Negative. I had a friend do it in college and failed miserably.
What challenges in SJ area do you know of? The only one I can think of is the 911 challenge at the formerly known "Cluck U" which is now known as FireEaters.
I'm not big on the food challenge scene (yet) but I wouldn't mind knowing what else is out there.
repped.
Legit thinking of trying my hand at a food challenge. Amato's 24 inch Cheesesteak Sando (4.5 lbs) seems like a reasonable starting point.
Any tips from the pros? Fast the day before? Workout? Etc…whatever advise. I usually have a hearty appetite, but I'm probably a lightweight compared to you guys.

4.5lbs is a good start. If you're nearby in so-cal it would be dope to hit up a challenge with you!

Would definitely be down. No trip to So-Cal planned yet, but the wife and I discussed taking a trip to Disneyland and SoCal before we have another kid. Might be down there in the spring.
Just read the piece on how to prepare your stomach for an eating challenge. Pretty much a lot of fibrous foods, water, and an 18-hour fast prior to the challenge. Maybe even some exercise beforehand.
Erik, do you do something like this?

I'd be game to come up to where you are, if I remember correctly you're in nor-cal, yeah?
Somewhat similar, really just depends on the challenge.
Always have a solid ride beforehand, but the meals/water/etc depends on the challenge.

San Jose. If you're ever in the area just let me know.
OK - good to know. I'm sure it's going to vary a bit from person to person, and obviously I'll get a better feel for what to do as I do more and more challenges. Thanks man.

Decided to take this one on, with a friend of mine Kevin Ross. He does a bunch of crazy eating stunts as well, check out his channel HERE!
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkoFrNsQfGfYDz4L4Llbzkw
I was actually really stoked on how much I got down. Taking into account how much liquid I had, the breadsticks and salad (pasta as well) I weighed it out to be around 14lbs of food. Which is an all time PR for me.
The restaurant "capped" me at 12 bowls, which was honestly baffling. However, our server was awesome and was extremely nice. Look forward to the next challenge!
STAY TUNED!

that 30lb burrito challenge I'd say is probably right up in the top 3
-
guys was looking at some USA food eating challenges and was wondering what you guys personally think is top 3 hardest?
Personally don't know many of them (yea I know, I could look). But I believe that it would come down to the individual. For example I would assume that many eaters have their preference for foods (some can handle more meat, vs more sugary). Some are speed eaters, some can handle larger quantity of foods, spicy, temperature, liquids etc.
I mean yea a 30lb burrito would be hard, but as hard as that large pizza challenge by yourself? cheese sits heavy (for myself anyways) and would think to to be harder **I am NOT factoring in scaling them to equate weight/times etc*
I am interested in hearing some other opinions though

The 2015 Gringo Bandito Chronic Taco Eating Contest!

And the video is LIVE from the contest yesterday. It was an AWESOME contest and I finally got to meet many competitive eaters that I myself have been a huge fan of for the longest time. Including Takeru Kobayashi, Pat Bertoletti, Naader Reda, etc.
I ended up doing A LOT better than initially planned, I set a personal goal for myself to beat 70 tacos, and I'm proud to say that I surpassed that goal.
First place was $5,000
Second Place was $1,000
Third Place was $500
Fourth Place was $250
Fifth Place was $100
Awesome time with awesome people, can't wait for next year!

Well.. this one was very.. Sweet?
Really wanted to do something special for halloween for all of my subscribers, so I put this one together last minute and surprisingly it actually came out pretty good!
I definitely think the hardest part of it was trying to eat the cookie, after the ice cream was sitting ontop of it for such a long time. Other than that, eating pounds and pounds of something "sweet" after 20+ minutes really starts to get to you. But it was a great challenge nonetheless!
