I made a thread a month ago asking for home gym tips and I'm about ready to purchase equipment in the next 1-2 weeks but glancing around it seems like a lot of things are still out of stock. Just curious if anyone has any idea when things will generally be available again. Thanks for any thoughts.
You just have to stalk the stuff you want. Keep tabs on manufacturer/retailer websites and sign up for notifications.

Now that the buying madness has subsided a little, I suspect that retailers will gradually restock in the next 4-6 weeks.

I think it’s going to still be a while before you see manufacturers back close to normal. Like mentioned above you really have to look for stuff. I’ve managed to build an entire setup minus 1 piece I want (reverse hyper) in the last 2 months. However I’ve had to look and stay after it to get it.
The notifications are good but with some companies, Rogue especially, the item will come back in stock and the notification is almost on a delay. By the time you see the notification and go to the page it will be sold out again. For example today I looked about 6 or 7 times and on the last one I finally got lucky and Rogue had listed Concept 2 rowers. I had been looking multiple times every day for one for the last month.
I was signed up for notifications but hadn’t received one and I purchased it immediately. After my order was completed I refreshed the page and within about 5 minutes the rowers were no longer in stock. Never even got a notification because they were in stock and then sold out so quickly again. Unfortunately that’s what I’ve had to do in order to get most all of what I’ve managed to get.

I've only seen a few companies post actual estimates. Others only have the "notify me" link, if anything at all. If there's no estimate, it is probably a while. Best you can do is try emailing them.
My instinct is that there was the first wave of folks that were on it who cleared out the inventory in the first and maybe 2nd week of March, at the latest. Those who placed orders in the 4-6 weeks after that are starting to see their orders trickle in, or will be soon.
With gyms starting to open up, maybe new orders will slow a bit, but I think there will still be shortages/delays. I think the gym experience in the post-Rona world will suck donkeyballs, which will lead to a 2nd wave of mass orders.
I have some equipment picked out with companies that are at least listing their expected ship date, but I'm waiting to pull the trigger based on how the next few weeks play out.
Mailing lists are a must, I'd also caution against pre orders, a bar I ordered in April for delivery end of this month got delayed to july with no communication.
Meanwhile bars have come and go on at least 3 sites since I've ordered
I signed up for the notifications with Rogue. Two weeks ago I ordered the power bar and got it 5 days later. Maybe I just got lucky with timing.
I’ve had good luck with the Rogue app and notifications. I order the minute I see an alert on my watch. I’ve got bumpers and a bar that way.
It took three weeks to get the bar but plates came in a few days. I guess it is different warehouses.

Aside from purchasing directly from manufacturers, I'm wondering when the price gouging on sites like Amazon and eBay where you can (could, once upon a time) find stuff for less is going to die down. Something tells me nothing is ever going to be as inexpensive as it was...

I'm not certain the buying madness is over as much as it has slowed down from a lack of supply. The speed at which new equipment is being purchased right now tells me that supply still hasn't caught up with demand yet. And we haven't really started seeing many gym closures yet, I'd assume that would throw the market again into a buying frenzy. I just don't think things will be "normal" again for some time.

Here in the UK most retailers are predicting to have stock available by the end of June.
A lot of smaller UK commercial gyms are already closing or downsizing. Because there are still travel restrictions in some areas the market for commercial equipment is extremely suppressed at the moment.
With quarterly rents due at the end of June, gym owners are desperate for cash, so there are bargains to be found.

As usual I am late to the party as I probably picked the worst time to build a home gym. One question I have is does anybody have any past experience doing business with egymwarehouse? Their site says they have nothing in stock at the top of the page. However, they give you the opportunity to purchase items. It seems confusing. They have pulled off the ability to contact them through their site.
