Cutting off good friends because they are low iq?

Met these guys while working a job in college. One of them went to be a bus driver and the other works for the school district as a custodian or tradie but gets benefits at least. They are the type of friends that you can call stranded in a road. They been wanting to meet up again for some drinks but I feel like I’ve out grown them. Last year I talk about possibly opening up a business and they said it’s a waste a time and investing in stocks is a scam. I don’t mind hanging out with them but I don’t want their pleb mentality to rub off of me.

Only cut them off if you have the energy to look for/make new friends.

If they are good dudes for hanging out and drinking, pulling bitches, etc., and they haven’t started getting weird with you or acting jealous then keep them. Don’t ever talk about money, your success or ambition, etc. with them and be ready to sever the relationships as soon as they get weird with you or star becoming boring losers.

I would never cut people off simply due to their IQ. That's low grade. There will always be someone smarter. You should have friends way smarter than you that you can look up to and strive to be, and also friends not as smart as you that you can help lift up.

Where I draw the line is mentality and life habits. If they are there to take the air out of your ideas, especially with their low IQ takes (Low IQ but think they know everything is absolutely toxic behavior), then its time to move on. If they are always negative, focused on the wrong things, bad drinking and drug issues, then I would call them out on it, and if they don't like it or man up to it, then keep it moving. They are not family, and you don't have to serve a life sentence for simply picking up a job to supplement college.

No reason to cut off, always remember where you came from. Don’t have to be best buds but it’s ok to check in every once in a while and grab a drink to catch up. Never burn any bridges and be nice to people.

You only cut people off if they are dangerous in some way.

People having different opinions doesn't matter unless they are trying to drag you into dangerous activities.

Meanwhile, they don't have money for stocks and all of that so people tend not to support things they can never ever do, and don't have time or energy to learn. However, if they are dudes that would drop stuff to help you, guess what, they are excellent friends.

Also, if you have a good business idea, they might be good guys to get on board one day since you already know they're loyal.

Sounds like OP is just an *******. I have tons of mates that are career tradies, retail workers, musos, etc. They aren't always the smartest guys overall, but they're also the kind of guys that will have no worries admitting that. They're good at what they do, and they'll always be there for me when I'm in a jam moreso than anyone else.

A persons job shouldn't define them, either. There are people in 'lesser' professions that I know that I consider far more capable intellecutally than I am, despite my degree or job.

Low IQ friends can be some of the chillest and most loyal people.

I dropped one of my low IQ friends because I just outgrew him. He would especially become unbearable to be around whenever he got drunk and act stupid, and I couldn't take that anymore. Simply it comes down to if you don't enjoy hanging out with them, then you don't need to be their friends. Circle yourself with people you actually want to be around

Thinking is hard work and asking tough questions can make you unpopular. So it’s no wonder that even clever people don’t always use their brains
this line is true

You called them "good friends" in your post. Very rarely should anyone cut out legit good friends.
You shouldn't have to see them every week or anything but if they're still good people I'd make somewhat of an effort.

That's what I was talking about before.

People who are always negative are "losers" and will give you depression and anxiety if you hang with them all the time. However, a few disagreements do not mean you stop being friends.
