Hey I was just wondering if anyone has any good exercises to build really large traps, besides shrugs?
ive had some good results from lateral raises too i can feel some good burn in my traps when follow shrugs with lateral raises
deadlifts rape my traps
Deadlifts and standing presses will target them indirectly. Other than them, I'm not really sure.
Suppose any shoulder exercise to an extent aswell.
You could try doing upright rows. Thoughs will hit your traps and shoulders well.
I feel them during behind the neck military press. You could try those out.
i would recommend behind the neck barbell presses, upright rows superset with lateral raises and end with HEAVY shrugs after each set, hold 45 plate in each hand and shrug it for one hold as long as possible. then end with three continious sets of one armed shrugs(i like to use the smith machine for this one). incorporate theseinto your shoulder workout and theyll feel like theyre about to blow if you go HARD.
upright/ bent over rows~
heavy weights

take a shoulder width grip of the bar when your next doing upright rows, and superset those with heavey ass dumbell shrugs.

NO. Are you retarded? He's telling you that heavy weights makes traps.
shrugs are your best bet... but i must say the day after i do deadlifts my traps are tender as hell!
Shrugs,deads,and farmers walk...
^^ What he said.
Shrugs, deads, and farmers walk.
Go to the heaviest weight u can lift. now go 3 dumbells back pick it up and to 15 shrugs forward, 15 shrugs backwards. This is your first set now go to the next weight do the same thing and continue on. Just run the rack on doing shrugs this will add mass size to your traps bro along with all the other exercises everyone has posted
Oddly enough, the best thing that targets my traps is waiting around in an airport. Usually between ticket line, security, walking around, and waiting for a plane I'll have my heavy duffle bag slung over a shoulder for an hour or 2. I guess the extra downward force makes the traps constantly strained.
Either way, that's like a drawn out Farmer's Walk :)
NO. Are you retarded? He's telling you that heavy weights makes traps.
So you're saying that if I bench heavy I'll have traps?
Besides deadlifting, Just trydifferentvariations of the shrug, like behind the back shrug and DB shrugs.
So you're saying that if I bench heavy I'll have traps?
no, now your just taking what he said way out of context, like *******s normally do. it doesnt really matter what trap exercise you do, theres not many of them anyway. doing shrugs with heavy weight is your best bet for building big traps.
your traps, like your calves and forearms, get worked indirectly every single day by doing normal things, so if you want them to grow in the gym you have to hit them with heavy ass weight because theyre used to all lighter indirect work they get every single day. thats all there is to it
I love how the average weight of those advocating stupid fancy **** is 162. Pull 500 pounds, you'll have traps.
thanks for the suggestions guys! :)
