Forum Improvement...
What do YOU want to see more of in the Forums? Less?
As most of you who frequent the forums may have noticed, the activity has been declining over the past year. Im trying to figure out ways to assist Bodybuilding.Com, and subsequently, all of the users...YOU, in making the forums great again!!

I know some of you use other platforms as well, what are you seeing there you'd like to see here?
Whats your biggest reason for not coming to the forums here as much?
What are some things you'd like to see improved?
What are things you'd like to see less of?
Personally, my biggest (and really only issue) is the platform technology they use (its not exactly the easiest to navigate, post, etc...especially on mobile devices).
Sooo...lets hear it people!! Together, we CAN make the forums GREAT again!!!

I see many members pushing new people out for asking a newb question. This forum is for education and product sales, not making someone new to supplements feel dumb or ignorant. I'd like to see less of pushing new users out and more educational posts.
We were all new once, some have forgotten that.
-
Another thing is maybe make the sticky notes and pinned threads a little more prominent or even have a FAQ Dropbox menu so people can access answers to questions that have legit answers and they can avoid being flogged for asking a serious question....and the “brah” culture can STFU finally.....
Kinda like the way Verizon works the tech support menu.....”what can I help you with?” Drop list.... “...okay what would you like to learn more about?”Drop sub-list.....etc etc etc
-
More threads about ingredients used in supplements even if they are just based on experience. There enough threads about flavor.
-
I'm not sure if it is possible with a forum, but it would be nice to have a pop-up box for the FAQ.

Id love to see this myself as I am always learning...not only what products do...but why. Great suggestion!

YES!! Simply a section called FAQ, then list most common questions (IE creatine)

Having some respected members who were banned back would be nice. Especially those who were knowledgeable in science. Granted I don't know if they would come back.
-
Forums are antiquated platforms that will keep fading out, this section is pretty much dead.
fix the search function
These are the 2 I was going to say.

Mobile posting is very difficult. I’d assume activity would increase if you could post from your phone with ease
-
migrate this forum to a ******** group

Prune the stickies. Nobody wants to read the first post(s) of a sticky thread that's 4, 5, 6 years old, or dig through a dozen+ pages to see what's current. Stickies I read when I go to a new forum: 1 or 2 pages max, started the last couple years. If it's old but still good, just prune down all the bloat or hell copy/paste it to a new thread and stick that.
Make mobile not suck. So much is done mobile now, if the interface is aids while mobile, you're in trouble.
Fix ability to embed images and have them show up, every time. If you can't host/show a pic or meme in 2018, forget about it.
FIX SEARCH. I can literally search a thread for an exact word I know was used and get 0 results. Forget searching a section or the whole forum, that has NEVER worked properly. Delete it entirely if it's going to remain in the current state, it's just a source of frustration and wasted time.
Consistent rules that are easy to find, consistent modding.

This and what dadbunk said.
Create a mobile platform. Reddit-style mobile platform would be an easy (ish) style for BBcom forums.

I too believe forums in general have seen their best days. I don't know if there is anything that can change that or can be done to improve the activity here?
However, I seem to get the quickest and most replies in the Supplement section. Even if it is a bit off topic. I guess that's because the reps are always on duty. I do hope this forum survives.

There is a couple of good features on another forum that I saw.
1-I don’t know if it is just a glitch most of the time because once it didn’t work but when you used the multiquote function, after you posted it would automatically shut off the quotes you clicked on so that you don’t have to go back and manually disengage them.
2-Whenever someone responds to your quote it notifies you so you don’t have to go back and see where you posted if it is of any further interest.
-
Great thread Ray! I do agree with fixing the mobile sites. Often, I get a bunch of pop ups on my phone :( and certain features are limited on mobile.

YES
On some other forums there is a Notifications section.
A notifications section, with a little number icon telling you how many you have, you hover mouse over it or click on it mobile, and it drops down and shows you. A lot like, say, FB. One you can set for things like a mention (somebody types your exact user name or @yourusername), or somebody quotes your post, or whatever
The User Control Panel is great for monitoring threads you subscribe to or post in but if there are 10 new pages, it would be really nice to just be able to jump to where you were quoted

Forums are dying. Social media and fast response platforms like reddit are the future. I love this site and have been here since 2005, but there is no denying the current trend. It simply can't compete. You can also multiply that with the fact bodybuilding.com is not offering the deals of old or the shipping. It used to be basically 2 day shipping or virtually next day. Now it is a week shipping. Plus bodybuilding has gone corporate and is now charging for routines that can be found in a routine google search. Look at company reps, 10 years ago every company was on here. Now, more leave everyday. There isn't a simple fix. Its like blockbuster trying to fix their business model when its already too late.
Prune the stickies.
I vote for making the stickies more noticeable (i.e, bright fonts.. or have them dazzle :D )
Perhaps..
Get BBcom to advocate the forum via Fb & Insta with something like
"Kaged Muscle is on BOGO, feel free to ask what flavor or product is sought after and the forum community & KM's affiliates themselves will take care of you"

This would be great. I think this is an excellent feature on other forums, and would come in handy especially in the Supplement forum (Product Reviews and Company Promotion specifically).
Also.. we need more Muscletech reps. :D

This isn’t happening anymore as it used to...there are less reps on the boards now
-
A forum app would go a long way to making the forums more accessible.
-
We just need more BCAA threads
-
-mobile app
-better search function (we've been saying this for years but....)
-
Less reps who mindlessly schill products to meet a quota
Less arguing in threads that leads to a thread being completely derailed
Better search function would be great
The mobile version of the forums needs a ton of work
Regular users need to stop chasing away new posters and actually providing helpful information
Less reps who mindlessly schill products to meet a quota..... dont think any exists anymore
