also, dont you find it suspicious, that the reddit account of EA that is barely 1 year old, after receiving over 700,000 DOWNVOTES, suddenly appears as having positive karma? hmmmm

looking at their comment history before BF2 release, they never even earned more than 2000 points.. there is no way its legit.
this just in, the game hit a new low, it turns out they have a cooldown on being able to EARN credits when playing arcade mode, it starts at 2-3 hours cooldown and grows to 24 hours if keep playing :

oh and to add insult to injury, they removed the "refund" button from the customer portal

Yup. What people don't get is that by buying this game you are making sure that more and more future games will have features like this.
The only solution is all out boycott.

Fuk is this, a FTP mobile phone game?
Hopefully more good news comes out of the AMA and it isn't just PR bull****. They can't remove the loot crate system at this point. Best they could do is remove limit from arcade, increase credits earned based on performance during the game. I still bought it because I don't plan to spend a cent on boxes and do just fine without having every sidegrade unlocked. Game is just too fun.

That's honestly how they see treating it and millions of people will still buy it and they will still make millions of dollars from micro transactions because people were morons.

Last week Ubisoft announced on it's Q2 financials that earnings from what they call "Player Recurring Investment" (the sale of in-game items, DLC, season passes, and subscriptions) exceeded their profit from digital game sales for the first time.
Loathed as they may be, people still spend loads of cash on this stuff.
I'll just be buying a used version. I still want to play the game because duh it's Star Wars, but fuk EA.
someone cliff me on whats going on...read something like unlocking characters like luke and darth vader takes a lot of games/credits or you can pay real money to unlock them?
Is this one going to allow you to talk chit to other players? Thought that was missing from the first one. May have kept my attention longer than the 3 hours I played it on the day it came out.
someone cliff me on whats going on...read something like unlocking characters like luke and darth vader takes a lot of games/credits or you can pay real money to unlock them?
Summary:
- Game gives you unlocked heroes (Yoda, Kylo ren etc.) Other heroes can be gained by credits which you get from campaign or multiplayer matches.
- Darth Vader costs 60,000 points. Someone does the math and determines it would take 40 hours of multiplayer to get that amount
- Loot crates can give you random battle cards (Upgrades to classes, heroes, ships, emotes etc.) If you get a duplicate then you get credits instead.
- People raged that you either had to play for so long to unlock or buy a ton of crates and hope you got duplicates in order to unlock Darth Vader
- EA PR response becomes most downvoted comment in Reddit history
- EA responds by reducing unlock costs by 75% and will be doing an AMA on Reddit tomorrow
I'm so glad I haven't given EA any of my money since 2010 (Bad Company 2). Garbage.

Where does it state the rewards were reduced? And I also never said it guarantees anything?

i just added to your comments to highlight the issues, should have been more clear.

Ah gotcha.
They said the reason for the campaign change was because the reward is meant to give you the protagonist hero (Iden Versio). He used to cost 20k but now its 5k and thus the change was made. Multiplayer hasn't been reduced which is the main source of credits. I am pretty sure they will announce an increase to it, either flat or performance based.
Lol...this uproar...I ****ing love this game
Doesn’t matter if the entirety of the US boycotts, the rest of the world will still buy this piece of dog chit...they’ll still reap massive profits.
At this point it we should be at the discussion of blocking AAA developers like DICE and Activision from selling their games on the market entirely
I'm not that surprised since thats basically a single player/custom type mode, lucky you get anything at all unlike most games

It's not multiplayer; it's essentially a Bot mode.
Not sure why anyone is surprised (let alone mad) that the credits earned in this mode are capped. I've never cared but people have complained when players could rank up and unlock everything by playing against bots.
In Battlefront (2015), your points from playing Skirmish Mode, Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron against bots, didn't transfer over to multiplayer.

And the irony is that everyone who bought it before you will have tons of unlocks.
40 hours to unlock vader doesnt seem that long? ...I've pu tlike 500 hours into a game and it seems like nothing...
are casuals pissed or something?
idk how that can be such a big deal?

Either way its a lot less now but people are still mad about crates in general.

Why is Vader locked content at all should be the question.
Back in my day you bought a multiplayer game and you got everything up front. Only reason to play a game was to have fun, not grind out unlocks or achievements.

you gotta admit though, that system is out dated and doesnt really work in 2017. It might for us since we are older but a lot of people want more than just, log in and have fun and then leave. Instead they need progress in any way possible.
OBviously its as easy as just increasing in game currency drops so that we can get everything sooner without spending real money. Theres a way to make everyone happy except EA.

a lot of mulitplayer games since cod 4 have been level up/use money to unlock though
but 40 hours for vader is way too long. plus another 40 for luke. and then various hours for the rest of the heroes/villians. and this means you can't use any of your credits for crates to upgrade your character's cards. it just ends up being a grindfest for hours and hours.

I really agree with something Shroud said tonight on his stream when he was playing BF2. He said something along the lines of how yes, EA are scumbags and he doesn't support their choices on the P2W aspect or any of that... HOWEVER, he really enjoys playing the game and will continue playing the game. He said he's not going to let the fact that he doesn't agree with EA ruin the fun he will get out of playing BF2.
Now yes you can say something like "oh Shroud is rich, he can buy endless credits" but even myself I feel his statement rings true, and I'm not spending a dime on loot boxes for this. The game is fun, EA is chit, the end. I don't like big oil companies but I pump my gas at Shell and Chevron just like everyone else.
