So we signed both Ertz and Celek to extensions. Looks like we're going TE heavy in 2016.
I think Ertz will finally have his breakout season.

So tired of hearing this. It's LJ Smith all over again. Ertz is pretty good AT BEST imo.

Ertz has WAY more upside than LJ Smith ever did. Smith was hardly an average TE.
Ertz has been improving every season he's been in the league and he's pretty much used as a receiver more than a TE. Chip kept him on the sideline because Celek was a better blocker. I'm expecting Ertz to break 1,000 this season
lol I'm not keen to chuck Bradford but if that's the line in the sand his ass is a goner.
The fuk are you an Eagles fan for if you're a Yankees/mets fan and from NY?
We don't want your kind

You know, Chip was actually very successful with a two TE set and he didn't use it nearly as much as he should have. Both are good TE's and should be used more often, particularly when we are in the red zone.
Bradford will not make 10. On the open market, he'll command high teens.
So here are your options: a 3 year deal with Bradford for lets say 50 million, or franchised for 20? Or let him walk if he wants more?
There is a ton of hype right now on Carson Wentz, everyone is saying he's the best QB in the draft. If Lynch, Goff, and Wentz are all evaluated as franchise QBs, I'm not against signing RG3 on a cheap 2 year deal, letting Bradford go, and drafting one of these guys and allocating that money to another free agent tackle or WR like Alshon Jeffery. While I like Bradford and he'd be the best option this upcoming year... He is not some elite QB that isn't replaceable.
We could sign a good guard in FA, flip our tackles, and draft another guard with one of our 3rd and use the rest of our resources towards defense.
what if the Eagles are taking the seahawks and panthers route
using TEs a lot, with a mobile quaterback and a good RB
we just need the mobile fast QB

Looks like we're going back to a 43.

This is definitely good news. Finally a DC who wants to see us being blitz heavy again. We have most of the front seven but need some help in the back. I'm hoping he is a big voice when draftin on defense this upcoming draft.
Halleluja
Still can't say I'm crazy about Pederson, but resigning Curry, Celek, Ertz, and Johnson to long-term deals tells me that the Eagles are learning from their mistakes. I'd rather our core talent gets locked up than to see the front office go on another free agent spending spree. Now we just have to resign Cox.
I'll be sad to see DeMeco Ryans go. He was the heart of our defense for a good few years and played as well as you could've asked him to when he was healthy. But I guess it was inevitable with the logjam at ILB & the switch to 4-3.
Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso traded to Miami for undisclosed draft picks

addition by subtraction
We're cleaning house...I do hope they keep Mathews, but I see that Murray will probably go.
Murray will probably go.
That was fast
Sure hope we draft well ...
This offseason is the opposite of the last. I like building through the draft though. Keep the talent home grown.
wonder what were getting in return for murray

Probably like a 6th, preferably a 5th but veterans don't really bring back much of a return (similar to when we acquired Ryans and Sproles).
The one wild card is that DeMarco supposedly restructured his contract with Tennessee, so maybe we got more back since it wasn't a true salary dump.

I'm pretty sure he's still making the guaranteed amount though. That's all players and agents care about is what's promised.
Not to get anyone's hopes up, but rumors I keep seeing now have us swapping 1sts with Miami while also picking up a 4th. If true that would be an incredible deal.
Another rumor is the Cowboy's weren't wiling to match what Tennessee was offering for Murray, meaning it could be more than just a late round pick. Tomorrow afternoon can't get here soon enough.
Also signed Leodis McKelvin to a pretty cheap contract, solid depth corner who had a good year under Schwartz.

That would be hnng. Especially if he's available at 8:

I don't want to get my hopes up too high, but that would give us a great shot at one of Ramsey, Jack, Stanley, Hargreaves, or Bruckner. Hopefully the Browns and Niners both take QBs.
Ugh.... here's to hoping the Maxwell trade isn't dead.
As of now, #Dolphins consider trade with #Eagles to be dead. Deal had teams swapping spots in 1st round of draft, Eagles moving from 13 to 8
Maybe the Fins are trying to get the Eagles to eat some of that money.

phuuuuuck
c'mon, make it work somehow
doubt itll happen now
doubt itll happen now
Ian Rappaport just said on NFL network that the trade is official. we swap first rd picks with Miami.
thank you Jesus
Damn you guys straight up robbed the Dolphins.
Should I be worried that you guys will try to leap the 49ers to draft Goff if he's still on the board with the Ravens pick?
So correct me if I'm wrong but the deal is...
We Get
- Miami's 1st rounder (8th)
We Give
- Alonso
- Maxwell
- 1st rounder (13th)
Seems like a pretty solid deal for us. This is essentially a 1st for 1st swap which we obviously win. I did like Alonso, I think he had big upside but we have solid LBers on the team. Maxwell was pure sh-t so glad he's gone. And we also get more cap space.
