so train with whatever is giving you problems? so if the burger challenge (the starches killed me) then practise with starches? I was simply following what Randy suggested on his site, as he seems to advocate training with low cal foods (fruits/ veggies and/or liquids) in order to minimise fat gain from over eating

I'm sorry. I mean IF you're going to do a hot dog contest, do some practice with hot dogs.
The starches killed you because they expanded in your stomach and killed your capacity. So just train your capacity. Eat vegetables and drink (I recommend powerade mixers) until your stomach feels like it's going to burst.

yep makes sense thanks!
I think that was why i thought that burger challege would be so easy after doing the steak challenge, i was sadly mistaken haha
-
in order to minimise fat gain from over eating
You're in the wrong "sport", champ.
-
How is that?
I can see the benefit of eating meals similiar to the challenge on occasion, but why wouldnt you choose to use very low cal veggies/ liquids to increase capacity in order to significantly reduce fat gain whilst overeating.
But its basic nutrition cals in vs out. If i eat 3000 cals maintenance, thats 21,000 over the week. I find it very easy to have one day of say 9,000 cals a day/ challenge and then simple sitting at 2000cals of "bodybuilding" food for the other 6 days (with one or two days being these "low cal" capacity days). Thus despite the cheat meal/day im still at maintence by the end of the week.
And by no means am i planning on become a champion eater haha, i think to some degree like anything there is a genetic componeent to it, ie. ability to swallow chug large amounts, or in your case naturally haveing a pretty large capacity to begin with. Im simply having some fun and trying to have a go at the few challenges in my area.
I think probably attempting that burger challenge of 5+lbs in under 20mins wasnt the smartest thing to do for a first ever challenge though haha

Then why are you trying to increase your stomach capacity as you are? You seem to be taking it pretty seriously. Just an FYI: depending on HOW you go about doing it, it can carry negative consequences later on down the road. Be wary.
-
Its a hobby which i wish to do better at.
You train to increase your DL/ squat/ bench max- BUT im sure you realise you will never be an elite powerlifter. You do it because its fun and want to do better at it.
Im looking to get a few free meals and i do enjoy eating large volumes of food in conjuction with training hard.
Not having a dig at you in terms of PL by the way you have done a great job with your lifts, i simply saying you can strive to be better at something you enjoy without wanting to take it seriously/ further.
Now on that note seeing as you are the one with experience here, how would you suggest increasing stomach capacity for an ameteur/ eating enthusiast

Hello guys! My name is Ricardo and I do food challenges as a hobby... Since competitive eating isn't popular Here in Brazil I'm trying new ways to get in touch with people that do them (:
I already follow people like Erik and some other guys, I guess I'll start posting here to keep me up motivated!

One of my friends convinced me to do this challenge again (with her). I say do, not attempt. Because 10,000 calories is easy af over the span of the day. But like let's make the internet think it was hard, okay? Lol... at least the editing in this one is better than any of the other 10k's I've done :D
Nice work! That was my first (and favorite) challenge!
do you remember your time? I blew through the omlette/chili part in under 4 minutes, and potatoes/fruit in like 10 minutes. I'm pretty sure I spent as much time on those damn biscuits as everything else, the size of softballs and dense AF

Don't remember, I've done it three times now.
Last time I did two and had the first one done in ~17 minutes I believe.

^^ pretty fast :D I couldnt imagine doing 2 of them, honestly I have to say I wasnt a fan of those biscuits not because size, or what ever just didnt think they tasted all that great, but having to eat 4 of those no thanks jeff.
time to find another challenge now, been wanting to the BYC for a while but didnt think I was quite ready since its pretty large all in all compared to some of the others in the area.

What was your approach to the biscuits? It seems like dipping/soaking them in the chili would help.
-
What was your approach to the biscuits? It seems like dipping/soaking them in the chili would help.
my approach was to cut them open first thing to 4 pieces each put some butter and jelly on them let them soak in some, since they were so dry/dense. I was thinking the chili thing to but since i ate them last having some sweet from the jelly/syrup would break up so much savory. not to mention the chili wasnt all that liquidy, it was insanely thick

That would make sense actually... plus in terms of flavor, etc, I think ending with sweet would be beneficial as long as they were moist enough. But yeah, after a certain point they'd probably just be too thick to soak through unless you just dunk them in maple syrup or something.

took on another food challenge today
have to admit I did fail this one but so close, 30 minute time limit 20" cheese pizza(downed in 6minutes lol), 6 garlic knots, and a entire loaf of cheesy bread. ended up at the 30 minutes had one garlic knot left and finished at 32.30mins....2.30mins slow...that chewing though

thanks man I appreciate it, usually i'd be totally bummed because I dont take failure very well. but being that close I dont feel completely defeated considering I actually finished everything off.
The owner also told me he's never had anyone just finish it, and continued on that most cant even make it to the garlic knots.

Exactly, you should be happy! Most that don't have challenges down by the time limit through in the towel. Hopefully the owner still comped the meal.
