A new report is sounding the alarm about the use of antibiotics in the meat and poultry supply chains of the 25 largest U.S. fast food and “fast casual” restaurants.

Most top U.S. restaurant chains have no publicly available policy to limit regular use of antibiotics in their meat and poultry supply chains, according to the “Chain Reaction” report by Friends of the Earth, the Natural Resources Defense Council and four other consumer interest, public health and environmental organizations.

“When livestock producers administer antibiotics routinely to their flocks and herds, bacteria can develop resistance, thrive and even spread to our communities, contributing to the larger problem of antibiotic resistance,” the authors wrote in the report, which was released Tuesday. “The worsening epidemic of resistance means that antibiotics may not work when we need them most: when our kids contract a staph infection (MRSA), or our parents get a life-threatening pneumonia.”

Chipotle crew all day! Laughing how low some were though, not surprising but still odd how many are that low.

Interesting read bob....seriously not surprised at some of the places that got the "F" grades, after learning basic nutrition its like I've lost any desire to goto those places and the few times the wifey has gotten from those places I end up leaving the room when she eats because it just doesnt seem to even smell like food should smell like.

I don't know anyone in the US that would be surprised by this (unfortunately). Chipotle and In-N-Out are probably the only 2 chain restaurants Ive been to in the last year or so. I love a late night pizza after drinking, but haven't had that delivery craving in a LONG time since I always feel like complete shyte the next morning. Still can't tell if it's the crust or the sauce that tastes like chemicals to me, but it just doesn't hit the spot anymore. A double-double though? Those feels...

In April, Chipotle announced that it was removing all genetically modified ingredients from its menu. But now, a San Francisco law firm has filed a class-action lawsuit against the Mexican fast food chain, alleging the company is still using GMOs.

According to the suit, consumers felt the chain's advertising and marketing campaign (featuring sayings like "G-M-Over It," which honestly deserves a lawsuit brought against it for being terrible) is misleading, as many Chipotle menu items still contain GMOs. The suit claims Chipotle serves meat from animals that are fed GMOs like soy and corn, as well as dairy ingredients (sour cream and cheese) from farms that feed animals GMOs, and that the chain's drinks are made with corn syrup (another GMO).

The attorney filing the suit, Laurence D. King, writes, "Chipotle's advertising in its stores should have accurately informed customers about the source and quality of its ingredients and should not mislead consumers that they are serving food without GMOs when in fact they are."

Can i ask why not? Ive always been surprised that this forum doesn't care about gmos and buying organic. Im curious as to why.

Wasn't expecting anything super healthy from Subway, but still surprised to see the chain get the lowest grade F. I won't be eating there anymore.

And the typical corporate responses from Dunkin’ Donuts and Domino's tell me that these companies don't really care about our health. Yep, only meeting government requirements matters to them.
