I've been struggling with a cold for almost two weeks...kept training hard the first week...gave in this past week. Getting back on the bike today I hope.
I swear that if i didnt stop training i wood be ok.

My bike is so lonely. Checked the tires the other day and they were flat (well not really flat but low on air).
Anyway, I was going to take it out tomorrow for a leisurely ride just to relax, but I'm too physically and mentally exhausted right now. Went to the gym this evening and just went through the motions. I'll rest this weekend and go riding next week.
In other news, was going through Bike Nashbar ads and found a bunch of new cycling apparel i.e. tights, jerseys, gloves, shoes, socks, etc.
Put it on my list but didn't hit purchase yet. I only have a limited holiday budget and I'm not sure if that's how I want to spend it. Gotta think about it a little longer.

Did this religiously for 4 years of my life.
Was still told I looked like a 14 year old teenager. *shrug*

so finally got Zwift going and did an initial FTP test
1. Fukk me that was a hardass workout
2. The wattage on Zwift is "tougher" than the wattage on my Quarq power meter
3. FUKK that was a hardass workout

Any boyos in the philipines? Want to hit up a shop while I'm here. Going to be in Cebu, Palawan and Manila.

20 minute test interval? FTP test is just sickening. Did one a week ago:/

yeah, it was the first time I had done it, so Zwift assumes you have something like a 400 FTP or some ish because it f'ing battered me. The "warmup" phase nearly kilt me.
-
Can confirm that half hour ftp with warmup made me want to be sick.
I can ride at 120watts for half hour no issues. But reading some instructors telling riders to stay at constant 2.5xbw watts for prolonged periods is insane.

400W is super human.
I work my way up to 300W and decrease as the season progresses...my outdoor riding and running causes FTP to become de-trained. Not every ride can be hammering long intervals at sweets spot. Back at 265W at the moment.

283W crew
Almost puked when I did mine lol

bicycling is, for the most part, a small man's sport.
Look at it this way, Lance was 5'9, 165 lbs in his heyday. That was HUGE.
so essentially 75kg. 2.5x75k = 188 watts. Hell, I got that in my Zwift FTP. Of course, I'm not 75kg. :p

I admire competitive cyclists, but I've been riding since I was 10 and have never gone out with competition on my mind. Just the thought that anybody can ride.

When I was actually competitive I weighed 173lbs @ 6'3" age 17-18
Safe to say I will never, ever see that weight again.

Im a whopping 78kilo and can confirm that my final ftp result wattage is a blur. Was too dizzy to remember my score.
Anyone know why the mans head on zwift always has a teardrop next to his eye when i end a ride?

the 5min all out during the "warm up" is a killer if u followed that protocol. most people do 20min but they don't do the WU as they should.
with that being said a good ftp is *overrated; a good 1-5min power is the key for most road racing or strava segment hunters.

That's the protocol alright. I use the Trainerroad one-hour-long "20-minute test" which uses a 5-minute warmup interval (not to be confused with the "8-minute test"). I only do it because FTP is used to normalize my Trainerroad training program.
I'm doing the Sustained Power Build - Medium Volume program.

yes, very good fix. *competitive* bicycling.

how you liking Trainerroad? I've been working on the 12-week FTP improvement program through Zwift. I'd like to go with a structured training program for a change. In the few years I've been riding, I literally just get on my bike and ride. My improvements cyclocross and MTB XC have been minimal. Granted, I've totally enjoyed myself along the way, but I'd like to see some better fitness gains.

Got a solid week of riding in, feels good, might not sell the TCR after all. Odd how medication helps bring the drive to ride back!

What's up boys? Long time no post.
I finally stepped up my game and bought a stages power meter for myself for christmas. Now if only the bottom bracket tool I need to install it would arrive I can get this thing installed.
