Checking in.. Still lifting.. dabbling with Olympic lifts now..
So has ******** Marketplace been terrible for anybody else lately? I'm not sure if they changed their "algorithms" or something, or the market is just over-saturated (probably both), but I don't even get messages anymore if I list equipment where I used to sell within 48 hours. It's crazy. Do I need to try another app?
Are you getting views on your items? I used to check my ads on MP from a browser I wasn't logged in on to make sure they weren't ghosting, but I don't think you can view it without logging in now.
********'s algorithms have been terrible forever, though. I have my search location set to my town, and my ad set to my town, but if I search for my own ad it will sometimes show up as outside of my search area ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still here on occasion. Thinking of replacing lifting with more drinking in the new year. Seems easier

This shirt cracked me up; my kid is a huge fan of the Terminator movies (at least the 1st couple), so I just ordered him this shirt. Thanks for the tip!

No weight gain, no physical pain.
I can't bring myself to participate in ******** groups, and reddit's home gym sub was neutered to the point where it rarely has anything interesting being discussed. Not much other game in town when it comes to gym equipment.
Here I am trying to do the opposite, the pandemic struggle is real! My training has been spotty at best, I'll kill it for a couple weeks and be surprised at how quickly everything comes back to form. Then drop off a cliff for a month LOL. On a brighter note my son has REALLY shown an interest in lifting, he's been hitting it pretty regularly and progressing well. Excited to see what would happen if he sticks with it, he's got the genetic potential and access to a gym I never had growing up.

so apparently Coop blocked me on Instagram.
Only thing I can think of is making fun of him with Donnie Thompson... oops

Sorry to hear that, must feel terrible getting rejected by your idol. Oh well, at least you can still poke fun at the other thousand "Garage Gym" influencers selling t-shirts and gym banners LOL

Hoping my goal of being the only human on this planet comes true in 2022.
Happy New Year everyone.

Question for you all on equipment as I am in the market to purchase a power rack. Probably buying rogue as the $75 ship is pretty good as I need barbell, plates, etc. Not planning to do any olympic lifts currently.
Would you all get a RM3/RM4 with weight tree or a RM6 that includes tbe storage? I have room for either and priced out it seems to be close ish in price.
Don’t mind monster light as I have a matador on a strip now. Other equipment I have is a rogue jammer, USA Power blocks up to 90 lbs and rogue ab 3.0 along with some bands.
Thanks in advance.

Rogue Monster Lite Half rack, but I'm biased with regards to full or half rack. That direction gets you plate storage while being cheaper than RM6, plus all the attachments are cheaper.

Why you prefer the half rack? Thanks for responding

Absolutely, either Half rack or 3/4 open top racks. They are just as safe as long as the spotter arms are a decent length, and it's MUCH easier to swap barbells quickly and you don't have that confined feeling. I'll never go back to a full rack.

So my wife and I had a baby on March 3, 2020 and with that combined with the pandemic, I stopped my 10+ years of regularly going to the gym. It's been almost two years since I last lifted weights and decided I wanted to get some quality equipment for my house. I just bought:
- PowerBlock Sport 70 lb dumbell set
- Rep AB-3000 FID bench
Spent almost $1k on these two things so I'm hoping they serve me well. Thoughts on these items?

That is a good start. A Rep bench and PBs are a good choice. And after 2 years off, a good DB workout can kick your butt. On weekends I do a DB and kettlebell workout at home.
But you need to start thinking about a rack, bar, and a set of weights. :D

Holy crap. I see a lot of the old crew is still around. Along with some new additions. Been a while, just wanted to drop in and say hello. Hope all is well. Happy New Year.

Damn, good to see so many who used to post regularly when I first joined, I hope everyone is doing well,.
Getting older, but still managing 4 days a week in the gym, I've really got my gym sorted, so there's not the same incentive to come here so much, but I still manage to browse the forum most weeks and occasionally get involved when the thread interests me.

I think many of us who were active several years ago are in a similar situation. I am very happy with the way my gym is set up. I still check CL and other places for equipment, but I don't see anything that I don't already have or would want.
I frequent the forum every week or so. I only rarely post.

Same here. After a few years of hanging out with this crew, gym space is tight!
There may be an incremental equipment upgrade or two in the next 12 months. However, we are looking at building a new house on a lot we own. If that project gets off the ground (much harder to do these days!) there will be more to post about as the gym penciled out around 1600 sq ft on the last draft floor plan. Even if we can break ground in 2022, build times are running 15-18 months around here so it will be a while before I need input and feedback on equipment.

Yes, I still browse the market, but to be honest I really would find it difficult to part with any piece in my set up. My current feeling is that any equipment change would merely be a sideways move.
Never mind I also have an interest in HiFi, so I still have an extremely deep hole in which to sink my surplus cash. :)

I'm asking this in here since it's mostly old timers on this forum and serious home gymers. I'm thinking about fully taking over my garage and adding a rack to complement my IM2000, which I currently use when I want to squat or bench, i just attach the J-hooks and spotter arms to the front posts, which works well enough. It just become a PITA if I want to do any free weight exercises before or after doing anything with the Smith function or high/low pulley. I'm leaning towards the Titan T-3 short squat stand and adding the plate storage attachment/half rack attachment. Ceiling height is an issue and I don't care about the pull-up bar. Does anyone use this setup? If so is it fairly stable? My squatting will be done with a SSB and I don't see going above 3 plates. I do have an older PowerTec rack disassembled out in my shed, but will probably sell that to offset the cost of the new one which looks like I can get it for just under $600.
-
Sorry dickus, I have no experience with that rack to say how sturdy it would be and I'm still on my 'Not Made in China' kick LOL.
On the topic equipment though, anyone else annoyed with the lack of constructive conversation on social media platforms? Whether it's ******** or Instagram these so-called 'influencers' are just out there trying to sell stuff or promote their 'brand'. Seems like social media is just watering down your ability to actually have conversations, then when someone disagrees or if it goes against their marketing plan for that post they delete your comments or completely remove your ability to respond. Bring back forums!!!! haha
