Taking pills on an "empty stomach"?

If the bottle says to take something 3 times a day on an empty stomach, it pretty much works out to taking it about the same time you eat your main meals - at least that is an easy way to remember. If I take the pills first (on an empty stomach) before I have my meals, how long after can/should I eat so that the pills work as they should on an empty stomach?

generally 30 min, but it depends on what is in the pills and how long that product needs to be digested.

30min/1 hr prior to ur first meal...and 2 hours after each additional meal

first thing in the morning then 2 hours after lunch and dinner...thanks.
