his recent vids? Guys is a beast and getting aesthetic. Wonder what he's on
Maybe you should give this a try?
why should Erik give it a try if he is having such success with his last half dozen contests and beating every single one of them
Why fix what ain't broken?
why should Erik give it a try if he is having such success with his last half dozen contests and beating every single one of them

Just giving him a suggestion of a high volume food a pro eater was telling me about that I had not heard of if boiled cabbage was getting old for E man.
I thought the SF Jello mixed with diet coke instead of water was an excellent idea to train for a contest and thought I would share it with Erik in case he had not heard of it before.

Well you can take what about a dozen pro eaters say, and each one of them will be different. Not everyone reacts the same as the next.
Same applies to their diet
Same Applies to their training
same applies to their cardio
same applies to their approach to contests.
I can tell you what Randy would say (off his website)
What Stonie has told me he uses and its different
some of what Joey Chestnut has stated in his articles differs from both of the above
What Furious Pete has posted in some of his Q&A is also different compared to the 3 above.
What "One" always say is not the holy grail. There is always fine tuning that needs to be done
Wait, since when do I eat "boiled cabbage" before challenges?
why should Erik give it a try if he is having such success with his last half dozen contests and beating every single one of them

AMEN to that! Ever since I took on Randy's "pre-game" strategy during my stint of eat feats last year I never stopped using it because it worked perfectly for me. Do not change or try something new just to "see if it works" if what you been doing is on the money. Just like a workout plan, if its working and your getting crazy good results, why change a thing?

This.
Everyone has his/her own method(s). No reason to alter them, unless they aren't working.
Speaking of Randy, he stomps out another Cheesesteak-
Also, this is a joke.. correct?
Was going to mention that but figured it was, no way he is big enough to be 'on' anything, maybe a fat burner if he does IF for some energy; strongly doubt he is on anything 'special'.

Oh he's certainly big enough, it's just weird to see someone ask if he's on gear or not.
Oh he's certainly big enough, it's just weird to see someone ask if he's on gear or not.
When I think about those on gear I think... well pro-BB status or massive, so true point. He is just a bigger guy though, if he isn't natty than he doin' it wrong...
I disagree with this statement 100%
Understandable, again when I think gear user I think the over-jacked type so I am hardly a good judge haha; but we best steer back on-topic, don't want this to go more in-depth and get a thread lock.
Just the fact that it was even brought up, is laughable.

Ya better not get the thread locked. But all gear is not created equal, just remember that. Ronnie Coleman is not drinking the same iced coffee as a guy like Steve Cook.
Randy is a beast though. I think it is hilarious how he gets himself all pumped up with his headphones in haha

Lot of it does seem to be mental.

Here I was thinking it was going to be a walk in the park.. But then saw that it weighed in at
12.5 lbs..
