Good movie, yes. Movie of the decade, not even close
It felt a little dragged out on some parts and it was so obvious the whole romance between him and chick was in his imagination. Every time he laughed it had me cracking up and when the midget was screaming was one the funniest scenes I've seen this year.
What do you think is the movie of the decade then?

10/10 movie imo. Tired of fast and the furious/avengers bs
Why does everyone think this joker has to be mastermind already like the TDK joker?? The movie is the origin of joker of course he isn't going to be a dam mastermind already lol
Yes.
Why would a criminal mastermind be smart in his early life?
I'm sure we all know tons of people who were absolute morons in their early lives and turned out to be geniuses.
Didn't like it 4/10 for me.
It felt very self-indulgent, constantly asked to sympathize with Arthur, you can see the twist coming, and this Joker had like no charisma. At least, TDK's Joker was funny and had a dark sense of humor to him not to mention capable. Whether JP pulled off an awesome performance or not, this Joker was a bumbling idiot. No fuking way this guy goes toe to toe with Batman at any point in the future. Also, they never walk that fine line of whether you can side with the Joker or not. I don't want to spoil anything and I'm sorry to anyone if I have already, but the Joker in this film never kills anyone that doesn't have it coming in one way or another (except like 1-2 people, but you're not even sure if he did kill those 2).
This film had a lot of potential, but I think they squandered it. It' pretty much just Taxi Driver: Joker Edition, but not as good. Props for them for shooting scenes in my hometown of The Bronx tho.
That is a REAL review.
Not the typical misc dimwit "hUrR dUrR, JoKeR gOoD" that they try to pass off as intelligently formed by using big words.
He was medicated.
After he gets off his meds, he turns into Joker and then.........
I perceived that what I just mentioned was the whole point.
So basically you're playing connect the dots in your imagination to make the movie better than it was?
It sounds more like you're trying to rationalize a movie that even you don't believe is as good as you're trying to claim.

People who want to look deep can't use them to flex on people.

Do you know how cinema even works?
The best rated and the most popular (besides action movies) movies make you think and connect the dots.
I dont think you appreciate films for the art medium that they are.

But when a movie has giant holes in the plot most rational people say the movie isn't that good, rather than make giant assumptive leaps as to why there are such big holes in the plot :o
Do you get it?
It's ridiculous to say "well the Joker wasn't a hardened criminal mastermind cause he was on meds".
You're not just gonna be some idiot your whole life and suddenly flip the switch to genius one day.
It just doesn't happen.
When you connected the dots what made you think that Joker would one day be a super-villain?

Stopped here.
I am confident the whole point at the start was to get u to WANT to empathize with Arthur just to show u how absolutely deranged he is.
Phoenix makes you uncomfortable constantly with this character. Even if u were one of the most nicest overly empathizing people in the world there is no way you couldn’t help sitting next to this guy feeling he is off his rocker and you shouldn’t be alone with him ever.
