Any activity will burn extra calories, the problem is we don't know how much.
I advise you try that for 2 weeks and keep track of your diet + excercise see how much your losing.

Is there something that prevents you from running?
good enough to lower body fat %
Jog outside, enjoy the fresh air.
If your doing it in place.. try mountain climbers. or jumping jacks.
Skipping is a good alternative as well. Gets the heart pumping.

skipping is actually fun as hell, but its just so gay looking hahah. imagine doing that around your block, and having the neighbors see you skipping.
i did 12 min of HiTT on one place sprinting kind of motion. But i replaced that with a 15~25 min morning and evening walk with the dog.
I don't think running in place would burn many calories or be very effective for anything?
I would say just go outside and run, or run in circles?

Of course, any activity outside of your normal lifestyle will aid in lowering body fat%, but that also depends on your diet and how much your consuming to compromise with 10 minutes of jogging in place...
Example:
Just to say you have consume 2000 cal for the day = maintenance
10 min jog = 100 cal --> 2000 - 100 cal = 1900 you made yourself small deficit of 100, which will result in weight loss.
extra meal = 200 cal --> 2000 + 200 (meal) - 100 (jog) = 2100, will result in weight gain.
FYI deficit of 3500 = 1 lb of fat.

You'd get a better full-body session by doing some house cleaning and shower scrubbing.

Haha. Only quitters let something like walls stop them.
Jogging in place can burn a lot of calories if you get your heart rate pumping to 70% of your maximum heart rate. According to ehow you will burn about 500 calories by jogging in place for an hour. Use that to find out how much you would burn in 10 minutes.
