Maybe it's counterintuitive, but I'm interested in trying a food challenge. I feel like a bottomless pit anyway, so why not try something fun? I'm just not sure what I should attempt first. I'd love to tackle the 10,000 calorie cheat day challenge, but I think I could also succeed in downing something like a Costco-sized pie. Suggestions, anyone? I've got an insatiable sweet tooth, so I'm leaning toward a dessert challenge.

Nothing to take personally, but based on where you are at currently.. I'd give it a few months (maybe even a year or two) before doing something like that. Just my personal stance on it.

Fair enough.

I'm inclined to agree with Erik on that. From what Ive read in your log it sounds like it doesn't take much for the food guilt to set in for you at this point, and doing a challenge - while it may sound like you'd be breaking a habit - would probably do just the opposite: it could become an excuse to chronically undereat for the following days to compensate...

Yeah, I definitely understand the skepticism. It makes sense. I suppose after five years of struggling with this disorder I'm just desperate for any kind of *end-all-be-all* solution and in a convoluted way I've convinced myself that this would be the ultimate form of exposure therapy.
I'll put it off for now. Thank you both for the replies.

I do believe I know what you mean, and I have been there before, even recently to some extent. The problem though is that it's not really possible to do a 'be-all-end-all' when it comes to food, because your body will simply adapt and/or store fat, and bodyfat can always be manipulated by changing the diet again, especially in an extreme way.
But again I do see what you mean.
^ Thanks for being open minded about it. It's hard sometimes to accept others opinions. It just goes to show that you really are making progress! :)

Yeah I am not so much worried about the amount as I am the time.. I feel like getting that much down in under 35 minutes will be the toughest!
Make sure you bring the (diet) PEPSI!
But really though, any type of soda with pizza usually helps it go down quicker. Safe the dough/crust for last.

Well the challenge went very well. It is 3-man, 30" pizza challenge. You must choose 3 toppings. The pizza is cut into 52 square slices and weighs just over 11 pounds. The breakdown is 5 pounds of dough, 2 pounds of sauce, 1 pounds of cheese & 1 pound of each topping. You must sign a waiver and cannot leave the table under any circumstances. You also were not allowed to drop the crust into any water or use any sauces (marinara, ranch, etc.) to help you digest. The pizza must be finished before the current record was exactly 32 minutes. We decided to go with ham, mushrooms and onions as our three toppings. We ended up finishing this bad boy in 28 minutes & 55 seconds and now hold the current record!

No man, I wasn't getting mad about it.. Sorry if I came off mad or offensive that way! I really just wanted some ranch to dip some of my crust in.. The waiver said we could not dip it in water, so I was thinking, "surely they will be fine with us using ranch." But apparently they didn't want you to use anything but the pizza! And thankfully there was not a ton of crust, I was just beginning to hit the food wall when it was time to eat the crust, and I swear I chewed each piece for at least a minute haha

buffet food is some of the nastiest stuff you can eat especially chain restaurants. Some of that food may be held for up to a week on that line and served as long as it temps correctly. Go take a serv safe class. You will be disgusted the amount of fillers they put in buffet food to preserve its life. Most of it comes frozen and imported anyways.
IHOP after about 20-25 leaves a nasty batter taste in the back of your throat. come 30 or so pancakes and you are beating a deadhorse choking them down.

I couldnt agree more with you on this buffets (other than vegas buffets) are generally on the nasty side, I mean seriously go yelp them... both chinese buffets in my city got shut down twice for sanity issues (leaving food out to long, bad temps, cockroaches, etc)
Granted I think chain's are just nasty in general, try to avoid them at all costs and when you mix them with buffet's you are just playing with fire.
most restaurant owners typically know each other, have you ever thought about asking them about challenges, alot might have unpublished challenges

Sanity Issues
Food quality issues
proper food procedures dont bother you?
by all means if you want to eat food that is a week old and held on the same line that is all you.
There is a reason you pay 10$ for a buffet.. Don't expect anything substantial.
most food places are not LAX on food security and standards. if they were they would not be established for very long. If you get critical's during your health inspection you may as well consider changing your staff or management, they are getting bombarded about it daily or weekly if the company cares about proper procedure.
Food quality and saftey is one the most important features of an organization unless you are speaking about burger king or mcdonalds where you get reheated processed frozen food.

If you like unsanitary restaurants.
people spitting in your food, people not washing hands properly when dealing with food, Cross Contamination,
Re-heating expired food, eating food that has been sitting in the same warmer for a week
Improper control of handling and preparing food
by all means enjoy your food that way.

For the food sanitation... you say that like this does not occur in upscale places too; at least I live under no disillusion.

How many times do you dine out at fine dining restaurants? By the looks of your meals eating now next to none. The safety standards from a local fast food chain to a more upscale restaurant are much more strict. If you ever take a serv safe test you would understand this to a great degree on how strict restaurants are on this.
Walk in the back of a McDonalds or Taco Bell and then walk in the back of a fine dining restaurant. I can guarantee you the food handling is night and day difference.
But by all means you can go to Chipolte and have your norovirus and E-Coli and enjoy it too :)

This is their description: "It’s an entire homemade malted pretzel ooey gooey pie(!) covered in a tower of 8 scoops of ice cream, pieces of homemade cookie dough, and The Munchies (our mix-in snack of pretzels, Ritz crackers and M&Ms). We then add on layers of hot fudge, salted butter caramel, whipped cream, chocolate and rainbow sprinkles, and top it with a gummy cow. Available starting Saturday, December 14th. I think I would like to be able to tackle it by mid-December of this year. Around that time I'll be finishing up the semester at school and I think I'll be in a good place both mentally and physically.
Of course if I don't think I'm ready I'll put it off. But I've been making a lot of good progress lately and I really want to be able to do this.
