What do you think the water is going to do?
Keep up the water, but add more fiber to your diet. Liquids are good to help keep things smooth and from drying out, but without the bulk that fiber creates, you can still easily get stopped up. Also, some people struggle with milk based protein causing constipation, but I'd try the fiber first. If you don't want to add fibrous foods, you can get metamucil and just drink that. GL!
take a natural fiber supplement like Balance of Nature Fiber. works for me.
Don't eat McDonalds, don't eat crappy food...when I need to take a dump I pound some fiber and water, walk for 20 minutes and voila, it's splashdown time...

As others have said, you need fiber. Metamucil works, actually tastes decent (orange-tangerine blend) and, weirdly, adds a citrus scent to your crap. Just be aware that it's method of action involves making you retain a bit of water in your gut until you actually evacuate it, and make you sure you chug / drink it VERY quickly after mixing, because it thickens quite quickly. Don't leave it sitting in the glass for 3 minutes. Also be aware Metamucil has some sort of diabetes interactions if memory serves, so maybe check that out if you're diabetic.
Other options would involve eating high fiber greens, salads, or, my personal favorite, broccoli.

Oh yes, definitely follow the directions, glad you mentioned that! Don't try to take it dry, ever, and drink it quickly like he said.
I'm also a broccoli eater. Raw makes a nice crunchy snack and the steam packs in the frozen section are cheap and easy to cook.

Turn your junk/snack foods into crap with at least some fiber in it, too i.e. a bagel instead of ice cream.
Psyllium husks is a basic staple of mine to keep me regular, Id start with several grams a day and work your way up if you feel like you needed. Personally I use capped psyllium, after a while you get tired of drinking the bulk powder version.
