I failed twice at 300 this past Sunday.
On the bright side, at least I'm consistent.
Who the f'k are you again?
The weight classes were the same for the 2010 deadlift comp and 2011 deadlift comp and no one said sh't about them in any thread.
And you're gonna cry now?
This is the O35, not any official powerlifting anything.
STFU.
Maybe there would be more entries if you didn't freak the fck out at every little thing.
I'm in.......if my shoulder heels up o.k. It should. Has before. Was repping 235x5 two weeks ago.......before the flare up.
Anti-inflamitories and broom stick stretches FTW. Taking a full 4 weeks off of pressing, so this will motivate me when I get back to it:)

Well don't sit in the shadows then criticize AFTER THE FACT.
No one likes a Monday morning quarterback.
Are you reading the thread? People are discussing the weight classes. I have a simple suggestion - follow the standards.

Whatever Napoleon.
You specifically replied to ME about the SQUAT competition, not about this one.

Hey db.... for this first run I think we'll just keep it along the same lines as the other comps (seems to be what the general consensus wants right now) but I'm all for re-examining the weight classes come January when the comp. re-starts again. If we get a ton of participants this time around it could be a welcome change.

Great to hear Socket!
Definitely take your time and make sure you come back 100%. You have lots of time. :)

LOL... I know what you mean... still haven't cracked that 300 barrier myself (closest was 295) but I'm hoping that this comp. will give me the K.I.T.A. that I need to get it done!
Okay, I'm in...but don't make fun, my bench sucks for someone my size...

Nah, leave 'em in.! :)
question ...
The deadlift and squat comps are lb for lb ... just so I understand the rules here , say in the 2nd group 176 - 210 a 180 lb guy benches 300 but then a 210 lb guy benches 300 ... who would win , the lighter guy cause its more weight or is it a tie regardless of bw ?

I would assume that in the event of a tie the lighter lifter would win.
This is why I was going with more weight classes initially... to try an eliminate those 30lb gaps in the same weight class.... I guess we'll see how it goes though and change things up come Jan. if need be.

Pound for pound works really well IMHO.
Pound for pound works really well IMHO.
If that's how it works in the other comps then we'll keep it in line with that then.

Just to be clear then its gonna follow the same lb for lb rules as the other comps ?
Will the original post be edited to show this ?

I looked at the Squat comp and didn't see anything in the first post so I don't know how that one works... but yeah, I'd think that we'd be looking at lb for lb within each weight class.

Why don't you just come out and say "Are the rules going to be set up so I win?"
If it was my contest i would say "no" just to watch you cry like a little girl for a month straight . ;)
PS for someone on gear that has gyno you really aren't all that strong...and you're puny
PPS...in an ACTUAL meet, LB for LB means nothing. whoever wins the weight class, wins....there are no "pound for pound" consolation prizes handed out for the little guys. This is just something you ram down these people's throats (and they let you LOLOL)...so you can be the "winner" hahahahahahahaaaaa

Just like all the other comps if I can get health I am in. Doubt I can hang with OS or Matt. I am only using dumbells right now and sticking to weights I can hit at least 8 with. I have tossed up 350+ before but I was pretty fat then and like 215lbs. At this weight probably wont get much more than 315.

As far as I can see here Steve and Wayne are ironing out exactly what the rules are there is no need to come in a comp thread and start with the hate. Lets keep this on the up and up. Smack talk is one thing, this is not!!!!
BTW I am going to stickie this thread as well.

I R confused on the lb for lb thing too.
The way I ran my squat comp was whoever got the best lift in his/her weight class won.
Plain and simple.

"ironing out" ??
as usual, whenever there is a contest...Steve comes in and pushes for "LB for LB" so he can win, or do very well.
I'm not saying he isn't strong for his size, he is....but it's obvious what his intentions are....to me, anyway
as far as the "hate"....he's the most obnoxious person here, surely he can handle a couple of shots himself , i would think

You have the option of not participating.
The comp threads are off limits on hate and flaming. Like I said smack talk all you want. we are not going to chit all over the Squat/DL/Bench Comp Threads. People make significant gains in here and work hard.
