Elbow and shoulders still bugging me. Have GVT for chest and back tomorrow so hopefully they'll be fine by then. If not might have to do legs tomorrow instead... we'll see how things go. Either way, motivation is still through the roof. At this point, that's the most important thing.

You're right dude. I've been slacking :(. During the week a lot of time I'll eat the same set up, so don't want to bore you guys with the same pics over and over. I'll have to start mixing it up ;).
Anyways, I didn't want to make you guys wait until tonight. Here's a tease for later:

Haven't eaten PB in forever. It was one of the foods I'd binge on when I was in anorexia mode. It sounds good again though so I'm gonna throw it into some meals today. Check back for dessert. Might have to dig into that Haagen Dasz I have...
*PS Yes. I like to make the food pron pics as sensual as possible.

Shoulder felt eh, but not as bad as I thought. Probably should have done legs instead today to let the shoulders rest, but wanted to save all my energy for legs tomorrow. I also did seated cable flye and lat pulldown. Wen't light and just pumped it out to not tire out the shoulder. Abs were done as well.
Alright ladies and gentleman. Time for the FOOD PRON.
Fried goodness from Red Robin. Fried zucchini, fried jalapeņos, and french fries. Only had a couple bites. My friend goes "You're trying to gain weight right? Here. Eat this."

Standing Calf Raise
2 plates for 10 sets. Sticking with this yet again.
Notes
Tried the belt out for squats the first time today. OMG IN LOVE WITH IT. Can't wait to use it for testing maxes. Lower back and glutes got pretty tight last night.
Feel a lot better this morning. Me and my roomie decided to try Sheiko out after we're done with GVT. Getting pumped about that.
And of course. Delicious food pron:
Was hungry. Got two sandwiches for lunch at Whole Foods. First one, Classic Italian.

This is going up quickly too.
DB Flyes

These always strain my shoulders :/. Gotta try and tweak the mechanics.

Was actually stoked on these. I thought that after all that other stuff, and using those grips, it'd be way worse. I haven't done pull-ups since I was 150ish. Still able to pump them out like nothing woohoo.
*Also did some stuff for forearms.

Todays workout went awesome. Felt great. Me and my roomie will be starting Sheiko 29 in 3 weeks, so we're excited for that. Eating should be back to normalcy tomorrow. If not, no biggie. Other fun motivational booster. Someone at the gym the other day thought I was 200 lbs (I'm 170). Still stoked ;). Here's just 2 food pics from today. Sorry for the lack guys.

Thanks man!
GVT is going pretty well. I'm feeling okay about it. I'm making strides, but I feel like it's missing a lot. I do like the increased volume, I just miss my true love of lifting heavy. Sheiko should shake things up :).

be careful on your "consistent weight gain"... i consistently gained weight... slowly.. for 8 months.. 1 pizza every weekend, and another good meal during the week. spread 25 lbs over 32 weeks very evenly.. after my cut..(this cut).. same f'n size..
moral of the story.. wish i had only put on 10-15lbs.. i'd be done cutting and at it again

You bring up a very important point. I totally know what you mean. When I was 18 I went on a very aggressive bulk and ate everything in site. Gained weight way to fast. This time is going very well so far. Half of the weight I've gained is my body normalizing after going on a very aggressive cut/eating disorder. I get hydrostatic body fat tests once a month as well. While I don't find them accurate, they are consistent. I'm still 3% under my BF of when I was down to 137. I've got about 10-15 lbs to go, so hopefully it works out in my favor.
Appreciate the warning though. I need to hear it once in a while so I don't let things get out of hand :).

not prob bud..
been doing a little research on the IIFYM... never could i pull it off haha
i enjoy cutting for the most part, i dont like to have to figure out every single day how much is in something and "make it work" i literally eat the same meals every day for 17 weeks now.. simply decreased carbs slightly.. also easy to grocery shop,, brown rice, chicken, brocollie, tilapia, egg whites, grits, fruit.. lol typically one would get tired of this but i'm so hungry (after 17 wks of dieting) that every meal (prepared roughly the same exact way, different seasonings ever wk or so) is delicious. i dont have the willpower to stop at 1 or 2 slices of pizza, simply cannot do it, and never will haha. amazingly delicious foods should be eaten until you are sick, my motto haha
it's hard enough for me to attempt to cook 8 oz of tilapia at night, weigh it out on my scale and it's actually 8.5 or 9. and bag up or throw away the rest.. that my friend is a challenge i have yet to fail, i dont think it would be the same with something dripping with cheese haha

