ah...:D
hey man 2 other easy songs to start off with is:
toxicity - system of a down (the intro is pretty easy)
wake me up when september ends - greenday (also the intro only)
I play those 2 on my electric guitar so the frets will probably be different on an accoustic guitar but yeah enjoy and goodluck
if you need any help add me on msn k

lets learn to alternate pick !
Lessons from

more yngwie lessons
now i found him a cocky bastard back when when i was first learning his stuff - his videos are horrible for a beginner because when he plays the song slow - its never slow enough to learn his stuff. Here focus on getting the articlation down
every note has to sound right - so play as slowly as needed to get ure timing and accuacy down.
then slowly build up speed
with alternate picking the 'v' is an up stroke where the pick comes towards your body a and ' n ' is a downstroke where the pick moves away from your body.
We alternate pick so we can double the our speed to that compared to playing just with downstrokes. Keep your palm close to the bridge and make sure your elbow and wrist are aligned straight and attack the strings at a slight angle, with a motion from your wrist strike the note and on the return strike it again from below the string and repeat.
It will help to anchor your picking hand on the fret board with your ring finger or pinky finger to minimize the distance your hand moves inbetween picking ...
Hope that makes sense
heres the exercises

Just use the program called Guitar Pro
You can download guitar pro tabs etc at 911tabs.com i think
Search google for guitar pro you can use it free but have to pay after the trial if you wanna keep on using it
Consistent practice is key. You can do a long 5-6 hour practice sehs once-twice a week and expect to turn out great. Practice everyday, 10 mins,30 mins, 2 hours, 6 hours, heck doesn't matter, as long as you consistenly practice. Don't make the same mistake as I did:(

do you guys recommend starting on the accoustic or electric guitar, is there really any difference?
do you guys recommend starting on the accoustic or electric guitar, is there really any difference?
Start on acoustic and after a while move up to an electric
Guitar pro is awsome - i'd highly suggest but with the loss of mysongbook.com i was devasted - imagine being able to listen to the timing of your tabs (even tho its midi and the rse - real sound enginer was so ghey and a memore hog that the program made me flip out).
I'd also recomend powertab - which is simpler and there should be a host of power tab files out there. There's no way we can teach you or provide all the tabs out there but specific questions can be answered here.
I noticed a lack of truly beginner lessons here - so i'm going to whip out some 'how to hold a guitar' faqs and 'how to string a guitar' etc lessons and then move onto arppegios, tremolo picking, circular vibrato, two handed tapping, 8 finger tapping and legato next.
hope its been useful so far.
]do you guys recommend starting on the accoustic or electric guitar, is there really any difference?
acoustic would be more economical - as its too big an investment to go straight for an electric. You need extra gear etc etc. With an acoustic you can at least hear what your playing without having to plug it in an amp.
dude i found the entire database backup of mysongbook before it went down, all 1.5 gigs worth of tabs ;)
www.911tabs.com has most of those tabs anyway
If you want guitar pro files, www.ultimate-guitar.com has a huge selection to choose from.
Ok check this out. Enter the key you want to play in and bam there is the scale chart.

I love this place it has alot of info in it. Probably your one stop site.

At 17? Come on, you have alot of time to practice. You act as if you are 80 years old and no longer have a chance to play.
Tell you what, I am 50 I play daily. I played in many bands with alot of pros. I write and record originals. Do you think I could have done it by saying at 17 , don't make the same mistakes I did?
Give me a break and quit with the excuses and just practice. :)
I think these shredders need some sweep picking lessons, followed by legato and tapping. :D
In the Key of C (forgive spelling)
1st - C Ionian
2nd - D Dorian
3rd - E Phrygian
4th - F Lydian
5th - G Mixolydian
6th - A Aeolian
7th - B Locrian
There are also a lot of different places you can play these and in different pitches too. The biggest mistake I did was learn the guitar using tablature. Thankfully I had musical experience beforehand and learned standard notation.
Plus there is a huge difference between being a good guitar player and being a good musician. I would recommend if you want to go anywhere musically in your life that you learn standard notation, learn some theory, etc. Also math and music are related together, eventually if you don't know what that means you will.

Very good adivce, and I'd also recommend purchasing and using a metronome to get timing down. Helps a lot. :D
