It takes conscious effort to not be a dopamine fiend in 2021
Between porn, video games, Netflix, smart phones, social media (yes even misc), junk food, weed... it seems like everyone is addicted to at least one of these things, many are addicted to all of them. So many people spend every night half-watching Netflix while they stare at their phone and eat junk food... or they get high and alternate between videogames and porn. I know lots of people who fit those two descriptions... it’s way too common for people to do nothing but satisfy one impulse for pleasure after another.
How many people do you know who can’t sit and pay attention to a movie from start to finish without pulling out their phone? How many people do you know who still read books?
I’ve been seeing advertisements recently for a new phone that’s literally just a phone. No apps or internet browser or any extra stuff. It’s being advertised as a way to escape from advertisements, news, social media etc... I have a feeling stuff like that is gonna take off in the next decade. I think there will be a movement of people, probably just hipsters at first, who want to limit the amount of technology in their lives and try to remember what it was like to have an attention span.
I don’t know what the point of the thread is. Dear diary I guess. Reject technology, return to monke.
