I'm trying to figure out how wide my wheels are. The tire I have on them is 10" wide. Does that mean my wheels are 10" wide as well. I know you measuee the wheel width from the inside of the lip of the wheel but since I have tires on them I cannot so this.
theres probably a stamped on size on the inside of the wheel where it meets the hub. ur wheel is probably less than 10"
They're probably skinnier than 10" if that's how wide your tires are

OP use this calculator to make sure your overall wheel/tire diameter is still the same (or damn near close) to what your OEM specs are, otherwise your speedometer will be incorrect:

Also if you're unsure about this stuff I'd highly advise just calling a local tire shop.
Are they factory wheels? What kind of car?

Tire width won't tell much considering you can put anything from a stretched 235 to a 285 on a 10"
the first number on your tire is the width in mm.
255mm = 10 inch width

Yeah, there are all kinds of possibilities but more likely than not his wheels are 17x7 to 20x8.5
What are the chances this guy has square or stretched fitment and no clue what size his wheels are?

It's around 10" of which nearly any modern pony car has similar factory or performance package width similar to that. 6g mustangs can fit 315 square on and can get the rims from ford performance. They look just like the stock 9 wide rims unless you measure.
I can see the reason for checking.
