Yeah well bipolar is a major mental illness so of course you're going to get problems dating someone with that.
Schizo is even more severe so that's worse again.
Also all the personality disorders that are "evil" to some degree or another are probably worse: narcissist, borderline, sociopath, anti-social personality disorder etc.
Would take bipolar over any of the above.
Dad is bi-polar and schizophrenic. Growing up, before he was medicated or while they were trying to get his meds right was not fun.
Even today, when they've got his meds the best they'll get them you never know if you're going to get the depressed or manic version. Sometimes he's cool and great to be around, other times he's a total dbag. He's driven most friends away because of his paranoia (always thinks they're stealing from him) and he's incredibly selfish and self-involved and takes advantageof people at every turn... makes it hard to have a relationship so need to keep my distance for my own sanity. Still talk to him and see him but really moderate it. Often I'll spend too much time with him and he'll start trying to take advantage of my kindness and I have to step away for a month or two.
One of my sisters is similar but also has borderline and severe narcissistic tendencies. Has to be the center of attention at all times or she lashes out, talks sh!t about everyone behind their back (including close family and myself) and always plays victim while being an incessantly toxic and negative person. Legit haven't spoken to her in years after she made up.lies about me and my girl and tried to sue me.
Other sister has depression and anxiety but she's super chill and cool.
You can only be sympathetic and tolerate people like that for only so long. Eventually it becomes toxic to your own life. It's one thing to be depressed or manic or even self involved. But when you start actively being a horrible person to others a line needs to be drawn.
I got lucky and took after my mom (RIP) as she didn't have any serious mental illness.

Serious, every fu*king girl I was in a relationship with (more than 2 years)..... there were so many nights i wished I had a tranquilizer dart gun on hand. Still can be controlled with medication and therapy though. The personality disorders require like a solid decade of consistent psychotherapy for any real improvements to be had and that's only when they're even agreeing that they have issues in the first place.

I don't have a depressive phase I just switch between manic and baseline and when I'm manic it feels like I can communicate with the gods. I feel limitless and can work 24/7 without sleep for days.