I'm with Tum Tum on this......gaining 2+ lbs a week is not smart at all lol......cutting is gonna be extra suck.
Oh on the previous page u mentioned being only 200 cals over and gaining 1lbs a week. It takes a lot more than 200 surplus calories a day to put on 1lb a week......and since your gaining at least 1.5-2 a week I'de guess U are somewhere about 500-1000 over maintenance daily. Be careful the fat piles on extra fast =)

You guys think I'm fat! Haha jk. I completely agree with both of you. Putting on more than a pound a week is plain pointless. I think the most optimal results are .5 to 1 pound a week. I just make sure I gain a pound a week. So this week I'll want to be in the 169s, next week in the 170s, then 171s, etc. Regarding my eating I usually track 4 to 5 of the days and eat ~3600. What throws my weight all over the place is on the weekends I take it easy and don't track. Those days can average anywhere around 4000-5000 calories. Usually I'll be a few pounds of weight from blushing and then I'll level off. It might not be optimal, but I have fun, and it keeps adhering to a "diet" so much easier for me.
Regarding 200 calories extra, I usually eat at a number of calories until I plateau, then I'll add 200. Even before my "binge" weekends, this still seemed to get me to the next level.
More importantly, I want to thank you guys for contributing. From your feedback, and knowing you guys are keeping a look out, I know to stick to my weekly weigh in guidelines. 15 more weeks and 15 more pounds. If I hit 185 before then, you guys are free to take away all my pizza :). Thanks!
-
This thread seriously makes me want to grow a mustache. I agree though, aim for .5-1lb gain a week. I got up to 210 before I started my first prep back in 09... big mistake. stepped on stage about 10lbs too heavy lulz
-
i was actually thinking about this log during my cardio today, i was going to come in and say what everybody else said. i made a BIG mistake of putting on too much weight too fast before my current prep (which is my first). basically, i packed on a ton of fat and it made the cut more difficult and it's going to be VERY difficult to get my legs cut up before showtime, so i really regret it. slowly gained weight is much, much better, but you live and learn! i will certainly be bulking MUCH differently in the future than i have in the past
-
weekend binges will kill you too.. you can easily put on .5 to 1 pound of pure fat if u start getting slack on friday night and you dont tighten up till breakfast on monday morning.. that's plenty of time for damage.. my inlaw used to tell me (and not saying you are doing this) i eat fine until the weekend so that's good right? i'd reply.. "well if your weekend begins on friday afternoon and lasts for the remainder.. then that's nearly 3 days out of 7 that you are eating ****.. nearly 50%"... (i try to make bad things seem terrible... it get's results ;))

GROW A STACHE. I'm getting kind of lonely on Team Mustache. And glad to have your input here buddy. Other than my post binge bloats, I'm on track for 1 pound a week.

SO AGREE. With 3600 calories on days I track, and then whatever I eat on the "weekend" I end up leveling out at a pound a week. It might be sloppy, but it's working so far.
Again, thanks everyone for the input!

Food porn is AMAZING in this thread! Keep it up! I've been on a "bulk" this whole year. Started at 155lbs @ 14.5% bodyfat and currently at 166-167lbs @ 14-14.5% body fat! 1.5-2lb fat gain and 8-9lb muscle gain :D I pretty much do IIFYM except I don't count LOL I just make sure I get enough protein and my body lets me know if I need more fat or carbs by my cravings :) When contest prep comes around though, def gotta count! Keep up the good work, I hear the echo of 0.5-1lb/week, but I'd even venture to say 0.25-0.75lb/week for legit LBM. Why stack on the fat when it's not needed? But it's definitely hard to say you've gained 0.25lbs/week lol so make sure you look at your monthly weigh-ins and see if it's on track!
and... subbed

Looks like we'll both start sheiko 29 around the same time. Awesome!
