looks like plywood with a super thin sheet of rubber or something
Heh, no, it's all steel, like the IM, but more beefy. 1" tube frame topped with 1/8" steel plate (over a 2x3 backbone). Rest is 2x3 and 2x2 tubing.

First off your work looks absolutely fantastic, I wish I had stumbled upon the forum a bit earlier when I started putting together a home gym a couple years ago. Unfortunately with living in NB all my equipment was purchased new and at a pretty premium price. My wife is heading to Mtl at the end of May for a conference and so I was hoping to pick your brain on a few things if you do not mind. Earlier in the thread you posted up a picture of some specialty bars you had made, I would love a rackable trap bar. Using the Rogue/Sorinex trap bar as an example, is that something within your capabilities? Also, I was maybe hoping to add a box squat at some point as well, if you do not mind me asking how much did you charge for that one you had posted earlier? Thanks a bunch and feel free to private message me if you prefer to discuss any details out of this topic.

Haha fair enough. I wasn't entirely sure.

Insanely jealous. Love the power racks, and all the other gear.

Short (80") 2x2 rack I forgot to post up earlier. This is the last of my 2x2 "westside spacing" uprights. Tooks almost 2 years to get rid of them all (9 racks). People don't want 2x2 anymore. Shame.

Shame is right. I think it's a thing of beauty and would've gladly taken one off your hands. I was just pricing an EFS 2x2 the other day.

It is a shame. That is a nice looking rack. And it looks like it can take any punishment anyone could dish out.

Just to give an idea how much of a pain it is to build something like this, bolt-together with weird angles, this is my setup. It took waaaaay longer to set it up than to weld it. It is dead-on however. A level and true welding table would probably help, but I'm not rich enough.

Time for a stronghand buildpro table. That looks like a pain to get square.

Back to the 3x3 7g rack.
Storage pins. Will be covered in black plastic and have rubber donut at base. Tubing goes through plate and is welded on underside also. The machining is because the powder coat will make it harder to press the plastic tube on. So I took off 0.010" to compensate.

J-hooks. Going to have plastic everywhere. Front, back...

Weight Pins
Mech6, what size metal and plastic tubing did you use for the weight pins? And where do you get the plastic?

Is there a reason for placing the gussets in the finger pinch zone, rather than on the outboard end of the spotter?

Won't handle long dumbbells if I put them on the outside. It's mostly the wrist that passes in the middle. The hand/fingers would be higher up above the gussets. There's plastic missing which would add even more height to the dbell.

Oops, been forgetting to update this. More stuff for the 3x3 7g rack. Taking longer than I want, but been having setbacks (sister almost died during childbirth, custody issues with my daughter, too many women, not enough women... usual). Anyways, everything is at paint or painted, should be going out soon.

Its a great dip stand, I have done a few reps on it, solid even on my 50+ year old lumpy basement floor, now I need my physio therapist to fix my shoulders up enough to add dips into my routine.

Nice. Why did you bolt the bottom instead of welding that in?
Also, since I'm too lazy to read through this whole thread :o what brand are you selling your stuff under?
