Not directly, no. If it helps you to improve focus, motivation, etc, then that could help significantly, though.
meditating for 10 minutes b4 a workout would help you concentrate. I've been reading a lot lately it helps me relax so my muscles can rest. In the past month I've read over 1000 pages in novels.

reading isnt the same thing as meditating ;)
it isn't but when I read I can space out for a really long time. I actually meditated last night for a few minutes cause I was so stressed, it didn't do much so I got on youporn.
Hello,
meditation is related to mind it will helps to keep your mind cool and peaceful. i think it doesn't help in exercise.but i will try to get some more information about this.
cheers!!
Indirectly only. Relaxation from meditation can help normalize hormone levels which otherwise may be unfavorable for optimal muscular gains.
meditation can be good. it helps you relax and focus. more on the mental benefits though.
There are meditations that can be used to build up your muscles. Meditations in which you do excercises in your mind. You have imagine yourself doing them really well and concentrated.
Try reaching the floor with your hands with straight legs. Then sit down, close your eyes and concentrate. Imagine yourself standing up, stretching and stuff. Then imagine reaching down to your toes. Imagine reaching down further than before.
then get up again, and try reaching down again. how far did you get? if you did it right, further than before!
Otherwise, there are qigong-positions you can do, that'll strengthen and energize your body like nothing else!

Yes meditation will help you with your workout if you do it daily. You can meditate both before and after you workout or afterwards to quiet your mind and re-align your mind and body with each other. I usually meditate after doing yoga or qigong.

I've done meditation almost every day for the past 7 years. It's really been great for health and mental health reasons. I would suggest 20 minutes. I usually do the most simple kind of meditation, which is where you pick 1 thing - a sound, a word, a thought, and repeat it over and over again either verbally or just in your head. When you feel yourself thinking about some other worry or other thought, GENTLY bring your mind back to your sound/word/thought. Especially when you are starting out, you will feel some weird sensations - honestly to me at times it felt like I was on a drug (feeling of falling, getting dizzy, floating, etc.)
I believe there are more and more studies out there talking about how meditation has a lot of benefits, some of which are still unknown. I believe I read that it "resets" the body to a normal state, without all the undue stress we put on them on a daily basis. When people talk about getting sleep and recovery from lifting, I really think that meditation and relaxing the body/muscles is a form of recovery that helps me. It has been proven to allow more blood and oxygen to flow to cells when in a meditative state. I have also used meditation to "fix" various problems that I thought were wrong with my body.
Obviously, I highly recommend it!

Dear hippyman,
Meditation is great for mental health, AND physical! It can also cultivate your chi, which is very useful in everything eg martial arts, yoga, spiritual activities, etc. (Feeling chi is also really cool) Qigong helps with meditation and so that would help build your body and chi. Chi makes your actions stronger, chi is what you need, to Perform your actions. So bottom line is, yes, meditation does help.

Hey, I had forgotten about this post. TM has helped with focus, more than anything. Right now, my main problem is motivation...several months ago, so much started going on in my life, I just lost my edge. Does anyone have any tips on getting my edge back?
