No pain, just a pretty loud clicking sound. I tried with no bar and put my hand on my knee, and I can feel it clicking when I get down passed parallel, not loudly though. When I put the weight on it gets louder. Should I be concerned at all or is it normal?
Go to doctor... or some one of that nature. Your knee poping or clicking while squating is not normal. If your lucky it could just be some small thing your body does and its no big deal but its better to find out now before you jack your self up. good luck.
You might have a torn medial meniscus (cartilage in your knee). Sometimes this happens over time and finally comes to a head with a squat, or anything involving your upper leg getting south of parallel to the floor.
Do you have trouble straightening it?
Is it a kind of click that you can't really feel but the same kind of sound like when you click your fingers?
I'm 18 and I used to have it slightly. I don't think it is permanent because mine went away after a few days of squating. If you jumped straight into weight lifting without using your knees very much prior then I think it kust needs some getting used to.
I had a similar problem along time ago when I first tired squats for the first time but quickly quit because the click made me nervous... I really have no idea what it was it felt and sounded like cracking your knuckle in your knee(but just less pressure... it was such a small sensation)
All I know is that I can do squats now w/o that noise in my knee...
I had the click too, seemed to go away after a week or so of ATG squatting. Sometimes I'll have it on my warmup set up squats with just the bar, but by the time I finish that set it'll be gone.

I have the same thing as well, and i'm sure its related to the same "cracking your knuckles" phenomenon.

My knee clicks when I squat, I have a very loose scapula, it's fine, doesn't effect my squatting.

My legs are fine, it's just the clicking in my one knee that kind of makes me a little worried. I think it might be because I do not warm up a lot before my lower body workouts, and the first lift I do are Squats of course.
yeah, warming up really helps this. For me its like lube in the joints
I have the same problem with or without weight. I had problems with my knees probably around 14 or 15. My doctor believed that I had a disease or disorder that I can't remember the name of for the life of me(its temporary,) but basically it happens when you grow very rapidly in height, basically the cartilage in your knees can't keep up and basically you have bones grinding together and it causes inflammation and some severe pain when exercising, and since I used to skateboard it was big problem.
Anyways enough ranting, I don't get pain or inflammation anymore, its been years, but that popping still remains. Only way to get rid of it is to make sure your doing a very slow controlled negative especially at the bottom. I'm not talking about extremely slow, just slow down a bit, see if that helps.
my sports physio says its nothing to worry about and alot of people have it. my knees have clicked for over ten years and i've never had any sort of knee problems

Best thing to do is speak 2 a physio, I am awaiting surgery for a torn medial meniscus at the mo from playin soccer! Mine clicks all the time so it could have sumfin to do with this. Take glucosamine and rub in some gel it works wonders.
yea glucosamine is good, didnt work for me though. fish oil did the trick loads of it
I just warmed up before I worked out a lot today and I still got it. I found that it happens once I reach parallel. I also noticed it does not click when I go down slowly, thanks to whoever mentioned that. I guess it wouldn't be a bad thing to go down slow and explode up.
Might just be synovial fluid. My knee clicks, but that's because I've injured it (ligmanets, meniscus) before.
