L-Arginine for pump?
I really shouldn't even be posting here yet, because I know so little (almost nothing) about contest prep at this stage. But I've just been wondering, if the same pump benefit you get in training from ~5g of Arginine would be helpful in getting a better pump on stage? Or would it adversely affect "the look"? The fine art of presenting the incredible physique in competition is something I haven't delved into yet, but I need to start becoming more familiar. So, here's my first question, ever. :)
Thanks

I actually read that a 5g serving is generally considered to be completely "safe". Almost implying that excessive amino acid supplementing would be... unsafe?? Not sure exactly why that would be (something else I've been meaning to ask when I got around to it), but I stay within the study-recommended dosages, and for Arginine, 5g is the top of the range for a single dose pre-workout serving. Admittedly, I take a little more throughout the course of the day, in much smaller doses, but I figure it's OK, given that I'm not a typical body size. Sort of like how it takes a lot more alcohol for a larger person to have high BA levels.

If you look at a product like Yok3d, its main pump ingredient is arginine nitrate. Also if you look on the label it suggests that 250lbs+ you take 3/4 pills(forget which) unlike the recommended 2 for a lighter user. Leads me to believe you can apply this to arginine alone.
Youd be fine taking more than 5g a day see what you respond to though, you may in fact not need more.

1) arginine has been shown not to increase blood flow, my good friend actually did his PHD on this
2) more than 10g at a time will cause severe gastric distress. Great idea on show day  lol
if you want something that provides a pump get citrulline malate which may actually increase blood flow and betaine which increases plasma volume

Alright, cool. Now let me ask you guys another potentially silly question, which relates to your 2nd point there. Obviously in competition, you want your waistline as small as possible. So in all seriousness, what about taking some anti-gas tablets, to... well, shrink the intestinal volume as much as possible?
That may be the silliest question ever asked, but hey, I get these wild theories that pop into my mind sometimes.
I promise, I'll get a book. Meantime, indulge me. :)
