Keep in mind you're going to need to rent a log splitter once those trees are down so you can split the pieces into actual firewood.

You're in for a couple long days of splitting
White grout will look better IMO
I would tile all around the window
This agree on both parts
I'm going to be the only guy who says no to white grout. I think you can even go darker with the grey than you are thinking.

Nah, I'm with you.
The white's going to be grey eventually anyway.

go with something light and bring out the nice brick of your house. Then mow and fertilize (weed and feed) that lawn, trim that big tree on the left. Then make a nice black bark planter bed with some nice colored flowers up against that brick and take out those green bushes. Too much green. Green only looks good next to neutral colors IMO

So the around the top voters won. I just didn't think the area was big enough to paint it, and there are really no walls that would be in the same plane to help accent the paint around the window. It's getting white grout tonight, I know it'll get dirty, but I want to minimize the distraction of the back splash and let the cabinets be the focus when you look into the kitchen.

Looks good brah. I don't have any real issues with my backsplash (same as yours) getting dirty.
Almost started a tile project this weekend. Almost. This new baby is really putting a damper on my to-do list. I did strap him to my chest, put on some ear muffs and took him around on the lawn mower this weekend to grind up some composted leaves I had been storing all winter.
It's also about that time to go find some more hay bales to start another hay bale garden. If you haven't done one yet, I highly recommend.
Hey guys, anyone ever repaired a washer? Mine just went out. It clicks on and sounds like it's working, but it doesn't actually spin. It was a cheap refurbished $150 Cragslist special that has surprisingly lasted me over 5 years at this point. Is it even worth it trying to find out what's wrong and fix it, or just replace it at this point?
edit: it's a top loader.
double edit: also has a burning smell. I'm guessing that it's probably a belt drive and maybe the motor is still kicking on but the belt isn't tight enough or something?
This might sound stupid but i didnt think you brahs got top loaders over there, thought it was an australian thing.

Front loaders are becoming the more popular choice, but top loaders used to be the norm, and I think still are for cheaper units. I think front loaders were only starting to get really popular around the time I bought my current washer around 5 years ago.
That feel when the city you grew up in has priced your generation out of the housing market and you will never own a home.
brb have to move and leave everything I ever known

It's rarely ever worth fixing a washer, unless you paid a grand for it last year. If you can troubleshoot it and replace a 5 dollar belt, go for it, but if you're not sure what you're doing or have the nards to tear into something knowing nothing about it with the intention of fixing whatever you find, then yes, Craigslist is your best option.

Hooking up the water lines is about the furthest I've gone with a washer, so I really don't know much about them or what the hell I'd be doing, but my best guess is that it's a belt. If it's more complicated than it's worth then I may just see if I can trade it for free shipping/installation on another $150 special from one of those CL repair shops.
My drum on my front loader stopped spinning and I replaced the belt and the wheel the belt attaches to. 50 bucks and took like 20 minutes.
Go here
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/
Put in your model number and search for the belt. It should have a parts diagram that shows you where it is at. They will also probably have a installation video.
Also search on youtube for your washer and how to replace the belt. There will be a video for it. I've had really good luck replacing fridge and washer parts based on youtube repair videos.

Btw if any miscer can level floor like me. No one I guess?

Pull the back panel off and see if the belt broke (common). If so, replace belt and move on...
How much lighter can I expect grout to get as it dries? I tiled my laundry room this weekend and the grout is quite a bit darker than the sticker on the bag. Not a big deal other than I finished a small area leading into another bedroom that I had tiled previously and the grout colors aren't matching up well.

Not much man..
I think that grout looks fine that dark it will hide dirt better too

I don't mind it, it's just that this is the color in the bathroom/bar area

I swear I grabbed the same color. It's also much darker than the sticker on the bag of grout. Oh well, enough grime and goop on the floors over time and they'll probably both end up being the same color.

I'd be more concerned with the corners of the trim than the grout, but I see what you mean. You can buy a grouting tool that will sand down the grout carefully, then just replace it with the color you want. No big deal.
Fix the trim tho.

The trim got a little buggered up because I put that in last year and I really didn't want to tear it out to replace the flooring. Nothing a little paint and caulk won't fix. But that's women's work. I only do labor that involves power tools.

1. I've always found that grout lightens significantly after it dries.
2. If you don't mix your grout with the same ratio of grout/water every time, you could run in to some issues with color variance. Although I find it hard to believe the difference would be what you've shown with your pics.
