This week in the O35 II
On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite.
Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9, 115's x 5
*spot saved for progress pic today*
Oh yeah, and there is this guy:

subbed for a cool thread for sure!
As for a pic in the tradition of this thread.... I feel like the young kids posting pics of 'abs' but it is my worst area so I am trying to finally bring my midsection up to par with the rest of me. Been a long 4 months of dieting and still going. (and no direct ab work by the way...just deads, squats, ohp and bent rows...etc)

Wow. Hard to believe the first thread reached its peak in 3 years.
Let's do the same with this thread. It'll be cool to see the posters jacker and stronger 3 years from now.

Working out while working. Winning combo. New PR (340lb). 2 months in a row.
Woooo! Fantastic job! How much longer are you planning to cut?
Thanks man. I never really knew where I was going to stop. I am at the point now where changes are almost noticeable every few days. It takes so much effort to get to the point where you are finally cutting into the stubborn fat deposits. I am at that point and think I am going to stick it out a little longer. Overall, I feel this was well worth it. I have done it all by "feel" and not done any planning or tracking. I also took it slow because holding on to muscle is a top concern.
Cutting over 5 months may seem a little excessive, but I also know that I dont have much progress beyond this point so it is not that I am really missing out on anything. If anything I am forming a new lifestyle that will be required if I want this type of physique.

Glad to see this thread stickied!
ID, I remember when you basically had no visible abs. Then you cut, bulked, cut, etc. And look at you now! That's awesome.
I'm not even close to abs right now. I have not found the wherewithal or deep desire to cut. Having too much fun eating and increasing my strength. So this is where I am now, pic taken yesterday on my 51st birthday, at 172 or 173 pounds.

I'm kinda sad that my arms feel like a lagging body part now. It's been almost 3 years since I did any arm iso work, due to elbow pain. Every few months when there is no pain I throw in an arm workout, and I'm always sorry about it afterwards.

You look amazing, so keep up with the new lifestyle :)
My cut went on for 7 months or so - steady pound a week for 30 lbs. Only brief plateau was when my mother-in-law died. I kept going beyond my original goal because that's when the changes started looking good to me.

Damn Bando, that's like a 4 x BW bench :o
Grats on the 3 plate club, looked solid
I_D making me want to cry into my ice cream as usual
Hit 500 highbar, no belt for a single with a tiny pause today

should really have held it in the hole for another second but I was gun-shy going down as my right knee was a bit tweaky.
only 40lbs off my belt and low-bar-half-way-down-the-back last max

Wow, I am in awe! That was beautiful. I doubt there has ever been a squat like that in my gym :)
No great lifts from me - on the contrary, today's squats crushed my soul - but I have some ab shots I think look cool. Not too bad for 15-ish BF I think.
Inspired by Steffo99's comment on an earlier picture, I call these "Coming in to land on Comet 63T/Hoss" :D

This mornings training. Did some of this and some of that. Then set a front squat triples PR of 125-kg (275-lbs).

Glad it looks like surgery went well! Abs are really overrated for sure....just about anyone can have them and people seem to "ooh and ahh" over them. But I was never willing to sacrifice my progress in other areas just to have them. Being at almost 5 years back training progress is now at the point where it is almost non-existent. I gained more weight in my first 4 months back in the gym then I have in the past 2 years. So...for me there really were no more excuses not to bite the bullet and finally do a nice cut. It has been difficult and I have lost some strength.
Dropped my squats down 2 reps (now repping 495x3 instead of 5). And my deadlift is off 2 reps (585 x 5 instead of 7). Have not been benching heavy due to shoulder issues. All in all I think most would consider that fairly successful for dropping almost 30lbs. I am now a legit 198'er with a mid 1600 total. But I am finding that I am enjoying the break away from heavy training for a while. I have been doing more "bodybuilding" type stuff....which I have never really done since my 20's. Lighter weights, more sets, more exercises. I think I may have actually seen some "newb" gains from this switch as I stayed the same weight for almost 9 weeks while getting leaner. (If someone had told me that I would have said it was impossible too...especially at my stage in the game) And that is at "normal" hormone levels (as some may be wondering).
Maybe a time for me to re-evaluate my direction...but I am going to continue cutting for a little while and then most likly will adopt a more aggressive carb cycling then I do now, with larger carb spikes on training days resulting in a net increase in cals that way.
Look forward to seeing your recovery. You have an AWESOME base underneath. I think you will experience what I did. It was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done...stripping away the fat that had been hiding my physique for so many years. Best of luck!!!

Three parties this weekend. Nothing but beer, pizza & cake. Last week's cut is now shot but it was more than worth it. Back up to my cut starting weight of 198 to start the week and back on the wagon. Water weight should drop off by weeks end.

This is your idea of obese, right? You've worked hard to get to the point where you can look this awesome after a weekend of beer, pizza, and cake! We should all be so lucky. But I know you'll get back to your ridiculously awesome normal self soon enough.

Ha! My life has basically turned into "dieting for the weekend." I hit my macros during the week so I can party somewhat sensibly on the weekends. Back in the day when i didn't care about my body's composition I treated everyday like the weekend.
Circa 2005 Daily Diet:
Breakfast:
Dunkin Donuts Bacon, Egg, Cheese & Butter Everything Bagel
Manager's Special Donut
XL Coffee, Cream, extra Sugar
Lunch:
Fried Buffalo Chicken Sub
XL Curly Fries
LG Mountain Dew
Afternoon Snack:
McD's Bacon Double Cheeseburger
Dinner:
Whatever the wife made
Dessert:
Oreos, Milk, Ice Cream, etc.
And not a single fcuk was given, I'm a completely changed person. I gotta tell you though, that DD breakfast... I lived for that! :D
