My opinion I do shoulders all by its self right now.. I have gone about a 6 weeks were I did back and shoulders together = for a long day.. me personally Chest is an all day affair mixed in with some core if I still have it in me to do so..
My shoulders are lagging. I do chest and shoulders on the same day. I always either incline or flat bench first and the go to overhead press. Do you think the problem is I do them on the same day?
so op Im not bulking now just doing maintenance as I cut
that being said, I have decent delts but after years of lifting not seeing much growth when I do bulk....
I see huge gains in my back with added volume, do you feel this works for shoulders? Maybe 5-6 sets of compounds mixed with 2-3 of the auxiliaries? rep range 6-12?
or what are you suggest sets/reps? once late summer comes I really want to focus on my shoulders.
shoulders are my favorite body part to train and i agree with everything itt
Shoulders have always been my strongest feature.
Military press
Dumbell shoulder press
Face pulls
done.
That isnt what it says here: http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance/inside_the_muscles_best_chest_and_triceps_exercises
Will try to find you the other article, about the BTN press i have used this movement for years possibly the first shoulder movement I have ever used, and I pretty much feel it there alot of people / studies confirms that aswell but you have the right to disagree.
Who the hell says their back is too big?
should add this pic to the OP btw

your weight is pretty light compared to your height that will be a big element. I don't think doing both in same day is reason aswell.
Why hit traps on shoulder day? Traps are a pulling muscle, not a pushing muscle. (Not calling you out, legitimately curious)
Because I deadlift during back day which hits my traps as well and i like to train them more than once a week
about to go do legs and delts. critique on how my delt workout sounds?
seated BB shoulder press
arnold press
upright rows
lateral raises super set with lying rear delt raises
Looks fine I'd switch Arnold press to regular DB shoulder press or face pull depend on your needs I feel effort you use during the rotation movement of Arnold press is unnecessary you could save it and press heavier weight.
Why hit traps on shoulder day? Traps are a pulling muscle, not a pushing muscle. (Not calling you out, legitimately curious)
You're rear delts are a "pulling muscle" as well. Doesn't matter.
ive dislocated my shoulder before, but ive done the behind the neck shoulder press and i actually feel less stress than I do on regular OHP. you think i should still stick with front rather than behind neck?
Just did behind the neck presses for the first time last week and know this feel.

reps and sets will vary from an individual to another you need to experiment and figure out urself for me I'd do 3-4 sets on compound movements 6~8 reps and 2~3 sets of isolation movements 8~12 reps.

Pretty basic and balanced, love it. And if it is working for u stick it it.
Thanks brah, rear delts of mine def need work.
shoulders, specifically rear delts=key to aesthetics
Will these exercises benefit me, I don't have shoulders at all
Awesome thread OP.
I found this post on SimplyShredded amazing, and the bb'er, Jim Cordova, has some of the best shoulders I've seen!

great read OP. Repped
My only .02 is that people should be very careful when doing upright rows and behind the back press
Pepper your rotator cuff for snap city if these give you pain
looks like im doing it right :D
My shoulders are lacking by far the most, going to start hitting them harder, thanks op!
Will these exercises benefit me, I don't have shoulders at all
No read the beginning of the article carefully a beginner should stick to basic movements a barbel overhead press will do the trick for u. specially during a basic beginner's routine like all pro's

Your 2 cents are 2 million dollars sir, I already mentioned that in each exercise particularly and I couldn't stress it enough if find it uncomfortable to perform any of these moves he should stay away off it.
Totally agree, disproportionately larger shoulders always make a physique look aesthetic.
Thanks for the info OP, have a question for you though. I dun goofd and been doing front db raises for awhile (targets frontal shoulder) and now they are too huge. I realize incline bench / seated db target the frontal as well. What should I do now?
drop the front raises if you already havnt focus on your lateral and rear delts and the time will heal it.
Been doing reverse pec dec/ face pulls and shrugs and target sides / rear more now.
well done.
Aware me the differnce between reverse pec dec and rear delt raises (not lateral raises)? Pec dec has a weird motion haha
All are isolation movements for the rear delts

People tend to do Lateral raises like this and they end up cheated with their lower back

instead, try doing them like this:

A year ago I went too heavy on db shoulder press, my left arm failed and the db rotated my arm backwards. I also was benching way too heavy way too often. I now get snap action in my left rotator and some strain (not pain, but feels unstable) but I cannot exactly identify where (bicep tie in? medial head?)
I have been doing OH pushpress, leaning lateral raises and lots of facepulls
TBH im scared of DB shoulder press but everyone states its one of the best shoulder builders. By the time I kick up the weight and get a few reps my form feels entirely unstable.
insight?
I know guys who just do military presses and side lateral raises and their shoulders are epic.
In for later. Advice on no. of reps and sets that are best for shoulders? majority of people will seem to say higher reps?
some good, some less good advice in here imo.
