I would think at least as much. Powerlifters rely greatly on the explosiveness and quickness of their CNS, which gets greatly reduced by any depressant.
So if you got drunk once a week but didnt work out the day after, would you still see gains?
dude, if you want to drink a beer, and get drunk from time to time, do it. live man !
just don't become a alcoholic ;)
it's not really a that big deal. i've heard stories about powerlifters getting stone drunk after a meet
Well yeah, all in moderation and as far away from your next meet as possible.
Hell they say two beers a day is all right for ya. Helps prevent heart disease.
Y'know I was just thinking about starting a thread like this. Prepare to lose all respect for Ant:
Last Thursday: Went to Raiders game. Pounded 6-pac in parking lot. Got drunk.
Friday: Went to BBQ, had 7-8 beers. Went to bar afterwards, had another few. Got drunk.
Sat: Went to Cal game, had BBQ after, had 7-8 beers. Went to bar afterwards, had another few. Got drunk.
Sun: Recovered.
Mon: Went to gf's parents. Went on hike. Got drunk w/ gf's dad. Played volleyball in pool with gf's 16-yr old brother's 2 ******** hottie friends.
Tues: Went to 4 star restaurant, drank 4 bottles of wine. Got drunk.
Wed-Thurs: Recovered.
Tonight: Planning on going to BBQ, calling AA. :D
LOL, my gf just turned 21, that's why so much boozing... I know it's stupid and I gotta cut it out from now on...

No that's the last one I REMEMBER. :D
Oh yeah - bfore u go to bed try to drink one glass of water for every drink you've had. hangovers are mostly due to dehydration.

so it wont slow down yer gains in strenght?
I guess it won't if you limit how much you have. But then again i've never drank and never will probably.

thx, de-tox figuratively. As in no more drinking for a while. :)
I don't know if Alcohol is as bad as some people would tell you. I know a lot of great lifters that will still drink. I know a couple guys back in the day that would drink during competitions, and their #'s are still up there. So just do it in moderation ;).

Didn't anyone tell that drinking and operating heavy machinery, err... lifting heavy... is dangerous?! lol That's a bad highlight reel waiting to happen :D
LOL!!!!! :D
I get drunk about once a month on 10-15 tequilas....
Everyone should know drinking is BAD !
Another thing that screws up your lifting is giving blood. Try to lift after that. You can't get a pump no matter what. I learned that out the hard way. Thank goodness you can only give blood every two months or so. I didn't have a good workout for over two days after that.
