Cliffs:
- Hypertrophy from benching and leg press didn't start to be seen until weeks 10-20, whereas hypertrophy from curls were shown early in weeks 1-10.
- Likely due to the fact that as a beginner, you spend the early first few weeks, or months, of training learning the mechanics of a complex movement, before you can actually recruit all muscle fibers to cause hypertrophy.
mad props man.
how bad was the pickle?
The pickle was actually the easiest part lol. The five pounds of fries was the hardest part....They were brutal..
^ yeah typically fries are hard, just gotta ball em up and use your liquids!
Call me crazy, but I ended up doing another food challenge after yesterday's challenge at Eagle's Deli. Today, I took on the Misto de Pesce at La Familia Giogio which consists of an assortment of seafood on top of two pounds of pasta. Compared to the challenge from yesterday, this one seemed like child's play lol. It was very delicious though!
How often do you do challenges?
How often do you do challenges?
Usually once a week, but I'm in Boston for the weekend so I decided to just go for it lol. I'm probably going to take it easy for the next couple of weeks though.
Ok, that seafood challenge.... hhhnnnng. Love seafood!

Hmmm, gotcha.
Ok, that seafood challenge.... hhhnnnng. Love seafood!
Yeah, that challenge was really delicious! Unlike the Eagles's challenge, I was able to enjoy the challenge from start to finish lol.

Really like these restaurant challenges btw. Love how your dad gets involved too! Keep em up bruh, I'm a fan.

Same here lol. Not to knock on him or anything, but I wonder what happened to Stonie?
Same here lol. Not to knock on him or anything, but I wonder what happened to Stonie?
what happened? He ate 51 hot dogs.
That is still INSANELY impressive. Most don't really understnad the preparation and effort it takes to compete at that level.
He's still young too. Has another 10 years to get where Joey is or maybe beyond.
I'm even more amazed that joey ate 73 for the qualifiers.
I actually wouldn't mind trying a hot dog contest just to see where I am.
Maybe I'll do one with my wife and dog.

Don't get me wrong, I still think that his numbers are still very impressive. However, 51 is still 11 HDB down from last year. I'm not questioning his dedication or preparation by any means, I just wondered if he was feeling off that day or something.

I'm sure the extremely large amount of pressure he was under probably had something to do with it.

Backyard Bistro challenge.
Edit: Turns out there's a cannoli eating contest. https://twitter.com/ValentinoTruck/status/748607303125970944

I just looked that up on Randy's website....The gallon of sweet tea on top of everything sounds tough lol.

There's a lot that can affect me. Too much cardio hinders me (I find that waking up and going for a walk works best).
He could have mistimed his gallon of water, I mean at that level it's like a major powerlifting meet where even the simplest things can throw you off.

Pro-Tip... Ask for no ice when they bring it out. Found that out the hard way.

Very true...Every little detail counts when it gets to that level.

THE 100 OREO CHALLENGE!

So, I wanted to start my "training" with something typical. Why not do 100 Oreo Cookies? This one was definitely interesting, but I wanted to try out a few different techniques and get back into eating again. I took some time off, so I wanted to see where my speed was/is. Ideally I want to do more speed work in the coming weeks, so let me know how you like the video down below!

^Should try Quaker Granola Bars for speed maybe, or Kings Hawaiian Rolls would be cool too.

Probably the most random thing I've heard all day. LOL
He's like that. lol Have you ever tried the white fudge oreos? Those are pretty good. I'm not and was never a huge fan of Oreos, instead of opting for Chips Ahoy as a kid and part time whale. I hate commercial cookies now, but I'm partial to Milanos stuck in the freezer for a couple hours then eaten/nibbled.
Nope but I will soon!
Probably the most random thing I've heard all day. LOL
I was eating both of those at the time, odd combo for sure.

Good stuff as always! I didn't even realize that there were so many different flavors of the stuff lol.

Aren't you american? haha
Aren't you american? haha
Yeah, but the only grocery store in my hometown only sells the basic flavors. After living in Japan for two years, I was even surprised to see that they released the birthday cake flavor lol.
On a different note, I tried and beat two challenges back-to-back today after a two week "hiatus"...I will share all the details once I get back home!
For my first challenge, I went to the Texas Roadhouse in Chantilly, VA to take on their 64 oz steak. The challenge consisted of a 64 oz steak, two sides, and a basket of rolls. This challenge was really easy and took me about 17 minutes to complete.

Me being the carnivore that I am, I absolutely loved this challenge! For beating this challenge, I got a cool t-shirt and the meal free!
Then about 1-2 hours later, I went down to Woodbridge, VA to take on the Outrageous Split challenge at Campbell's Custards. When I called them on the phone, they told me that the challenge consisted of 4.5 lbs of frozen custard, nine toppings of my choice, three bananas, whipped cream, and three cherries. In order to get the sundae for free, I had to eat all of it in under 30 min. I was a little too confident and ordered a boatload of PB-based toppings that made the total weight of the beast 6.67 lbs! I swallowed the last bite right before the timer went off, so it was a close one. I definitely underestimated the difficulty of this one, but I was very happy with the fact that i was able to beat two challenges back-to-back.
